  1. i had my surgery on tuesday and i didnt have a bm until friday (late at night). it was very runny and iserino is right DONT TRUST A FART! lol
  2. thank you new day, i will certanly try anything at this point!
  3. so im at the end of day 4 post op and i feel a lot better. i have a lot more energy, a lot less pain and a lot more hope! i still have pain when i eat and i really havent been able to eat (really drink) much at all. i know that i havent gotten nearly enough water in, but im doing the best that i can. i have managed to eat a little split pea soup, without any of the chewable things in it. i only could get down about 4 teaspoons before i was totally full. popsicles are my friend, so is chicken broth. i cant wait to be totally healed. as far as my incision sights, the doc only used steri strips, no stiches or staples. i dont know if that is common or not but i was plesantly surprized! i dont even think that anybody will be able to see the scars because i heal really well. the outside of the tummy doesnt hurt at all. the inside muscles are pretty soar still, but the lovely lortab is helping me through that. swallowing my food is still really painful. still feels like a brick hitting my stomach. then my tummy makes flip flops and all sorts of noises and painfull twitches for about 2-3 minutes. after that i feel fine. i have already lost more than 3 pounds since surgery and that is increadible! i weighed myself the day i got home from the hospital and i weighed more than when i left for the hospital, but that can be explained by all the iv fluids that they pumped inside of me. then the very next day (today) i weighed myself and i had lost all that weight plus the 3 pounds...happy happy joy joy....i have kinda moved back to clear liquids except for the split pea soup tonight because they feel better. hopefully in the next couple of days i can start to add in more of the full liquids again. i guess its true that i have a babys stomach again and i need to take baby steps. lol time for bed.....have i said it lately???? i love this site!!!!!!
  4. this is gonna sound so bad but i agree with smkeller. i love eating, although since the surgery i havent wanted to eat anything. however before the surgery i was on a diet for so long and there were times when the desire to eat got the best of me, but i didnt want to gain weight back that i had lost. there were many times when i would grab a bag of chips and a disposable cup. i would sit there and savor every chew of the chip. i would chew it up until it was just a mush, then i would spit it out into a cup. i would get the flavor of the food that i wanted, but i would not swallow it and absorb the calories. it also helped if i did this after i was already full on something that was healthy that way i wasnt tempted to swallow the food that was bad. i know this sounds soooooo bad but it helped me through some really tough times. its not like i was bulimic or anything because i didnt swallow it and throw it back up, and i was eating the good stuff for my diet. i hope i dont catch to much flack for it
  5. wow i guess this is a touchy subject! i dont think anybody should critisize for just chiming in but that is my opinion. anyhow, i did have a 2 day stay because i lived so far from the hospital that my doc wanted to keep an eye on me for one extra day. i didnt need a drain and i was thankful for that. as a matter of fact, and i dont know if this is common or not, my doc didnt even use stiches. he used sterie strips. i had 4 small insisions all about 1/2 an inch in size and i am so happy with the look of them. totally expected to have bigger scars! as for the diet....he required a 2 week liquid diet for all of his patients regardless of bmi. in my opinion why wouldnt someone want to do the most they could to have the best outcome. this is coming from someone that HATED the pre op diet, as evedinced by some of my posts about being on the diet...lol... however i lost so much weight i was thrilled and i just got that much close to my goal weight that much sooner. it is also said that the quick weight loss does shrink the liver as well as make it more pliable (capable of being moved without tearing) the liver is a BAD thing to have bleed as it is very difficult to stop the bleeding once it has begun. anyhoo good luck to anyone still waiting for the day, and congrats to anyone who is lucky enough to be on the other side already!
  6. i felt the same way as you. as a matter of fact i think i pretty much posted the same thing. what i did to make the time go by faster was plan little trips with my family so i had things to look forward to the entire time on my countdown. even the weekend before my surgery i took the kids camping and the time flew by. another thing to do is to challenge yourself to lose as much weight before the surgery as possible. there is no reason to wait till the surgery to start losing weight. i was able to lose 50 pounds pre op and it is making my recovery so much easier not to mention the fact that i am that much closer to my goal weight because i started earlier. i know the waiting is tough but look at it as if you already are on the losers bench and celebrate the little things that you acomplish. when i lost 20 pounds i went and had a pedicure. when i lost 40 pounds i went on a limo ride with my daughter and had a scavenger hunt. when i lost 50 pounds i bought a new dress and went out to dinner (a healthy one) with my husband. reward yourself with treats along the way that arent related to food. you will find it all the more rewarding in the end when you can make your life about living instead of eating.
