Yes If I paid $15k-$20K for the band and I ASSUMED it was gonna melt the fat away without any effort of my own and it didnt work.... then yes. I would be pissed off. But the band is a Tool. It helps portion control. YOU have to do the rest. good luck when you get your band. You sound so ready. and I hear ya.. im TRYING to count my cals too and making sure Im getting the right amount of Protein. good luck

@ Brenda62.. I agree 100%. This person had been arguing with so many ppl. But im seeing this negativity all over this sight. It's obvious she's not happy , actually she seems very angry. But I don't think it's the BANDs fault. I can't see how it can be. I personally feel sorry for her .but will not let her bring me down .

Im confused of your fears. The band is ONLY a TOOL to control the amount of food you consume. No more over eating. This isn't placed to MAKE you lose weight, it's placed to help while your changing all your BAD eating habits and help with portion control.

I would love to be a fly on the wall with these people who are so bitter about the "band". I would bet anything they started eating according to the DR and nutritionist orders to a T. Then after some time it went down hill from there. I may be wrong. But hey , id def put money on it. As far as the band, Like I said.. it's a TOOL to help the amount your eat. It's not a high calories, carb, fat blocker. Im completely aware of the things that can HAPPEN to the band. But when the BAND is Functioning perfectly fine. Now whats your excuse. Come on, get real people. Admit YOU failed. Stop the pity party and start fresh.

Im confused why some people are continuing to stay on this website when they SAY "the band didn't work". It looks like they are here to cause trouble and bash the band? If you SAY the BAND is the reason you didn't lose weight. Then move on. right? Not that I can say leave, because obviously I can't and wouldn't do that . But i've noticed the same person going post to post arguing with people. Honestly, how do we know the band is preventing you from losing weight? How do we know you didn't eat right ? Just saying. The band helps with over eating. It does not make you lose weight. They don't place the band and the weight just comes off. It's all about your diet. Sounds like some one needs something to blame it on. Im new WITH the BAND, but im not NEW when it comes TO the band. Ive done a lot of research on the Band.

So your not happy with your "POS" So I would imagine you had it removed then , correct?

Yup, they found a Hiatal Hernia during my pre-op barium swallow. I'll never forget that day . I was so upset. I heard many stories that if you have a bad hiatal hernia they will not do ANY bariatric surgeries. I wasnt aware at the time the hernia they found was real small . All I was told was "well, looks like you have a good size hiatal hernia". Ugh I wanted to die. My surgeon got the results of the barium swallow and he said it's very small and that when he gets inside if he has to repair the hernia he will do that while in there. Now that I think about it , I dont recall after surgery of they even mentioned if they fixed the hernia. Hmmmmm I should ask. good luck every one

Hello, Im a lapband patient and so far im happy and no complications at all . Im still very early in the process and hungry , but im hoping it gets better. My question is .. I have a friend who is thinking about the sleeve over the Lapband. So I told her I would ask on here the pros and cons of the sleeve if any one can help ? What mad you pick Lapband over the sleeve? Do you know anyone who had the sleeve? If so are they happy ? Thanks for the feedback in advance. I will be copying all feed back for her.

I didn't have it for Lapband Surgery . But Ive had my period with other surgeries . No worries

well your obviously concerned with your weight or you wouldnt be trying to get the lapband. So you pick... Lapband that will lead you to a healthier longer life or BEEF. You pick. If this is what you want, YOUR gonna make it happen. We can't decide for you . I wish you the best of luck. please keep us posted on your decision

im 5'9 235 lbs the day of surgery. BMI was 35. Im not back to eating solid foods again . but ive read that ppl are eating the foods they like . but making better decisions before buying it or cooking it. you have to be willing to make some changes in your diet and buying the right foods

yeah my doctor can tell where it is .. But he wants to watch and make sure every thing is good while swallowing . Im really glad I went with this Dr. He seem to not take short cuts. I will say , I have not had my first fill yet

I just asked my surgeon this question the other day . I wasnt really told how "I" would know. but I was told he could tell real fast if your over eating .(of course with xray) Then he puts you back on liquids and or soft .. blah blah blah ..

I meant to say " If the FILL wasnt done by xray .. Not the actual Lapband lol

Wow thanks for the feed back everyone. I have to say, Before choosing my surgeon, I went to one of his seminars and that was one of the first things he said ..... "Who ever you choose to have your lapband done bye, if it's not done with xray, RUN". He also stated like .. It's VERY easy to find the port, But I want to SEE as the drink is going down, not my patient telling me yeah it feels good or bad.. Ive also read where a lot of doctors put a hole in the tubing . Which could have been avoided with xray. So may other stories, why it's best with it. My insurances covers the xray for it. so I want it done the right way, the way it was meant to be done. no short cuts. Even if I would be fine with out xray. Im not taking any chanced . thanks for the feed back.

Hello everyone!! Happy New Year. So Ive seen a LOT of "Fill" videos on YOUTUBE . Ive spoken to a LOT of people about their "Fills". Ive also read on here the experience of "Fills". Ive notice so many Doctors are doing "fills" without xray. They're just feeling around for the port and doing the fill. How was YOUR "Fill" done?

Every Dr has their own rules , but I don't see why this would stop you from having the surgery ? My doctor didn't put me on a pre-op diet. Before Surgery,I have read so many ppl posting that they had to do a pre-op diet. When I met with my dr before surgery to set up my surgery date. As he was walking out of the room I was a little confused. So I stopped him and asked if I need to do a pre-op diet. I stated that I read so many ppl doing it. he said the only reason why some dr tell you to go on a liquid diet /low cal before surgery is to help shrink the liver some. He said there's no point because it only shrinks it by mm's . He was saying "I want my patients well nourished when they come in to have surgery". So I don't know your Dr's rules , but I cant see him/her sending you home the morning of surgery. lol Good luck and keep us all posted. I hope they don't cancel on you.

I was Banded Dec 1st,2011. My BMI was right at 35.. im 5'9 and at surgery I was 235. Hate being tall , but I think it helped.
