Hi everyone, Well I went to my WLS seminar on Saturday and learned so much!! I have actually decided the Bypass would be better for me in the long run and so I will be spending most of my time on the gastric bypass forum rnytalk.com, but have made such a huge connection with many of you, I want to keep in touch. Anyway, I've gotta make sure I post my solid gold dancer costume picture next year! LOL

Your weight loss is just that - YOUR weight loss. It's never a good idea to compare your weight loss to anyone else's weight loss. The fact that your loss is different than mine (or anyone's) means absolutely nothing. Sometimes you'll lose quickly. Sometimes more slowly. Sometimes not at all. It doesn't matter. What matters is that regardless of what your weight is doing, your focus is always the same - follow the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can and just let your body find its own way in its own time.
Having said that, consider the fact that you're averaging a loss of four pounds a week. To help you put that in perspective, if you maintained that loss for one year, you'd lose over 200 pounds. So I'd say you're doing nothing short of amazing!!
You're gonna love the new you!!

WOW, I think 24 pounds in 6 weeks is amazing!! You are also gaining muscle from the walking as well. Kudos for doing so great! Good luck and Good loss!

Initially I wanted the lap band and then worked my way to the sleeve as I learned more about the procedures. Finally I decided that if I'm going to have WLS, I'm going for the gold--the gold standard of bypass, that is. I am very happy now that I chose RNY, especially when I read all the posts from people having a do-over from band or sleeve to bypass. Might as well do this once and get it right the first time! My surgery and recovery to date have been very smooth sailing! Good luck!

My sweet dog Taco passed away this past Friday and I am having a hard time dealing with it. She wasn't just a dog to me, she was my four legged baby and I miss her terribly.
My heart hurts so much. She was 5 years, 9 months, and 11 days old. All I do is cry, and I am so depressed. Ice cream has been my best friend. I think I'm hoping it will numb me inside. I just feel at a loss.

I watched Dr Nancy Sniderman on the Today Show discussing the impact this will have and the major impact is that all insurance companies will have to start recognizing it.
I'm guessing there still will be a lot of ignorant ppl discriminating against obese ppl. After all, you can't fix stupid.

I think he will be supportive of you, once you get the surgery...I hope!!
At least you have your mmom and bestie to have your back, and if he loves you (which I'm sure he does), he'll be there too. Just keep pushing through, do what's right for you, and it will all fall in place. Best of lucj!!

Well, sort of;) I'm finally below 150! It was a battle, and I finally had to cave in and start weight training to do it (I seriously love running). 3 more pounds till I reach my doctor's goal for me, 13 till I reach my goal (but that one is a moving target, up and down). My new school clothes, size 8, are starting to feel a tad too loose. I never thought I'd ever say that! For those who are at the beginning of this trip, let me tell you it really works if you play by the rules!

Weight can fluctuate 2-3 pounds, sometimes more many times in a day. Water consumption, stress, and time of day has a lot to do with it.
Try not to focus on the scale, but on how you feel and how your clothes are fitting.

WOW!! That is wonderful!! Congrats on such great progress. It really is a big change.
