First Supper
I only remember mine because it was the night of my work Christmas dinner. I had a broiled crab cake. Super yum!

Diet Advice?
I'm post band for almost 3 months now. I also use myfitnesspal and I can tell you that I NEVER meet my calorie goal of 1200. I usually prefer to stay around 800 anyway. It's weird that even with your 3 protein drinks, you aren't meeting the protein goal. If I try, I can usually exceed that and I don't even drink protein drinks. I usually just stick to food that has lots of protein in it. Anyways, that's the problem with starting the pre op diet so early. Your body may go into starvation mode. You may want to make your diet at this point a little less extreme. For instance, have a protein drink for breakfast, and have a healthy lunch and dinner. You will still lose weight that way. Make healthier choices and avoid sweets and junk food. Also, 12 pounds in 2 weeks is NOT healthy. 6 pounds would have been great. I definitely think you are cutting yourself too short on calories. Also, talk to the nutritionist. Maybe they can point you to a healthier, safer diet. Good luck. Let me know how it goes!

Anyone Not Feeling Negative?
I feel like I see an equal of both positive and negative on here. Make sure you also read the blogs and like someone said above, the success stories. Iv'e lost 45 pounds in 10 weeks, so I believe I'm a success thus far. I would do everything the same and do not regret my decision at all. Good luck and stay positive!

What Are You Eating?
Grilled chicken is usually the best way for me to go. I also like chilli (the one I had today is only 220 calories and has 15 grams of protein per serving). I also like eggs and greek yogurt.

Hoping For A Fill
That is EXTREMELY strange! You should ask your doctor why he/she did that. I had my second fill on Tuesday and he actually didn't want to give me a fill because of the amount of weight I've lost. That's how it's supposed to be. I asked him for one anyway because I wasn't feeling restriction and he agreed to put 1cc in. I would definitely ask your doctor what the point is in the band if he's not going to help you work it. So weird. Let us know how today goes!

2Nd Fill
Yesterday I went in for my 2nd fill. My doctor tried telling me he didn't think I needed one because I lost 11 pounds since our last appointment, but I told him that the only restraint I'm feeling is personal, and not due to the band. So he put 1CC in. I believe my band is at 5CC's now (in a 14CC band). My doctor looked really surprised at the amount of weight I have lost. He even asked me what my secret was. He was really really happy with my progress. His eyebrows shot up and he found out how much I lost. Makes me feel really good! He also cleared me to do any type of exercise. I have only been doing cardio up until then, but last night, I incorporated some strength exercises into my routine. I'm appropriately sore and that makes me happy. I plan on doing strength exercises twice a week and 3 days of cardio. I'm also starting that couch to 5k program next week but I'll probably be doing that on my lunch break. As soon as my tax return comes in, I'm going to purchase some nice running shoes and a fit bit. I'm getting so excited! Also, I went clothes shopping yesterday. I know that I need new pants and jeans because all of mine are baggy, but I have always had an extremely difficult time finding pants and jeans that fit well. I don't have much of a butt, so a lot of them are baggy in the back. So I have yet to find jeans and pants that look good on me in a size smaller (which I do need). I only have one pair of jeans that I can still wear that don't fall off of me, and 2 pairs of pants I can wear to work which will soon become impossible for me to continue wearing. So I'm on the search for new bottoms. I got off track. What I did find out yesterday while I was shopping, is that I'm a size smaller in shirts! I always used to have to buy 1X but now, 0X fits me perfectly! That made my day! Now I'm currently drinking my SF Carnation Instant breakfast. It's taken me over an hour and I love it! I can usually drink it within 15 minutes. I just like to be reminded that my band is there and it's working. 46 pounds in 10 weeks! Pretty fantastic!

Couch To 5K
So a friend and I have decided to start the couch to 5K program next week. I am sooooo nervous! I still have a long way to go to become physically fit and still almost 70 pounds to lose before I'm where I'm supposed to be. I'm really nervous I won't succeed at this. I'm excited to set a new goal, but definitely more nervous. Have any of you been through this program and succeeded? Were you physically fit when you began or were you a non runner like me? I have been going to the gym/walking for the past 3 weeks, 5X a week. That may have helped me a little. I just don't want to jump head first into this if it's not realistic. The program is supposed to be for people who are non runners. I just wanted to see if I could get some input on this. Also, if you have any suggestions for good running shoes. Thanks!

What Are You Goals With The Lap Band?
To shop in regular stores where they don't overcharge. To run a 5K To eventually get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy I want my ring size to shrink...it's currently a 9.5 or 10. To be healthy and happy! Great topic!