  7. i have a friend that got rny. she lost all of her weight but her skin just sagged off of her. her skin is now a grey tone. almost all her beautiful hair has lost its shine and the rest fell out. she hates the surgery choice that she made. she told me she often cries about it. she just doesnt look healthy. she has to take handfuls of vitamins just to get what she needs because she cant absorb anything.. the sleeve was the right choice for me because i wanted to lose weight to get healthy not just skinny. isnt that the point to be heaalthy. i dont think anything about the rny is healthy. when you have to swallow so many pills just to get the vitamins and minerals you need to survive what is healthy about that. i just had my surgery this week and my recovery has been very quick. it took her months to be able to do the things she love to do. i feel so sorry for her. not to mention the fact that she has started to gain weight back already! please reserch all of the things the good and the bad before making your decision, and please let it be your own and not anybody elses. do it for yourself, and youl make the right one.
  8. i do so love the advice that you give time and time again. you are a very wise woman. that being said can i ask you how to messure body fat and lean muscle mass. you seem to know the way and i would love to know how you do it without the machine in the office that you say has been provin inacurate. is there a dummy way for us people that dont have a clue?
  9. yeah i crush them and put them in applesause. it helps.
  10. wow that experience must have been very powerful to you. i wish that you could be able to contact him to help him the way that he unintentionally helped you.
  11. my funny story is that after surgery i couldnt pee at all. i kept going to the toilet to try to pee but nothing was coming out. i would sit on the toilet with the water running trying to encourage my bladder to work. well one morning i was sitting on the toilet while my husband and daughter were visiting. in my house i havent peed in private since i was married, my husband always barges in, my kids and so on. so i dont even bother to close the door anymore. well the nurses assistant was coming in to check my vital signs while i was visiting the toilet and we tried to tell her not to come in but her english not to good so she barged in while im sitten there ass out. she doesnt miss a beat though as she claps her hands and smiles and says "oh you go pee pee?" i quickly smiled back flung my hands in the air and said, 'nope i just like to party naked on the toilet." can anyone say ---heres your sign. lol
  12. oh my goodness, everyone is right! you need to get back on track for yourself. just because you can jump in front of a bus doesnt meen you should. same with mcdonalds!!! just because you can eat there doesnt mean you should! it is honestly the worst thing in the world for anybody to eat!! have you ever seen super size me??? JUST DONT GO THERE! I hope for your sake you have learned from your mistakes and get back on track. good luck to you....i hope you can do it.
  13. welcome to the greatest wealth of knowledge about the sleeve! i love this place. the insurance is the one that counts and if they say ok the surgeon is on board no problem. i just got sleeved 3 days ago so im knew to it. the main problems i have been having is swallowing as well. it feels like a brick going down and i can only drink about 1/8th of a cup of anything before i am to full to continue and i have to wait about 40 minutes to attempt to drink anything again due to stomach pains. everyone i talk to sy the same thing that it will get better. even with the problems i love it already due to the hunger being totally gone. i dont even think about food right now. totally happy. i have already lost more than 3 pounds since the surgery! totally cant wait for real loss. welcome to the club and i hope you get your surgery date sooner rather then later. it will be the best decision of your life.
  14. i did get my blood drawn there and the girl was great. they did it at my pre op registration. my doc is john garcia, but irani is his partner. i heard he is great too. is he the really good looking one..lol i really loved your hospital, as a matter of fact i want to write a letter to the board telling them what a great place they have there. i cant believe how wonderful everyone was there. not one mean one in the bunch. i almost didnt want to leave they made me feel so cozy! i had one male nurse when i was there named michael and he did everything he could do to make me feel beter. i was a real whiner and he didnt miss a beat. he was at my beck and call. he really made me feel better. he deserves a star among us award! there was also a female nurse there on the night shift that was sooooo nice. dede. she made me feel like a part of the family there. i would be so proud to work in a place like that.
