  1. Bluetigereyes can you tell me what your green zone feels like? I was banded Sept 2011 and still feel like I'm white knuckling it every day.
  2. I don't eat anything junkie except on rare occasion. I don't even indulge in bread. Mainly protein veggies and fruit. I'm losing (slowly-which is fine) but I'm struggling like I don't have the band. It does stop me when I eat solid protein. I can eat vegetables and fruit in extra large quantities. Is everything other than protein a slider??? Bc if I judge by a cup of strawberries I am def not at the sweet spot
  3. I realize it's different for everyone but I'm wondering what foods I should NOT be able to eat and what quantities I shouldn't be able to eat. I do have some restriction but think I need more!! I can eat steak, rice etc and pretty decent quantities although my band is 9cc in an 11cc band. Also are you generally more full when you have reached the sweet spot? I'm still white knuckling it.
  4. I'm beginning to get pretty frustrated. I did expect the band to make things easier. I don't know was that too much to expect? I'm still hungry all the time. I eat less at meals but I don't stay full. I joined weight watchers last month and have lost 8 lbs or so. I went for my full appt and she said since my weight loss had been so good lately she didn't want to fill me. I have 9 in an 11. Now I'm bummed I didn't insist. Should I be so tight that I can't eat bread and rice etc? Bc I can def eat everything. I just don't understand how people have lost 50 plus lbs. I'm hanging in there but losing hope. Any words of encouragement are appreciated
  5. Congrats! That's exactly what I'm hoping for. I was banded in Sept but haven't found my groove yet. Any secrets to your success?
  6. Thanks for responding. You look fabulous so the band obviously worked for you. Is it always a struggle? Once I get to that magical place called "proper restriction" will everything be easier?
  7. I've read all about "bandster hell" but I'm starting to think this thing will never work. I have had 3 fills for a toal of 9 in an 11cc band. I'm trying but it's a struggle to stay on track. I'm still hungry all the time. I mean seriously slider foods are carbs?? I can still eat cheese-its like they are nothing and have to chew chicken for 10 min?!? I thought slider foods would be Wendy's frostys. That said the band is slowing me down some BUT I thought I would be more in control of my hunger. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat the bad stuff. Can some of you successful people please explain how I can join you in that success. I remember reading a post from the moderator before I got banded on proper restriction but I can't find it now. Do I just need to get proper restriction and it will all fall into place? Hunger gone? Control gained? Thank you for all your help in advance
  8. Has anyone experienced pain or discomfort around their port? I've had a cough for a week or so and yesterday spent the evening with friends laughing really hard and when I went to bed owwww I could NOT get comfortable! I really thought I would never feel this thing. I had my surgery 5 months ago.
  9. I definitely feel better/tighter from the exercise. My clothing size has not budged either. I get that I'm eating too much and haven't really changed my eating habits. My big question is doesn't this band ever force me to go that? I'm not looking for the easy way out I'm just disappointed because I feel like its the same old story. Struggling with control.
  10. I was banded Sept. 26, 2011 and besides preop diet and the first three weeks I've lost nothing I have 8cc in an 11cc realize band and feel little restriction. Still hungry all the time, still eating like I did. I didn't expect this to be a breeze but I did expect the band to force me into a groove. Is it possible to never get proper restriction? What does it feel like when I do? Will I not be hungry anymore? I'm 240 down from 280 this time last year and I workout every day. Hard! Ive been at a standstill on the weightloss since summer.
  11. Hi everyone Looking for some words of encouragement. I was banded 9/27 and lost 23 lbs in the first three weeks of swollen stomach and generally feeling lousy. Since then I had a fill in nov of 5cc and 2days ago another 3 in my realize band which holds 11cc. I am starving!!! Trying to stick to soft foods just so mentally i will stay on track But I just ate some pretzels anddddd nothing! Little restriction. What? I'm already at 8?!? I know I'm not supposed to worry about the number but really?!? I'm getting discouraged. I've gained 9 back. Seems like its the same old of not being able to control myself. Worried this won't work for me If I go back for more will I ever get there?
  12. Does anyone have any recommendations for good protein powder? And also can you have too much protein? I had 129g yesterday. Thanks
  13. I'm 6 weeks out and got my first fill of 5cc yesterday. I'm just wondering what it feels like to be in the green zone. Are you still head hungry?? Do you just feel full quickly and that satisfies you?
