  1. My nutritionist recommended 60 gr. protein per day. Im having a hard time getting that in. I drink my Special K protein shakes which are 10 gr per drink. I have between 2-3 a day..I have a hard time getting the rest in..any suggestions?
  2. The thing that really stood out to me in your post was " Don't get me wrong when I do feel restriction I am going to want to eat the right things". Not neccessarily..restriction or no restriction, its going to be up to you to make the right choices. The band isnt going to make food choices for you.
  3. Thats awesome! Im just over 2 weeks post-op and havent weighed myself at all this week because its that time of the month...I love hearing "stick with it" stories!!! Congrats!
  4. I was banded on 1/27. The first week was the WORST. Now, Im moving on and Im feeling better and better every day. Im not thinking of food every 2 seconds, Im losing at a decent rate, Im feeling better and healing good. My thing is, I come on here every day..actually this site is always up..and all I read is negative. I know its tough..and everyone is going to get in their ruts..but I thought there would be a lot more positive than negative. I almost tell myself not to come in for awhile.....so..can I hear some good stories???
  5. I was banded on January 27th. The first couple days was fine...about the 3rd-5th day I could have eaten my arm off. You have to mix up your drinks too..diet snapple was great for me. I drank Diet Snapple..and Motts light apple juice. Those were really good fillers as far as drinks. I had a really bad sweet tooth craving on day 5 and thought I wouldnt make it. But one of the members on her suggested I get some chocolate Vitamins as well as the gummy ones...those really took the edge off. By day 6 it is so much easier. And today, day seven, is the first day I didnt wake up with food on my mind or a hollow stomach. It does get better.
  6. Im now 6 days post op and I can feel my port every move I make..not only that..but I can see a HUGE knot where my port is located. Is this normal?
  7. Never thought about the chocolate ones..that sure would help too! Great idea!!!
  8. Im 6 days post op and my port hurts. It sticks out too..like a huge knot..anyone elses port stick out?
  9. You were allowed to have that in the first week post op? My doc said clear liquids..but then said coffee was ok with sugar free sugar and creamer,...then said Yogurt was ok..as long as it was thinned no lumps (so any yogurt as long as it doesnt have lumps?) Im wondering why everyones post op diet is so different.
  10. Im 5 days post op and thinking if I see another cup of broth Im going to lose it. Im going shopping this afternoon. Can anyone give advice on what they ate in the first stage that kept them from going crazy?
  11. Worth at try!!! Thanks! Especially for the coupon!
  12. Good point....but Id be willing to give it a whirl..lol
  13. I would kill someone for 1 stinking gummy bear right now..just 1 to take the edge off...cause Im starving...I was wondering..if we can have gummy vitamins..why cant we have gummy bears?
  14. I had my surgery on Friday and when I woke up I was suprised at where my port is. Its directly under my left breast??? It seems like I might not be able to wear a bra for awhile! I never got to see my surgeon after surgery. They had the doc on call come and discharge me, but when I asked him why it was placed there he said he wasnt sure. Is this normal placement? I had just assumed it would be lower in my abdomen area..not so high. Also, Im 3 days out and the gas is killing me. Not passing a lot. It feels like its stuck in my chest and under my ribs. If I could just belch Id feel great. Ive walked holes in my slippers and its not helping. I got some Maalox anti-gas and thats not working either..any suggestions?
  15. Nothing..registration called me yesterday to get me registered. Said a nurse would call and I havent heard a word since.
  16. Did they call you with a time? Are you suppose to fast all day tomorrow? I havent heard a thing! I called the office to left a voicemail..but nothing yet.
  17. Is it weird that I am scheduled for surgery this Friday the 27th...yet...thats all I know? They havent called me with a time for my surgery..or if Im suppose to eat tomorrow or not?? I called and left a voicemail but havent heard anything back.
  18. Thank you so much. I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow and I just felt like I was in a total panic cause I had no clue what to buy. It was like all my research went out the window as soon as I heard it was moved to a week earlier! What about Vitamins? Will they want me to start the gummy vitamins right away?