Super Bowl Regret
I can honestly say that yesterday was the worst day food wise since I've gotten the band! I had chips and a slice of pizza. I wanted to cry yesterday. I have been SOOOOO strong! But today is a new day and I'm as focused as ever. I actually lost 1.8 pounds since Saturday but just knowing I gave in to temptation really bothers me. Hitting the gym like a demon today! I go back for my second fill tomorrow. I've lost 11 pounds since my last one, so I think my doctor will be happy with my progress. I'm hoping to be at 200 pounds (preferably 199) by the end of this month. Only 14-15 pounds to go! Ahhh! It's a lot to hope for, but I'm hoping with this fill and me working my butt of at the gym, that it can happen.

Are You Sure You Don't Want Anything To Drink?
I just order water because it's free and I don't have to worry about the looks. And I don't really care about taking water to go haha. I usually have water bottles in my car so when the time is good and I can drink again, I just grab one of those.

Help!!! Need To Find New Foods To Fulfill The New Me!!
I eat a lot of grilled chicken because it's good for protein. You can prepare that ahead of time. I don't so much as focus on what I CAN have, but rather on what I CAN'T. For instance, I just stay away from the obviously bad things like pasta, bread, sweets, and drinks with calories in it. Works like a charm for me! Once you know what the obviously bad things are, you can pick the good things! Good luck!

Be My Valentine Challenge
I just realized I checked in too early! Yay! That's good news! Haha.

Am I Crazy?
I am not having trouble with hunger or portion control either but I do not feel restriction. Because of that, my doc gave me a fill. And I STILL don't feel restriction lol. I am still losing weight though because like one of the ladies said up there, it's self control. Just knowing the band is there helps me to restrain myself from over eating. I also have no desire for sweets or anything so it's helping in that respect also. According to my doctor, if you don't feel restriction, you get a fill. I'm going to keep getting fills until I know it's not just me doing the work. Good luck!

Be My Valentine Challenge
First check in: Sad to say I'm up a pound to 216! Hoping when I check again on Monday, it would have gone down a couple. I ate later than usual last night so I'm not too surprised. Have a good weekend!

How Did You Reward Yourself?
Oh I would never think to reward myself with food on a daily basis! I have been extremely, extremely strict with my diet. Have not had anything sweet or above 300 calories since November 11th. I was kidding about the pizza lol. Thanks for your ideas!

How Did You Reward Yourself?
I'm a believer in rewards. I am close to meeting my first goal of 50 pounds lost (only 5 pounds away!) so I'm starting to think of something I can do to reward myself. So I was curious what you guys have done once you have met a specific goal. Buy yourself a new outfit, electronic? Eat something yummy? I've been thinking of a slice of pizza but not sure how good of an idea that is lol. Also, what were your goals? I know mine are (at the moment) 50 pounds lost, under 200 pounds, 100 pounds lost, then goal weight! Although exciting, this is also very difficult, and we should always remember to reward ourselves!

Rewards
Well I'm down 45 pounds as of today! Super psyched!! I'm starting to think of something I can do to reward myself once I reach 50 pounds lost. I was thinking a slice of pizza but maybe that's not the best thing to do haha. So I was wondering what you guys did to reward youself once you met a goal? 50 pounds is my first goal, being under 200 is my second, 100 pounds lost is my third, and then goal weight of 145 pounds. There are a few things on my wishlist (i.e. new iPhone and the Nook) so maybe I'll just buy myself something I want. So excited!!

Rate Of Weight Loss?
On average, about 3 pounds a week. Surgery was 9 weeks ago. Some weeks more, some weeks less, depending.

Time Off Work?
I had surgery on a Monday and went back the following Monday. It was fine for me. I was really tired the first day back, but I'm sitting most of the day so it was no big deal. Since you are active in your job, I definitely suggest at least a week. Good luck!

Fitbit
I am considering buying a fitbit. Because it's a 100 dollars, I wanted to get some opinions on it. Does anyone on here have one? If so, what is your experience with it? Has it helped with your fitness goals? I know there is also the bodybug, but I would rather have the fitbit because it connects with myfitnesspal and I am an avid user of that app. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Co-Worker Wants To Have Lap Band
I believe that if the soup is your meal, you are fine. It's just combining liquid WITH your meal, you either won't be able to eat as much, or you will be able to eat more because the liquid has mushed it enough to slip through your band. I've heard both. Just make sure that if the soup is your meal, to stick to the correct portion size. I have yet to find something my band won't tolerate. I think you will have to test certain foods, see how you will react to them because everyone is different. You might just not want to do the testing in public. Just make wise choices. I stay away from bread and Pasta as much as possible because of the carbs.

New Here With A Couple Of Questions
Hello! I took a week off. I had my surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. It was fine for me. I was real tired that first day back, but okay beause I have a sit down job. Does your job require you to stand a lot or do strenuous activity? If so, I suggest 2 weeks. I don't know what a tradeshow involves or how soon after surgery you are planning on doing it. I wouldn't suggest planning to do it the week of surgery. You are not even supposed to be driving for a few days. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Liquor
I had my first and only "liquor" 2 months after surgery. It was a Mikes Hard Lemonade. I had no negative effects.