  14. I had my first fill today! I'm so excited. I've been in banster hell since week 3 or so. Lost 23 in that time then gained 5 back. Hoping this will help this week. I was so surprised that he gave me 5cc! I was expecting a much smaller fill. I'm a little afraid of all the pb-ing and getting stuck stuff. Guess I will take it reallllllly slow!
  15. Omg a 14! How awesome. Seriously I've had it with only having one option at the mall! I hope you are right. I'm so worried about being in the same spot this time next year its so scary. I'm actually down 40 lbs since January (about 20 since surgery--all in first 2 weeks) but it's been up and down forever. It's such a head game for me I need to hear about other slow starts to awesome finishes! Thanks for sharing your story!!!
  16. I'm 6 weeks out and can (and do) eat ANYthing. Every day I start out good every night I end up feeling guilty and bad and am freaking out! What if this doesn't work?!? It was really my last hope. So bummed out feeling pretty defeated and hopeless. First fill is thurs. Dr said I will get about 3 cc in my 10cc band (I think that's what he said anyway). Are there any successful people out there that had this rough start??
  17. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm 5 weeks out and just can't seem to get to a place where I feel perfectly normal physically. Especially happens if I'm overdoing it.
  18. Hi helpful friends! I'm getting ready to start back to the gym and I'm really nervous. I'm 4 weeks out and will start back at 6 weeks. I've been on the treadmill a bit but my gym routine is fairly intense (way more intense than anything I've ever done before and I was actually loving it???). Anyway it's running lifting, dragging a 90lb sled, running holding a 20 lb weight over my head. It's a bootcamp program (similar to crossfit) Anyway I have a friend that had a slipped band and they told her it probably happened from her lifting her sick mother. I asked my doctor and he said there's nothing o can do to hurt the band but I'm nervous. Have any of you done intense workout similar to this? Is 6 weeks enough time? Anyway I have a friend who had a slipped band and
  19. Me too. I was banded 9/26. I lost 15 lbs the first week. 5 the second. Then nothinnnnnn.... Hate that. Makes me want to eat I have a long road I need to stay motivated and probably off the scale.
  20. Wow! That's interesting! I do find that excercise slows me down on the scale( although helps me everywhere else). Do you mind if I ask how your weight loss had been the 5 months on 800 calories?
  21. I saw the nutritionist this week. Along with the Protein first talk we discussed caloric intake. I'm on week 3 she said 600-800 calories. Which is fine but really? I only lost a pound this week and I'm thinking maybe it's too low? I know I know don't rush it I will get there but after a week of quarter cup servings of food a scale victory would be nice right? So my question is...do you really believe you need to eat more to lose more? Or is it best to stay so restricted?
  22. I just asked my nutritionist about sushi. She thought I would be ok to eat it eventually ( I'm only almost 3 weeks out). She said it will probably only be 2 pieces but I should be able to tolerate. I hope so! My favorite date night food.
  23. Hi checking in 237.6 not sure what I was last week haha down just a little. Hoping for more this week Christina
  24. I'm 2 and a half weeks post op. Just found out that I really have no restriction and went a little (not a lot) overboard today. I'm supposed to be on 600-800 calories a day. I did that and then kept going prob another 300 or 400. I feel fine just mad that I fell off the wagon. Worried that I damaged my band/stomach. Ugh! Feels like old times again. I've lost 22 lbs since surgery. Trying to be positive. Guess this is one of those parts the band doesn't take care of huh?? I'm worried about tomorrow. I've been known to not stop once I start. Slippery slope. Any advise? Words of encouragement?
  25. I'm 2 weeks out and have had 3 c-sections and a gallblader surgery. I have to say the actual pain was minimal- seriously just discomfort-- i didnt even need pain meds or even tylenol--although.... I'm still not totally myself. I had no gas at all. I just felt tired and weak sometimes light headed till about day 10. If i sit or stand for too long now im uncomfortable but its ok I was hoping bc I had been getting in shape since feb it would be easier BUT as everyone will tell you everyone is different. I tried to predict my recovery too it's just impossible to do. That said you will do fine! It's def an easier surgery than a c-section. Just listen to your body once you have had your surgery and make sure you have help if you need it good luck!
