Need Protein Help
I was sleeved on 1/30. Now that I am starting to get to eat some solids I am wondering how in the world does anyone get all their Protein and fluids in? I wait 30 minutes before and after eating to drink. So that takes out at least three hours a day that I am not getting any liquids in. Does anyone eat Protein Bars? If so, how often is it okay to eat them? I just really need a break from the Protein shakes and protein shots if at all possible right now. I get full so fast that I am afraid if I try to get all the protein in that I will be grazing all day and sure don't want to get into that habit. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. But what a great problem to have..I would never have thought I could have trouble eating enough food in a given day!

Encouragment
I am 4 1/2 weeks out and down 18 lbs. I too have felt discouraged because of the scale. But I am definitely losing inches so that has helped. I have a few pair of jeans that I couldn't wear a week ago. This morning I tried them on thinking I was going to look all cute in them today because I could finally fit into them. I tried on two pairs and they were too big! Definitely take your measurements. I was amazed at the inches I have lost already.

Anti-Depressants During This Process?
I have been taking Wellbutrin XL for a while now. My surgeon gave me a new prescription for this first month after surgery for a lower dosage wellbutrin that can be cut and crushed. I just take three pills a day rather than the one previously. I have been crushing them and mixing them in a very tiny spoonful of applesauce. I did not take it the first week after surgery and I could already start to tell a huge difference in my mood shifting downward. Since then I have taken it daily as prescribed and my mood is already much better. I also had phentermine a couple of months prior to surgery. I took it along with the wellbutrin and did not have any problems.

Would You Do It Again? Why Or Why Not?
Yes I would do it again. I am 11 days out and starting to feel better physically. I already see a change in my attitude because I know this time that every pound that I lose will not come back again like every other diet I tried. I am still on liquids so that has been challenging. But I am not hungry so that helps. Everything that has been described on this board from the good to the bad and ugly gave me an idea of exactly what to expect. They were right on target with every bit of it. Now I am excited to get down the road and start experiencing some of the other positive aspects of this surgery...like skinny clothes!

January 2012 Sleevers!
I am on day three of full liquids and already so tired of it. I can't stomach the taste of the cream of chicken or cream of potato soup. The texture of jello is now disgusting too. The only thing I can stand to choke down is the pre-op protein shakes. Any suggestions on things others have tried on the full liquids?

January 2012 Sleevers!
Sunnydaysahead, I am happy to hear you are doing well! We just barely squeezed into the January sleevers but so glad we did. I was able to start full liquids today. I tried creamed soup...nope, very runny oatmeal...nope. Neither tasted good at all. I have always loved Jello and that was my "Heaven" during the pre-op diet. I have tried it twice since surgery and cannot stand the texture of it in my mouth. I am praying the Protein Shakes taste good to me because I have tried everything else (protein shots, unflavored powder, Isopure, etc) and they are completely disgusting. Tif, I am using my home scale weight also.

January 2012 Sleevers!
Hey fellow losers! I was sleeved on Monday. I spent two nights in the hospital. I couldn't keep anything down and ran a fever. I am feeling okay and look forward to each day getting even better. I hope this "I'm not hungry" feeling sticks around for quite some time. I am very thirsty and seem to be handling crystal light fruit punch and water well. I'm ready to fast forward about a month to get past the surgery pain.

I will talk to you again in a couple of days on the loser's bench!! Woohoo!!!!!

I Cheated On My Pre Gastric Sleeve Surgery Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet... Should I Be Nervous Now?
I am currently on Day 13 of the pre-op diet with surgery coming on Monday. I too have had a couple of times where I have messed up during this time. But that doesn't mean I am not in the right mindset to have a successful weight loss after surgery. It means I am human and I made lots of "mess ups" during my life and that is what got me to this point right now to have surgery. If I was a stronger person, I could have succeeded on diets long before now and not be where I am at this point. Hang in there and do the best you can. You did the right thing by posting about this. We have such a great support system here.

Pre-Op Diet Started... This Sucks! Any Advice?
NCstatebabe, I have surgery on Monday so I will let you know the cheese I have been eating messes anything up. I am praying it doesn't. I just had to had some substance to chew on. I am already sick of the protein drinks. I have just been gulping them down like a bad medicine. I know I can't do that afterwards, but for now that is what I am doing.

Pre-Op Diet Started... This Sucks! Any Advice?
I am on day 12. Two more days to go! I have eaten cheese a few times. I hope I haven't messed it up too bad by doing that. This is so incredibly hard! I have a lot to do this weekend to get ready for the big day. So hopefully I can keep my mind occupied and the time goes by fast.