  19. Im getting banded on Friday with zero mention of a pre-op diet..should I be worried?
  20. Originally my surgery was scheduled for February 3rd. The doctors office called today and said that my surgeon would be out of town and that they needed to change my surgery date to this Friday!!! Im freaking out with excitement and nerves. I feel so ill prepared. Like..what do I need to shop for? What do I need to pack for the hospital? HELP!
  21. I havent had my surgery yet..but I can tell you the precise moment I said enough!...We went to Disney world and they have those pictures that they take of you while your on the ride. I was on Space Mountain and when we got off the ride I was mortified at my picture. I looked like a sausage stuffed into that seat. I was so mortified I didnt want anyone to see it. I had lost a lot of weight a few months before but didnt realize I had put so much of it back on. So there I knew I had to do something *again* I immediately came home and went back through all my diet journals...I was trying to figure out what diet I was going to use...flipping through I was thinking 'Oh, I lost 20lbs in a month on this one.."Oh on this one I lost 30 over 3 months"...and so on..but as I kept reading I kept realizing..these were all so temmporary..and that I needed more help than I could give myself. I needed something more permanant. I started doing research and got scared away a couple times...thinking "Oh, if I have to be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks..Ill just do it on my own"...and it worked..then it failed again...so...here I am..I finally accepted I need more help than I can give myself and hoping to get surgery at the end of this month
  22. Ive been working so hard at getting my ducks in a row for my surgery. My first appt. was back in October where I was told I had to change insurances. I had to start the whole process over. I started jumping through all the hoops because the office was telling me that once my insurance changed over..I was looking at a mid-late January surgery date!! YIPPPPPEEEE!! So I went to my surgeon meeting on Tuesday. I was so excited. Meet with the Dr. and he tells me how he wonderful he thinks this surgery will be and that we are going to go ahead and schedule a date...again..YIPPPPPEEEEE..so we are walking out of the room and getting ready to talk to the nurse and he casually mentions "Dont schedule any appointments," she looks at him stunned and he looks at me and says "We have some facility politics going on right now..so I dont know where I will be within the next few weeks"...My jaw dropped. So then I get put in a room with others who are just as confused as I am..we talk to the nutritionist and the insurance lady, none who can answer our questions...then the scheduling lady comes in and tells us.."I have no clue whats going on..its office politics..they are hiring a couple more people to do surgeries and he doesnt seem happy about that...so, if you want to have your surgery by him, you *may* have to go to a different hospital. The new hospital does not have a special unit...they dont have a team...it will just be him and a couple nurses that he will be training...and who knows when we will get our appt. Im furious..the whole reason I switched insurances was to have this proceedure at that particular hospital with that doctor and that team. Now...its all up in the air. I I tried to make an appointment with another doctor that was on staff at the current hospital and he said "Im not getting involved" so I cant even make an appointment with him, Im so disappointed right now..I worked so hard getting everything ready and getting everything in order so I could have my surgery this month...got to know all the people at the facility and was really super excited..now..I just dont know
  23. I already went to the seminar back in October..and due to insurance issues I had to wait to make my official surgeon meeting appointment til the first of the year. So, I already sat through the seminar and I called to make my appt. with the surgeon and they told me that I need to plan to be there the better part of my day...from around 11a -4p. My question is..I already sat through the seminar...what is the surgeon going to do with me tomorrow that is going to take 5 hours?????
  24. Im getting everything in order to hopefully have my surgery in Jan/Feb. We switched insurances and Im trying to get all the prerequisite stuff done so that when I go in and meet again with my surgeon that I have everything. One of the things on the list is a mental evaluation. I figured Id just call a phychiatrist or something along those lines...tell them what I need..sit through the appointment and be good to go. This is turning out to be a hard one. When I call the offices a lot of them dont understand why I need the appointment. I tell them the whole ordeal that I just need a mental eval to make sure that Im in the right frame of mind to get the surgery..I've called 5 so far and 3 of them said they cant do it??? The other 2 said they would talk to the Dr. then call me back because they usually have a minimum number of treatments... Am I doing something wrong?
  25. I see a lot of postings about the pre-op diet..and some people are on them and some arent...Is it based on how much you weight? I hear a lot of talk about needing to shrink the liver..is this for everyone as well? Just wondering why some are on a preop diet and some arent.
