  1. Hi Everyone and Happy New Year! I am 3 months and 2 days out. I have developed a rather disturbing symptom in the past two weeks. I am bruising all over my body. I don't remember hurting myself or bumping into anything. My husband is embarrassed to go out with me. He is afraid someone is going to think he is abusing me. Did anyone else experience this or do you have any idea what might be causing this? I I haven't changed my diet, pills, fluid etc. Thanks for all your info. It has helped me so much with my concerns.

Just curious! Does this include pre-surgery loss? I am 3 months out and my Dr. says to include weight loss from the time you start your journey (usually the highest weight you have been). Not sure if others agree.
  3. Best of luck to both of you. You are in my prayers.
  4. I didn't experience this until I was 3 weeks out. My doctor advised me to skip the protein drink in the morning and start with a warm liquid drink with spacing my pills every 10 min. Then an hour later have my breakfast. He prescibed an RX but the thing that helped me thru it was sucking on ginger mints. I tried several but the ones that worked the best were Newman's own at Amazon. They have others like Altoids and you can read the reviews. It seemed to get better after I got my protein from solids but I occasionally get a little and pop the mint. Hope you get some relief soon.
  5. Congrats on moving on to the next stage. Some foods I ate were fried or soft boiled eggs, or breakfast sausage patties (I cooked the whole package and then took one out as needed) topped with cheddar cheese. Just like Holly said I found seafood to be a friend. I still liked getting the protein from Wendy's Chili, and soft meats like moist homemade meatloaf in small bites. Probably some of the things you were pureeing are good in small bites. Are you going to the party tomorrow night?
  6. Niceeee side step! I'll try it with you Know who. How are you feeling?
  7. Thank you for that info. I will check it out. Feeling better about the size now with the info shared here. :Banane55:
  8. As usual you guys have helped me so much. I do feel tightening when I eat dense food and did not realize an orange is a slider. I just get worried the surgery won 't work for me because of my age. Thanks to you all for responding. It helped so much!
  9. Hi everyone. I thought I posted this before but I can't find it and got no responses so maybe I forgot to hit post. I think I left some brain cells on the OR table LOL! Anyway, my doctor said becaus of my age(68) he used a 36 bougie instead of 32. Something about the esophagus as one gets older doesn't stretch as much. So I am wondering if I have enough restriction. I can eat a whole large orange with no trouble! Is anyone else able to do this or is this a sign of not enough restriction. I hate to ask the dr. As he might think I am questioning his expertise. Would, as always, appreciate your feedback!
  10. Amen to that! I am 68 and wish I would have done it years ago. I was able to walk a mile and a half today. It may not seem a lot to some but I used to get winded just walking from the store to the parking lot. I had a heart stint put in 6 years ago. My husband, who walks every day, was shocked I could accomplish that after only 7 weeks. Heck, I think he was shocked period that I could keep up with his 6'3"stride. We are all on an amazing journey and it is soooo nice to share your company.
  11. Wow!!! You look fabulous Dahling! Would you mind shgaring what you typically eat BF L D Snacks and(about how many calories?) Do you work out a lot I know we all lose differently and it's nice to see a success story and what you think may be the reason. Was it all since surgery? Thanks so much.
  12. I like the 30 min before and 30 after. I could handle that. Thanks everyone for your input.

Thanks for your help. I will be getting my blood work done when I see my Primary Phy. when I fly home in a week.. I am not feeling tired at all,was one of my clues when I would get injections for anemia. . If anything I am not getting enough sleep. I have not seen him since my surgery so I'll have to mention both of these issues. Thanks again!