  15. yesh i have been complaining of the same thing. everyone says it will go away....i cant wait. i dont even like to look at food right now. when they say it will totally change the way you think about food they aint kidden
  16. just got sleeved on the 16th and i am not doing very well in getting calories in. i think i got about 100 calories in today. i just cant do anything else. when i drink anything it sends painfull sqeezing up my stomach into my esophogus. i dont know what it is but it hurts. i cant even think about getting any protein in right now. i am getting worried that i will muscle waiste....any tips on getting in the protein?
  17. i hope that i dont lose friends d/t weight loss. i have always been the fat friend since i have been an adult and im tired of it. none of my friends know about the surgery though. so i wonder how they will react to the loss. i didnt want to hear any of the bull about how i could lose the weight on my own and, your taking the easy way out. nothing about this surgery is easy....i hope the friendships arent all about weight. i know that my sister might have issues because she has always had her weight over me. she is 5'11 and weighs about 130. she has fake boobs and is beautiful, but she is getting older...she is 12 years older than me and she is really sensitive over her age. when we were camping together last month my 12 year old son said something to her that i thought was disrespectful and i told him to respect his elders....she totally went off on me and said, 'i might be old but at least im skinny and beautiful, what do you have?" i couldnt believe what she just said to me. i told her that was mean and i wasnt trying to insult her, that of course she what my sons elder, hes 12. she apologized but she let her true colors show, and i most definately did not tell her about the surgery for that reason. she would always bring it up whenever i am around her. its hard not telling my friends but my husband and my oldest daughter know and they have been really supportive.
  18. well my surgery was just tuesday, but my biggest sizes were: 4x shirts, 23w pants, 44dd bra, 10 panties, 10.5 ring, 11 shoe after more than 50 pounds lost pre op my new sizes are 2x shirts, 18w pants, 40dd bra, 8 panties, 9.5 ring, and still big ass feet size 11
  19. i know! last night i tried to drink 1/4 cup of protein drink. i sipped it slowly, but when i finished i felt like throwing up, i actually gagged. i hurried and crushed up a nausea pill and licked it up. it helped me really quick to not throw up, but i think i am gonna stick to 1/8th of a cup for a while now because i dont ever want to feel like that again! hiccups are so scarry for me, i am so scarred that i am gonna rip my tummy open. i thought you got hiccups after eating to fast, but ive never eaten so slow in my life! what the heck?
  20. thank you. i got to see my stomach on the xray after my swallow test. btw that stuff was the worst tasting s*** i ever had in my mouth! my tummy was SOOOOO small! it was this tiny little thing the size of 1/2 of a regular banana! i couldnt believe that was mine! i was thankful to have the swallow test though even though that stuff was nasty it gave me a sorta peacefuln feeling knowing that there were no leaks. i thought that all docs just automatically do the swallow trsts, but they dont.
  21. i do get some pain in my lower tummy but not all the time. it kinda comes and goes. i was able to go to my kids belting cerimony today and nobody could tell i just had surgery this week. everyday gets better. im not like all the other people that say they didnt need their pain meds either. some people are really strong, and that is great for them. for me i would rather not feel any pain and there is no shame in that. studies show that when people are on medicines that help them with their pain relief they heal faster, because they move around more. more movement equals more blood flow and more blood flow equals faster healing! congrats on your sleeve, and im sure that you will be feeling better and over that hump very soon!
  22. thank you mememeee!!! im feeling great today!
  23. im 34 gonna be 35 in september!i cant wait to see the skinny version of me looking back in the mirror, but im scarred that it will also be a disapointment because i dont want to have more wrinkles looking back at me too. i dont have very many now because of my fat face, and im scared that all the fat is going to go away and im just going to be left with saggy old looking skin on my face.
  24. congrats indy!!! i knew you could do it. im so happy you feel great. keep up the good work, and dont expect to lose any weight while you are in the hospital. as soon as you get out it will start melting off like butter in the sun! keep me posted on your progress! -sassy
