  1. I agree... you need to work on what causes you to eat and address those problems up front. It take a whole psychological change in our behavior and lifestyle to be successful. Do not expect the band to do all the work. It will not. Good luck to you.
  2. YooHoo!! I love NSVs! I think that booth at subway is looking good. We will have to try it out.! LOL You go girl!
  3. My doc put me on half dose Miralax daily. Fiber and stool softeners did nothing for me. I am pretty regular now... but it is still not daily. Remember you are eating much less. Do chat with either your PCP or Lap Band doctor for their advice for your situation.
  4. Just remember bad news travels faster than good news. Many people post only when in trouble, but there are by far many more successes than failures. If the band was as unsuccessful as you seem to imply, the doctors would have stopped performing the procedure by now. I have heard many people with the sleeve complain about overall health impacts, but most band failures are patient compliance failures. If you are truly committed to follow lap band rules, I would stick with lap band. Maybe ask your doc about plication when he does your lap band.
  5. My bill is lower, because i don't buy highly processed junk food any more. My net food bills are down as well since I am eating healthier food at home, no take out pizza, etc.
  6. Never needed it. Most don't seem too and many docs consider it a fad diet. Also many think it is great. I think it would depends on your circumstances. Lots of info in the thread posted above.
  7. Both of the above are great use at home fitness tools.
  8. Welcome... I've always wanted to visit Iceland!
  9. You may also find it in some grocery stores.
  10. Nervous is normal. Just sip and walk when you can once you are home. Congrats on your surgery!
  11. Hope you are better now... if not, call the doc when you need help!
  12. Missy is right, time for a visit to the nutritionist. But... that said, congrats on the 30 pounds!
  13. I can shoot, but prefer not to carry. It is personal choice. I respect everyone's choice to choose for themselves. I do oppose semi-automatic guns... I hope you don't need to shoot that deer that many times... lead is tough to chew!
  14. SF hot chocolate makes a good filler as well. I think it is very smart of you to start early getting used to the the routine. Best wishes on the rest of your journey!
  15. Projectile issue sounds new to me and I have have read a lot of stories. I would call the doctor.
  16. Normal... and learn to eat the proper amounts and chew, chew, chew and sip, sip, sip. Don't count on fills to do all the work, they won't. Lap Band is a tool, not a magic wand!
  17. It will happen. Try to stay positive and focused on the goal!
  18. Call the doc or nutritionist. If you were not told to do a pre-op diet you may not require one, all docs are different. If you... think of it as a period to get a jump start on your weight loss. That said, I got specific instructions on what to eat for both pre and post op phases. Ask the experts, you medical practice.
  19. Some take longer to fully recover than others. Make sure you are getting enough hydration and talk to your doctor or nutritionist. They may want to recheck you blood work for vitamin deficiencies. I gained energy as the weight came off as well.
  20. I agree with AJ and CarolinaGirl. You can find good and bad stories here. Most of the band failures that I have seen since I joined the forum have be patient compliance issues. People who believe that the band is some magic device that does it all for you. The band is a tool and you have to work with it and follow the recommended eating rules. I believe the band will affect your children positively because as you learn to eat better, you will be helping them to learn to make better choices too. I have never regretted by decision. Yes... I have been stuck, but I have not actually vomited since getting the band, even with a bad stomach bug. Best wishes whatever you decide, but I would vote to go for it!
  21. You will have to make your own decision. I told my immediate family only and 2 very close friends. No one else knows. It was not that I was worried what they would say, but that I wanted to avoid the crap about taking the easy way out. This journey is NOT EASY! If people ask, I tell them I went to a nutritionist (true,) I am eating high protein diet with portion control (true,) and I am exercising regularly. The focus for me was getting healthy and how I did was my business.
  22. Completely agree! Very well said!
