January 2012 Sleevers!
Tif 2.0 - my heart goes out to you. My son is only three so I just told him I was going to the Dr. I did get out a journal I started when trying to get pregnant with him and I wrote to him telling him how much I love him and that I was doing this for the both of us. I went and had my will & trust updated too... Hope your surgery goes off without a hitch! big hugs!!

3 Weeks Later.. My Thoughts
Yay!!! It is so nice to hear happy stories! I too feel like I've had a charmed sleeve experience. Monday will be three weeks for me and I haven't a complaint (other than the cost of calcium citrate!). I haven't thrown up, had any bathroom troubles and haven't had any bad reactions to anything I've tried to eat (since the yucky sugarfree hospital jello). It is scary to hear about things going wrong. It's like my son- I feel like I hit the lottery twice with a healty kid AND excellent sleeve experience.

1-Week Post Op Sleeve And I Feel Great !
So happy to hear you're doing so well! I had a great experience too! It's kind of sad that we have to get so heavy before insurance cares enough to help.

Sleeved January 23Rd!
Each day gets better and it's crazy to exist on 300 or so calories a day for a week+ but I lived through it! You'll do great! I did have an easier time with warm things and didn't like anything too sweet.

This Is A Big Day For Me!
Yay!!! Good for you! Keep up the good work!

Calcium Oops!
I would totally by the bulk chews at costco but it's calcium carbonate and my surgeon is very specific on calcium citrate, not carbonate. I need to google the difference between the two...

Calcium Oops!
I just realized I've only been taking half the amount of calcium they want me to take! I ordered some of the bariatric advantage calcium chews and they just arrived. I opened them up and figured I'd give them a try (my insurance nurse thought the chews would be preferable to gummies) and realized I'd have to take SIX to get all the calcium! That means it's a 10 day supply! I paid $38 and change after shipping for three bags. That's more than a dollar a day for calcium alone! I guess I've got to make up for all the food I'm not buying! After discovering that I needed six, I looked at the bottle of the gummies I'd been taking and they were 500 units per serving but a serving is two, not one! OOPS!! I've only been taking three a day. Now I need to look at the B12...

Some Random Incision Questions
I have five and the same one between and just below the boobs! I didn't have a drain. I think three are the camera holes and the two larger ones are the working holes. I remember the nurse telling me that the one the stomach comes out generally has the most pain and bruising. If that's the case, the one just to my left from my bellybutton is the "exit wound". I'm over two weeks out and that spot is still bruised!

Clear Liquid Diet Question
I'm so, so, so glad I had this done. I'm 40, 5'7" and started at 268 (Dr. has my start at 266). I'm on 88mcg Levothyroxine and have been on thyroid meds for about 5 years. I've been dieting since I was 9 years old. I bought a bunch of stuff too and have most of a flat of vitawater zero I'll probably never drink, a box of sugarfree popsicles that will only get used if I cave in and give my son artifically sweetened junk. I might go through the popsicles when it gets hot, but for now they're taking up space in my small freezer. The things that I loved best were strained progresso Soups, progresso makes a chicken broth that has rosemary, thyme and basil- it's pretty "herby" tasting but I really liked it mixed with the progresso soups. Same for vegetable broth from Trader Joes. These liquids aren't always totally clear but they're what my surgeon's group suggested. You will do great! You've got a gorgeous little baby (profile pic?) you want to chase around - trust me I know - my son is 3 and I'm so tired of trying to run after him and have tons of excess flab bounce around! I plan to swim with him this summer!

Three Weeks Post-Op
I'm sorry you're hurting. I'm pain free unless my toddler manages to get an accidental jab or kick into one of my incision sites. Hope you feel better soon! I've been using my treadmill at home too and it's been great. Good luck!

Bougie? (Mispelled)
I don't know either. All I know is he took 85%. When he said he was taking 85% my friend who drove me about fell off her chair!

Clear Liquid Diet Question
Can you call your surgeon's office? My surgeon doesn't recommend protein shakes at all. His philosophy is that they just slow weight loss and if one is heavy enough for this surgery they have enough reserves to last them for some time. Each surgeon or group seems to have their own method.

Absolutely The Worst Experience
I too had some pretty bad nausea the first 18 hours. I just wanted to sleep and the nurses are trained to get you up and walking. I was also confused about the volume of fluids I could take in at once do the nurses were also not happy about what I was taking in and weren't happy with the amount of urin I produced. It will get better! I joe it gets better soon for you!