  14. I am 7 weeks out and have intense ice cravings. I read some place that this can be a sign of anemia. I am curious if this has happened to anyone else. I read that seasoning food helps with taste and also wonder if it is due to those spices-nothing real hot-salt, pepper, chopped garlic, onions etc. As always any feedback is greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi everyone. Hope you are enjoying the post Holiday weekend. I am confused about liquid/foods and am asking for your help. My doctor has said do not "drink" 60min. before or after you eat. Ok, seems simple enough. However, lets say you have finished "eating" soup. Liquid or food? Could you then have an entree? Or if you consider the soup, food how about following it with a popsicle? (food or liquid?). I know these aren't big questions but I don't want to "wash" my food out. I know if the soup is so thick you could eat the ingredients with a fork it would be a food, but what about thinner soups? Wondered what your thoughts are. Thanks!
  16. Thank you so much for posting this. I have already had my surgery and am appealing the denial so any info like this is a help in supporting my case. I also sent a copy to my doctor in hopes it might help others in their challenge of denial. Happy Thanksgiving :biggrinjester: :Banane57:
  17. Have you spoken directly with your surgeon or only the scheduler? Sometimes if the surgeon knows the circumstances s/he will make an exception and stay late, come in another day etc. If he had an emergency surgery they would find room and sometimes they allow room in the schedule for that. I would definitely plead my case directly even if the only way to see him was another appointment face to face. They are human and if he says "no" then you'll feel no guilt switching ( though you shouldn't anyway)! It's your money! Let us know what happens.
  18. Hi, I feel that way but it is getting better. I am 6 weeks out and have dealt with nausea most of the time. My doctor told me to forget the morning protein shake and to start with warm coffee and meds. Let that settle for an hour then eat protein, fruit, etc. It does seem to help having something warm on the tummy first thing. I also take a ginger capsule and that has helped .Hang in there. Also if possible try to get outdoors and get some sun. Hope this helps.
  19. Good luck to you on your first step of the rest of your life. Keep us posted how you are doing and chime in whenever you feel like it! :banane58:
  20. Ohhhh! What were your symptoms and how did they discover it? Antibiotic or surgery? That must have been tough and I hope you are on the mend!
  21. Hi All, Well I am still concerned. I am one month out tomorrow and ever since I have started on small bites of food chewed, chewed, chewed, slowly, slowly, I have had nausea (worse in the morning and NOT pregnant) and after each bite have a need to burp (hard and it hurts). Now I'm wondering if anyone had a stricture and what it feels like. Or if anyone else had this feeling. It makes me not to want to even bother to eat. Am very down about this and don't remember reading about this. Thanks!
  22. Once again thanks for your advice and encouragement. It helps the head to know that what I am experiencing, you have as well and to have one's hand held thru all this. God Bless!
  23. Hi All, I am now almost 4 weeks out and have been told to start adding small pieces of food to my diet. I am following the rule about no liquids 30 min before or 1 hour afterward and chewing, chewing small bites. I had no problem with ground meat, ham salad, and pork. But I made a slow cooked pot roast, very tender, ate a few small bites after chewing well, and I started getting these awful pains coming from mid-chest, in waves and felt like I was going to die! I could do nothing but wait it out. Finally I started to try to burp and up came what seemed to be "slime". I was so frightened that I was reluctant to eat the next day. But at lunch, ham salad went down fine. So I tried some chicken in ragu sauce, and again pain, then slime. Now I am concerned I can not eat meat or dense solids. Did anyone else have this, how long did it last and how do you handle it when it happens? Is there something you take to get thru this? Thanks as always for all of your help!
  24. Thanks, so much for your help. I'll definitely check some of these out. I'm 3 weeks postop and my face is where I am losing. That, and the girls are starting to take a walk down South!!!
  25. Hi Everyone, I told my husband he may have a thinner wife but she is going to be wrinkled and bald. I was blessed with good skin and with a full face and therefore people always thought I was younger than I am. Now that I am losing weight lots of wrinkles are starting to appear. I don't mind the others, but the ones showing up on my face are very noticeable. Never having delt in this area, I was wondering if anyone had found a product to use on their face that seemed to work well for them? I"m not looking for foundation make up, more like something to use daily on the skin. Thanks!!!