Dr. Oz On Hair Loss
I am a three days away from surgery and have been worried about the hair loss. I was planning to consider extensions if it happens. But last week I went to get my hair highlighted and on a whim went ahead and got extensions. I absolutely love them! I got a ton of compliments on my hair at work this week.

January 2012 Sleevers!
My doctor's office suggested and I have also seen on someone's post here that if you are having trouble getting your protein in post-op then try the protein shots. I know they have fruit punch and grape flavor at Walmart. They have very high protein. The fruit flavor has 20 something and the grape that I saw has 40 something grams. I have four more days until my new journey begins. Boy, I can't wait for everyone in the January 2012 Sleevers forum to be finished with surgery next week and get to be together on the loser's bench!

Shout Out To Beth Moore
I have been having so many thoughts about this very subject this week. My co-worker and I are the only other woman that work in our office.Yesterday she went on about how a friend of hers was going on and on to her about how fat she used to be and how good she looks now. And the fat weight she says she weighed is 50 pounds less than what I weigh now. It was like she was doing it trying to make me feel bad about my weight and putting a dig into me that I am fatter than her "fat" weight. My sister and I are very close. We are about the same size and have always dieted together. She has had more success than me in the past. I was a little jealous of her but at the same time happy for her and it motivated me to try harder. But now that I am havnig surgery, she has hardly mentioned it at all. I know she is envious and I am trying to be respectful of that and not talk too much to her about it. I have also been praying that I wont ever get to a point after losing weight that I look down on other people for their weight or that I wont get an uppity attitude just because I am smaller. I feel that God has me on this particular journey for a reason and He will use my experience to fulfill His purpose in my life.

Pre-Op Diet Started... This Sucks! Any Advice?
I'm on day 9 of the 14 day pre-op. The first four days were torture! Part of that was self induced since I had not gotten off caffeine before it started like I should have. I was away from the house at a seminar all day on Sunday and couldn't do a Protein shake. Also I have not told the people I was with about the surgery and didn't want to bring attention to myself at lunch with questions of why I wasn't eating. So I ate a very small amount and honestly felt guilty the whole time for eating. I have the chocolate bari-essentials. I have found that if I go ahead and mix up the shakes and keep them in the refrigerator, by the time I drink them all the air and bubbles have gone away and it tastes much better to me. Crystal light and sugar free popsicles have been my best friends. I too have been reminding myself that this is a serious and major surgery and I need to try with every ounce of energy and will power that I have to keep on track so it can go as smoothly as possible. Hang in there. We can do this!!

January 2012 Sleevers!
I am glad to know I am not alone with my consuming thoughts of the surgery. I am six days away! I will keep myself busy this week getting things ready and ensuring I have all the supplies needed for post-op. I will have very little help when I get home so I am trying to make sure I have it all together beforehand. Prayers for those already sleeved and congratulations to those over the next few days. I hate to wish away the time, but oh how I hope these next six days fly by.

Keeping It Real
Oh my goodness! Keeping things real has been on my mind lately because with being overweight, I have tended to put on the Pollyanna face and kept people at a safe distance for fear they would see the "real" me. As if they can't already see the real me with my weight issues. I prayed yesterday for God to show me how to be more real and not feel like I have to present myself in a certain way to be liked. I have value that runs far deeper than jewelry and makeup. I am still a major work in progress but I understand completely what you are saying. Praise God for showing us how to keep it real!

Feeling Thankful
I have no doubt that God sent me right to this website and has opened every door along the way for me to have surgery. Like many others, I do not have much if any support except for the people on this board. I am so very grateful for that. I believe that God has given me this opportunity so that I can work in His will as He has planned for me. I have hidden behind the weight and not stepped up to get involved in near what I would like. And it is all because I am uncomfortable, ashamed and embarrassed of how I look. I know people mean well, but to hear "you have such a pretty face" is not exactly the compliment I like to hear. With God, all things are possible. I am finally truly believing that!

January 2012 Sleevers!
Reading this board with everyone describing their feelings as we wait for our surgery dates is so comforting because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. I am on day six of the liquid diet eight more to go. It is So hard! I have ate a few bites of cheese the last two days. Other than that, I have stuck to it. I am down 6.6 lbs. so that is encouraging too. I hope everyone that has already been sleeved are continuing to improve and feel better. Those of us still waiting, we can do this!!

January 2012 Sleevers!
Heather F, I am on day four of the 14 day liquid diet. Day 2 was the worst! I warned my co-workers and my kids that I might get grumpy so please ignore me if I do. I made it a point not to have anything scheduled to do other than work and church during these two weeks. I keep telling myself that it is important to do what the doctor says because if I am trusting him to do surgery on me, I am going to trust that he knows what he is talking about with the pre-op diet. Oh, but its hard! And I did have a semi-food funeral.
