I Been Bad =(
My surgeon actually doesn't want his patients using Protein shakes at all because he wants them to concentrate on getting their protein from food. I often use a shake for Breakfast and catch all kinds of flack if I fess up to it at the surgeon's office. A box of shakes from costco is lasting me two months. I use them mostly for breakfast at the office. Protein is the building block of so many of the body's systems so it IS really important to get enough but if you can get it in without shakes I'd think you'd be fine. I'm loosing some hair but I started taking Biotin. The loss is starting to slow down maybe, it started about 4 months out and I'm getting close to 6 months out from surgery. How far out from surgery are you?

3 Month Surgiversary!
These are just the greatest moments! Congratulations on your hard work paying off in a "small" way! I had one this morning when I pulled on a pair of size 14 pants my mom gave me because they don't fit her any more... I could totally get away with wearing those pants now... =) I'll give it 10 more lbs to like the way they look on me!

Finally! A Booty Call In Sight!
Great news! My former friend with benefits may be able to pay me a weekend visit! I say former because we've not lived near each other for several years now so the "benefits" have been non-existant. Now, as long as he doesn't see my Nat Geo boobs & saggy stomach and run screeming for the hills, I should be set. Seriously, I've been dying with the hormones running wild and on a rampage. I've even been lusting after my son's swim instructor and I'm sure I'm old enough to be his mother- I feel like a dirty old man! Talk about panties in a twist! Yikes!

Are You A Morning Person?
I was up this morning at 3:47am! Exercising at night is killing my sleep patterns!

Happy Frustration!
Isn't it amazing? Good job! I have a dress hanging in the closet I hope to use for a job interveiw but if they don't get the lead out and get the job posted I'll have to take it back and find something else to wear! The joys of a sleeve!

Panties, Glorious Panties...
Last fall I finally bought myself a bunch of size 9 undies from Target, Walmart and the like. I think they're mostly Haines size 9s. They all look ridiculous on me now and I keep them around for sleeping but they're pathetic and have a saggy flap in the tush area like I have a saggy flap in the gut/c-section area! I sadly match on both sides! Now all my old costco underwear - size 8 I think, fit and I've got a drawer full of those so no real need to go buy new stuff. I picked up a couple pair on sale at VS but haven't used them yet. Pretty panties is something I'm looking forward to when I'm down another 30lbs or so! =) I figure I'll indulge when I'm more confident of how I look in them!

Alcohol?
Alcohol is on my surgeon's list of things to avoid because it's empty calories. I think I had a little wine at about 3 months out and I've had a glass of wine here and there since then. Maybe 5 times since surgery? The odd thing is I feel slightly hung over the next day. Every time I've experienced this mild "hung over" feeling. I'm not much of a drinker so it's not a big deal to me to skip it but if someone's going to pour me a good glass of wine I'll probably take it! Six weeks out seems early to me though, but I'm not a Dr!

Mash Potato
What does your surgeon's plan say? Week two for me was full liquids but no cream/milk so I could have probably made potato Soup with broth (no butter or milk). I did have store-bought sweet potato soup that week. I think it would have been at least three before my plan would have included mashed potato, even thinned unless it was really soup consistency. Each surgeon seems to be different and it's always best to follow their guidelines. Good luck!

My First Nsv!
So great!! Great job! My monkey has taken to saying "I'm getting bigger and mamma's getting smaller". He's 3.5yrs old so it's pretty funny and occasionally embarrassing given the times he chooses to share!

Hellooooooo Onederland!
Way to go! That big smile says it all! Congratulations.

Swimsuit Comparison Pics! Brave, I Know!
You look INCREDIBLE! I don't think many people would believe it's the same person in the pictures. You are totally my hero! Where in Brazil are you? I saw somewhere, probably on the web or news a procedure they're starting to do for WLS patients that replaces the usual tummy tuck or the around the torso skin removal. They're working from the bellybutton and bringing/stretching everything into the bellybutton so there's much less cutting and scaring. I'm almost 41 and have a belly/upper hip area full of stretch marks from being pregnant and 250+lbs and the idea of eliminating some of that broken skin is starting to sound pretty appealing. Of course, the fact that I'm lusting after my son's swim teacher, who I'm probably old enough to have birthed, might be messing with my vanity and I should probably get my head out of the gutter... my thighs also look so much better when I pinch up about an inch of extra "chunk"... =) You look so great and are major inspiration!

Fainting?!?!?
I haven't totally fainted yet because I've managed to sit myself down or hang on to something while I stabilize- before I go down for real. That said, I get light-headed and almost faint close to daily. The worst is when I'm gardening and kneeling or squatting down to work in the yard and move to stand up. My blood pressure was 106/68 when it was checked last. That's a normal range for me when I'm healthy/fit. I've never had a dizzy spell while walking on the treadmill though... interesting.

And My Pants Started To Fall Off...
Thanks all! I've put those pants in the donation pile, thank you very much! I even bought myself a couple pair of shorts. Now I just need some sun so I don't blind anyone with my pale legs!

Body Shape Changes
a ghetto onion! oh, I LOVE that! I have post-baby/c-section, stretch marked stomach but it is getting smaller at least. I want my back fat gone more than anything and I'm sure it'll hang on to the bitter end...

Lady Nsv- May Be Tmi Lol
I just got waxed this morning and the gal told me we'd have to start doing a real bikini wax soon (I'd recently gone to full leg - why wax what no one's going to see, right?). Not that I'm looking forward to a bikini wax, but I AM looking forward to looking decent enough to need one!

And My Pants Started To Fall Off...
The other day I raced my son to the door at his school and almost lost my pants AND underwear... and it's at a church! Time to throw those into the donation pile! Size 14 here I come! =) Happy Friday!

6 Months Out... How Many Calories Are You All Taking In Daily?
I need to get back to logging on myfitnesspal! I'm 5.5 months out and down 69lbs. I've been bad about exercising for almost two months so my loss has been very slow for the past two months, but it's still coming off. I consume 900-1200 calories a day, depending on how much and what I let myself snack. I sometimes go under 900 on random busy days. My surgeon doesn't push Protein like others do. I think his guidelines are 50-70g. I use shakes on work mornings so there's 20g and I eat yogurt and cheese. I've never been a big meat eater. One good thing about eating meat is its very filling and sticks with me longer than other Proteins. You're doing great! Keep up the good work. I think surgeons want us to loos as much as we can quickly while we're in the "honeymoon" phase with our sleeves.

199 At Last!
Thanks all! The encouragement from folks here is what keeps me going sometimes! I don't even know what my driver's license says I weigh. Probably 170 or 180... next goal!!

199 At Last!
I had to spend a weekend camping (tortured) to do it but I finally dropped down below 200!! I haven't weighed this in more than 12 years. I'm wearing a dress I wore to work in the 90s and I feel great! Thank you sleeve!

Exactly 100 Lbs. Gone And Finally Out Of The 2's! Yay!
You look amazing!!! Congrats!

Really Starting To Get Depressed....
I've been hovering just above 200 forEVER! Ok, well the last month. I know clothes are getting looser so I know things are shifting around and I was at 201 yesterday morning. I have to go in and see my jerk PCP for my annual check-up/check-in and I'd really like to be below 200 on his scale... so I've been putting off going in! I got my blood work done this morning though so it'll need to be in the next couple weeks. Oh the joy! I feel ya! It's a huge drag but it's gotta start coming off sooner or later!
