  1. The band as you know is too tight , ... To really start dropping the weight , you need to let some of the fluid out so you can eat more and watch the weight melt away !!!! Good luck to you !!!!
  2. I really don't understand why these Dr's are putting their patients on liquid or low cal diets before surgery . Before my surgery I've done almost 2 yrs of research on the lap band and found a lot of ppl were put on a liquid or low cal diet before surgery. Before surgery I met with my surgeon to sign papers and go over any questions I may have . Well I really didn't have any. But as I was walking out the room I said "wait, do I have to go on a low cal or liquid diet or something ". He said no. I asked why I read so many people have to before surgery. He said " they only do that to shrink the liver, but it doesn't shrink it much, I want my patients eating GOOD Foods and feeling good for surgery , not under nourished lol.
  3. Well I have the Lap-Band Ap standard and it holds 10cc

  6. I was denied after like 4 days the first time. But when we appealed, it took about 21 days for them to approve me. Just find out what YOUR insurance requirements are .and make sure u met them all .
  7. I'm 3wks post-op... And at 2 wks I started feeling that. I just so happened to see my surgeon that day. He said it scar tissue forming . I didn't even have to tell him I was feeling it . He just said "at this stage you my feel some thickness or bulging around the port area". And it just so happened at that moment I was .
  8. I was denied also ... We appealed ASAP and I was finlly approved . 5'9 236lbs. BMI 35 Mild sleep apnea. I just got my lap band December 1,2011 DONT GIVE UP !!! What insurance do you have?
  9. Wow , I was just looking at what you lost already .... that's awesome.. GOOD FOR YOU ! . I do know slower is better , I just hate waiting for anything lol . But I know I have to . Thanks for the Talk ..
  10. Suck it up butter cup lol Im right there with ya . But I didn't go through all that I went through to get the Lapband to let some food that got me here in the first place allow me to fail. How much have you lost so far ?
  11. I knew after surgery I feel really nauseated , So I already asked if they can give me something right before I wake .. and they did . They had to keep giving me something because I felt nauseated all day til the following morning . At one point I did start to get sick, but they got the meds in JUST IN TIME .. ugh just the feeling of my stomach contracting back and forth was hurting where the port is. But the meds stopped it right away . thank god I NEVER got sick. I actually told them NO PAIN MEDS, because they make you feel really sick too. So I never took pain meds after surgery. All is good now !!

  17. Hello , I was also Banded on December 1st. This is how it went "down" for me .. First 2weeks: 2-3 protein shakes (8oz BOOST) a day, SIPPING SLOW (no straws) Water through out the day Sugar Free Jello V-8 juice Chicken broth 4oz. Now i'm on soft foods: 3 weeks post-op to February 9th: These are just a few options, but this is a day for me I eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours ( I actually set 6 alarms on my ipod touch for it to go off when I have to eat, WORKS GREAT and the weight is pouring off)Ive noticed the days im really busy the weight doesnt come off fast unless I have my 6 meals aday. Water and Protein shake in between each meal.Drinks 30 mins -1hr after meals. Breakfast : 1/4 cup oatmeal splash of 1% milk Snack: Protein shake... 8oz 1% milk and 1 scoop of my protein powder (purchased from Wal*Mart) . Water Lunch : 1/4 cup Cottage Cheese Snack: Protein Shake Water Dinner: 1/4 cup vegys Snacks: Protien shake Water Water Water lol. I have not had a fill yet and im not hungry at all , even though I hear my stomach growling. If I didnt set the 6 alarms on my Ipod to go off every 2 1/2 to 3 hours, I would probably never eat. Good Luck to you !!

  22. I was told from my nutritionist and Surgeon no drinking 30-1hr after eating and NO drinking while eating .... Im a VERY big drinker, so it's hard for me to not grab my drink after eating.
  23. I was just Banded on December 1, 2011. I'm 5'9 (tall I know) Surgery I was 236.6 and today Im 223.3. My first 2 weeks was all liquids 2-3 protein shakes a day (8oz bot of BOOST) Jello, ice pops and chicken Broth Im now just into 3 weeks and starting on my soft foods. this is my day . Hopefully it helps I eat every 3hrs on the nose. I actually set the alarm on my ipod to go off every 3 hrs just to remind myself to eat.. because im not hungry at all. Breakfast : 1/4 cup oatmeal splash of milk (cooked in water) Snack: Protein Shake 8oz of 1% milk and 1 scoop protein (I purchased my protein from Walmart ) Lunch : 1/4 cup cottage Cheese Snack : protein shake Dinner : 1/2 red skin potato (add 1 teaspoon sour cream) snack protein shake.. This is just a sample of what I do. I have other meal options. I still see my nutritionist and she sets a menu up for me and I just follow it. Then it will switch again in February when I go to more solid foods.

  25. What are your goals? Have you reach them? What advise can you give to others to help reach their goals and stay on track ? I was Banded on December 1, 2011 BUT, I set 6 goals for myself even though im only 3 weeks post-op . I want to lose about 60 lbs plus. GOALS My first goal was to drop 10 lbs...... and I did. Goal 1, COMPLETE (YAY) Goal 2 Drop another 10 lbs..... 5 more lbs to go. YAY Goal 3 drop another 10lbs....... You see where this is going .... lol It's easier for me to say 10lbs each goal , rather then 60 plus lbs being my goal. so I set 6 goals and only have 4 1/2 left. THAT WAS EASY !! WHAT HELPS ME STAY ON TRACK: Even though it's only been three weeks for me , i've noticed Im having troubles remembering to eat. I'm just not hungry. BUT, I know if I dont eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs Im not going to lose the weight. So what I did that's working out great for me is.. I set my alarm on my IPOD touch to go off every 3 hours. So every 3 hrs the alarm goes off and either its a protein shake or my 1/4 cup of food that's on my menu for that meal. THIS SEEMS TO WORK GREAT FOR ME. Now I don't forget to eat. and Ive notice the weight IS coming off faster . I hope that helps someone!!! Good luck to EVERY ONE and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL ! I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING "LESS" OF ALL OF YOU LOL
