Im freaking out with excitement and nerves. I feel so ill prepared. Like..what do I need to shop for? What do I need to pack for the hospital? HELP!

As for shopping, post surgery you'll be on the clear diet. So, here's an example of what you'll want to have on hand:

-skim milk

-Soup broth or stock

-yogurt without chunks/fruit

-sugar free Popsicles

-sugar free Jello

-no sugar added fruit juice

It's really important you stay hydrated. Dannon makes little 8oz bottles of Water. I bought some and they worked great for monitoring my water intake.

As for in the hospital, I would suggest a bathrobe and slippers for sure. They'll have you up and walking the halls pretty soon after surgery. Make sure you bring loose clothes for the ride home, as you don't waist bands and stuff rubbing on your incisions. Don't forget to bring any prescription meds with you, too.

You'll do great. Best wishes to you!

Thank you so much. I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow and I just felt like I was in a total panic cause I had no clue what to buy. It was like all my research went out the window as soon as I heard it was moved to a week earlier!

What about Vitamins? Will they want me to start the gummy vitamins right away?

My surgery is this Friday as well, although I have know that a bit longer than you have ;)

I also have a heating pad, Gas X strips, my scripts, and the above mentioned food items. Good Luck :)

I already had a time from my Dr.'s office but the hospital called me yesterday to move me up an hour.

I have been doing the liquid diet for the past 2 weeks and continue up until surgery day.

I hope you have a time and instructions by now. Have you heard from the office yet?

Do you have a number to call at the hospital? Maybe someone there can give you answer. I would really not appreciate being treated this way. Especially if you have to make last minute plans for work, childcare, etc :(

Where baggy clothing to and from the hospital.

As far as for at home get a pill crusher/splitter, heating pad, lots of pillows if you sleep in a Recliner, "easier getting up" Flintstone chewable vitamins COMPLETE with CHOLINE these help keep you peppy.

s.f pudding, Yogurt, broths, s.f pop cycles, decaff tea, anything light and wet. No pop, or coffee....
