  1. Jill, when I was on mushies, it was the Fourth of July...I pureed not only a hot dog, but baked beans and cole slaw, too! And I made a watermelon granita... I totally understand.
  2. Suzanne, you WILL get there, it is tough and disheartening to not see the scale move, but keep doing what you are doing, log every bite and EVERY sip of whatever you take in (so you can see not only calories, but carbs/fat/protein, etc) in something. There are many sites out there if you haven't found one yet: sparkpeople.com mydailyplate.com calorieking.com fitday.com (I use this one) and many more. If you haven't started using one, it's a great thing! I'm pulling for you!

I figured out the calories, it was on page one of this same thread! :rolleyes2:
  4. Go pick up the stuff you need and hand carry it to the Bariatrics office yourself. It may cost you a little $ for the copies, and the gas to the Dr's but it would alleviate some of this stress.
  5. Boo, what can we do? Anything? I'm here if you need to talk or vent or anything. I no longer have close contacts with Johnny Two Fingers or Frankie Sticks, so I can't help you that way, but I'd be happy to lend an ear and try to come up with something! It sucks that life isn't fixed because we lose weight, it seems it just lifts the veil that was covering other things. Dammit! Why? Why can't it make things better????? Take Care, you!
  6. You might also want to check out the Life After Removal Forum, too. Life After Lap-Band Removal - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support Here's the link to Complications: Lap-Band Complications - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support You can also navigate there via the home page.
  7. Check out the complications Forum, lots of folks there have had a slip and many have had another band placed.
  8. I know it 's frustrating (believe me, I know ), but I keep saying to myself that in my life PTB (prior to banding) I'd have gained a few pounds a month. So 8lbs is good. It's considered normal weight loss with the band (1-2lbs per week). First fills RARELY give any restriction, or any lasting restriction. Most often it's the third or fourth fill that finally sticks with you. And remember, it can take a couple of weeks for a fill to "kick in" as well. Check out Wendel's post about how the fills actually work in the FAQ and References forum here. It's very helpful.

  10. Very well said, Green. I agree wholeheartedly. Lauren, you did a great job of summing my thoughts up as well.
  11. This is the new skin and look to LBT, you can find New Posts under Links and the search is a lot easier! Also, the old "User CP" is now My Account. Hope this helps!!
  12. I'm at a loss as to how NOT to pull it off... Why on earth would he ever need to know? It's not like it's written in giant orange numbers on the end of your bed or tattooed on your face. My husband didn't acompany me to a single appointment, and he likely never will. Why would he need to? He did go with me to surgery and picked me up the next day. I was not weighed before OR, and if I were, I would have asked him not to look (but he wouldn't have anyway). If anyone has ever asked me my weight in front of him, I decline to say while he's there. He understands and is not offended by it.
  13. Seriously, I'd have stripped for a while and put myself through med school. In a high class, high dollar club.

  15. Absolutely, in fact, call and cancel with the one you don't want and make an appt with the guy you do. You are the customer. You HAVE to be comfortable and confident with your doctor. I know it might be frustrating if you have to wait longer to get the doc you want, but it makes all the difference in the world. This is your body and your life, you should be completely happy with your decision and you should have who you want. Not all docs who are good surgeons will make you feel warm and fuzzy, and the same goes in reverse, there are awful surgeons who are really nice people. But you have to have a balance. Good luck!!!
  16. LOL, I hear ya!!! I have only bought one piece of clothing since I've lost weight, which is doggone amazing for me. I got a pair of jeans that fit. I had to. I told myself I wouldn't buy anything until 100lbs was gone, but the pants were falling off...So I have a rope belt holding the others up I don't have an Avenue really close to where I usually go, but I can modify my routes.
  17. In the meantime, go back to the mushies phase. Cottage cheese, Lowfat yogurt, puree some canned chicken breast and make a chicken salad. How about refried (fat free) Beans with a little salsa and greek strained yogurt (like Fage) on them, that's very high in Protein and good for you. Lump crab meat is moist and very flaky. Avocados, another good thing.
  18. So you are not having a go at us? Absolutely, what an awful diet, and not nutritious for you at all. If you are following the band rules and chewing, chewing, chewing and taking tiny bites and good food still won't go down, then I suggest you see your doc for a slight unfill. You have to take care of you.
  19. Yup, it stinks. But whaddaya do? She looks like she's gained at least 20 lbs in the past year, so maybe that has something to do with it. So what's the name of the shaper you wear from The Avenue? I'm on their site and I'm looking at the high waist shaping bike shorts for $26
  20. I hear you, I can't tell a difference, either. Not that I've liost nearly what you have, but I am down a bit and a couple sizes. And having a friend I haven't seen for over a year not mention a thing about it doesn't help. Makes me really think I haven't lost a pound.
  21. ROFL, LOL!!! I thinks someone's having a go at us!!!
  22. Money, and "guaranteed" success with RNY. Well, guaranteed malabsorption, but guaranteed loss of some sort. Also, later down the line when you've regained your weight from the RNY, they can band you and get more $$. Sorry, that was waaaay cynical, I guess. For some people, RNY *is* the best choice. But again, it has to be YOUR decision, with some good input from the Dr., of course. But you are the one who ultimately has to live with it. Some insurances only pay for one bariatric procedure per lifetime and MD's think that if you "fail" at LapBand then that's your one shot.
  23. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! But again, to know if they cover fills, et cetera, you need to talk to them. There is no way for me to know that, and there is no "typical" situation with insurance, sorry...

Holy CROW! That's 385 calories for your drink!!!! While that's find now when you are not eating much, you might want to rethink your recipe farther down the line...
  25. It *looks* like it should be covered, by why wait for HR to call you back? Call your insurance company (with your card in hand, or make sure you have them look up your specific policy number) and ask them yourself. That's what they are there for, make 'em work!
