  5. I am less than 4 months out and I have lost 87#; and I do not exercise. My doc told me that he sees absolutely no reason why I would not lose 150# in a year. Sent from my iPad using VST

  7. I'm 4. Months out and try to average 600 calories. And I absolutely cannot drink plain Water. Makes me dog sick. I have to put something in it. Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. I believe it is probably what you ate. That is going to be terrible to digest, even super moist. Do you normally eat 3 oz. of something that dense? 3 oz. of beef is not 3 oz. of soup. I am 4 months post op and cannot eat but 1-2 oz. of meat. I truly believe you over eat. If you did, it will sit like a rock for HOURS. IMO, I would hold off on hamburger for a little longer. It is very likely to make you uncomfortable. And maybe try less. That dense meat really sits hard in there. Hope you are feeling better soon. If you are still sick tomorrow, call the doc and tell them what happened. I'm pretty sure they will tell you the same. I have had a ton of eating issues, so trust me; I have been there too. It is all trial and error learning your sleeve, unfortunately even more for some of us. Best wishes!!
  9. I have had abdominal surgery three different times and I have never had a drain. I had no problems. I would have totally freaked out if they had of given me a drain with my vsg. I hate it that when I have my panni and boob job they will probably make me have them. It will be such an inconvenience!
  10. I have degenerative joint and disk, fibromyalgia, OA, migraines and I'm 6 wks post-op from knee surgery. No one is going to give you any anti-inflammatory to take by mouth. They just will not take the risk of you bleeding. The orthopedic surgeon put a steroid shot in my knee last week and they will give you general steroid shots and dose-pack, but other than that not much. Have you ever tried Cymbalta? It is a antidepressant used to treat the pain and fatigue associated with fibromyalgia and OA. It works well. Or you could ask about neurontin or Lyrica. They do pretty good too. I hate that we have to choose, in many situations, to be in pain, but maybe as the weight comes off it will not be as bad on you. Mine has become much, much less severe with my loss. Sorry I don't have anything else, but maybe you could try some of things above if you have not. Best wishes!!
  11. Yeah, it may sound stupid, but the hair loss was the only thing about the surgery I was worried about. I am Apostolic and do not and have not cut my hair for about 27 years. It was beautiful and a joy to me. When I started, my hair was very thick and came all the way to just above my knees. Now I am right at 4 months post-op and have lost >6 inches in length and > half of the volume. It is very heart breaking to me, but I have to look at it this was; I could take the chance of losing part of my hair and live or keep it all and die. I am getting healthier now, so maybe it will grow faster than it did before. If not, I'll buy me some clip-on curls...lol. This was my hair pre-op (and my bootie 87# bigger!)
  12. I had esophageal spasms after my surgery. They were murder. I couldn't eat or drink anything. My doc treated with valium and hydrocodone. The really severe ones only lasted a few days, but even now at close to 4 months I can still have them. Make sure to take it REALLY slow and don't swallow too big of a drink or bite. It will trigger them, if that is what you are having. And take the ppi as long as you are having any pain. That means things are still raw and healing and you still need that extra protection. Hope you feel better soon
  13. I had a good week. Not as good as last week, but I'm not complaining. I'm going to ride the wave and enjoy it while I can!! HW 335 SW 257 CW 248 GW 245 Wk 1 -6# Wk 2 -3#
  14. I had mine out in '98 and on a scale of 1-10 the pain is a 20. When I had The Attack, I absolutely though I would die. By the time my husband got me to the hospital, not only did they think I was having a heart attack, they were afraid that I would have a stroke too because my BP was so high (from the pain). They pumped me full of narcotics to no avail. I finally ended up on a morphine drip. You scream, writhe, puke, sweat and anything else a person might do that though they were having their heart dug out with a red hot spoon. Mine could have very easily killed me (and I was only 20). The stones move around and block the duct. This causes pressure to build up and can lead to a rupture. My doc told me that pain meds should never be give when gallbladder problems are suspected. He said masking the pain could lead to your death. If you were having an attack and covered it up, it could rupture and you would not have time to make it to the hospital. You could even die in your sleep. So if you are having problems get them seen about ASAP and don't try to buy time with narcotics. Sent from my iPad using VST
  15. I have heard a lot of folks talking about the nectar, so I thought I would try it. I googled it up and this is the special that I found. It is currently on a 1-2 week back order, but usually ships in 2-3 days. I went ahead and ordered it because it is a larger variety, for a much cheaper price and free shipping. I have not found this deal anywhere else. Here is the info if you would like to try it also: The number is 1-866-333-7403 ext 803. Just ask for the Nectar sample kit. You get 14 variety packets (one of every flavor) for $14.00 (no shipping!) It is worth a try at that price; especially if you are like me and hate the shakes and are not being able to catch on to eating again either. Good luck! Oh, BTW, she also told me that you can find them on Facebook. That is where they advertise their sales and specials: Syntrax official.
  16. I'm joining in. I lost 21# in the Memorial Day Challenge; but my loss is really slowing down, so I am going to set this goal at 12#. That is about 2# a week, so I think that is reasonable. SW 257 CW 257 GW 245
  17. I didn't know if I was going to see any change this week or not. As of yesterday, it had been the same all week. But in what is not uncommon for me, it budged this morning and moved well. A 2# loss for me this week. HW 335 SW 278 GW 263 CW 257 Lost 2# this week Total loss of 21# Yay!! Goal surpassed. I'm ready for the next challenge. I'm reaching for that 100# mark. Century Club, here I come!
  18. It eases up over time. I am 3 months out and can take 3 large draws on a straw in a row..gulp, gulp, gulp. Then I wait a few seconds and do it again. It is funny. The liquids go in just fine, but I can still only eat around 1 ounce of solid food. So, it must clear pretty quickly.
  19. I drank them before surgery, but after I can't handle them either. Your sense of smell and taste are jacked up after surgery. I gag VERY quick now. I have no suggestions, I can't lie. I just don't do them. It is rare that I can get past one drink.
  20. My doc said no NSAIDS too. So, I don't know. Just read the bottle is all I can say.
  21. No suggestions on the shakes, I hate them all. But best wishes on your surgery and recovery. Congrats
  22. As little as we eat after the sleeve, I really can't see how anyone could not lose weight. You may be slower than many, but you are going to lose weight.
  23. Oh, I think my sleeve is bi-polar. Nay-Nay, as I call her, mood swings fast enough to give you whip lash. Not only does she change her mind from meal to meal, but sometimes right in the middle of a bite. I will have to spit it out or throw up.
  24. I do it. I always have a vision of the food going in and having to wait just a second to displace the air so it can go on down. Thus that little "uurrpp" sound.
