Congrats on the band. Remember you have to do some walking to try and get the gas out of you.

As soon as possible, pain or not, start walking around the room or in the hallway. This helps alleviate any gas out of you. I also had a hernia repaired as a in-n-out patient, I walked all night within my home and did take my pain medicines for the 2 days or so. Sip plenty of Water even if oyu feel bloated or full.
Best wishes on your band, On the road to recovery each step you take for better health and quality of life.

Hey everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here, I've officially had the worlds craziest work month (the life of a nurse.)
Anyway, I was banded on 7/25/12 and I'm feeling really great. Just had my 2nd fill yesterday, so I now have a total of 7cc in my band. I'm feeling so close to my "sweet spot", Dr. Thinks my next fill should really work wonders. Yeah!
I haven't weighed myself since 2 days before my last fill, in which I actually did 2 days of clear liquids& Protein shakes prior to the fill and I'm going to do an extra2 days of it as well...sooo a total of 7 days of stage 1. I feel that its jumpstarting my diet again. My last weigh in at the doctors I was 209/210 (myscale said 209, his said 210) which was on the 20th.
I've given myself a challenge. I told myself I want.to be out of the 200s by Oct. 1st, and its driving me nuts that I am not weighing myself everyday BUT guys, its so much better this way! I feel like I'm losing, I've been exercising everyday and burning a good amount of calories and my diet is awesome.
Please please please pray that this can happen!! Even if the scale reads 201/200 on Oct 1st, I'll still feel great. I will update you guys on that day.
I hope you're all doing well, I'm so grateful on my weight loss journey so far!
    Thanks!!!!XOXO
    -Melissa M.

Your daily Protein goal should actually be a range of numbers to strive for, not just one.
During my pre op nutrition education class, the dietitian informed me that my daily Protein goal would be between 65 to 82 grams per day.
At this stage, being 6 months out, I do get most of my protein from the meals I am eating. It's good to know that you can make up any deficits with a Protein shake in the evening.

Thanks for all the comments and support, you guys are awesome. Not only did I complete the pre op diet but, I also list 7lbs, in the process. I am in day three post op and it is a challenge understanding the different sensations my body is experiencing but, at least I am gaining an understanding of this whole process. Good luck to everybody!

I am on my first day of my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I can honestly say that I needed this thread, my stomach is growling, I'm going to go drink some Water and distract myself. i can tell that most of my "hunger" is mental as well, I got through the work day just fine. @rachel please don't give up, we are in this together. With everything it is one day at a time, if you didn't make it one day just pick up where you left off the next day. Believe in yourself!

Hello all my fellow bandsters and future bandsters!! I want to take the time to just give a few encouraging words today! Do not allow a few bad choices over shadow the great choices we are making. If we are recognizing the bad choices we are making, it shows we have come a long way. We are more congnisant of what we do and how we do it. Can we truly say we recognized it before the lapband or the start of our journey? Each day we spend in this lifestyle is a challenge, but we also grow. Don't beat yourself up over a drink of coke, or a slice of bread... Just recognize it and DO NOT make it a habit!!
I hope every one has a great day.... Remember today will soon be the past, but we have to ensure our future by planning for tomorrow!

Yes! It totally will! You can not OD on B-12 because your body automatically releases the excess through your urine. I take the 2000 sublingual 3 x a week. It does make a difference. I usually take it the day I am going to my trainer.

I don't know if this will help, and sorry if it is too graphic, but post surgery, vomitting from being stuck is not like the vomitting you have done in the past. I was like you and would cry when I vomitted, and I hardly ever cry. Since surgery though, it really isn't the same, and I don't want to go into too much detail, but if you chew, chew, chew and eat really slow, you should not have any issues. Also if you get ill with a stomach bug and feel the need to vomit, you should get ahold of your doctor asap and get an anti naseau medicine. They work really well, and a lot of us banders have them on hand Good luck to you!

Learning things that I should b doing after just 5 days since my last fill I am already down 5 lbs the band is my new best friend!!! I have the same problem running to the bathroom if I get sick but I think is worth it to b skinny!!!!

Thus far, yes. I haven't had any problems. I am careful to follow doctors orders and CHEW and take smaller bites. For me I felt like this would be the guide I need to actually live a healthier life. The band just helps me stay full longer, so I don't end up grazing. I am pretty good about if I'm not hungry I won't eat, so it just helps me from being hungry so much. I do make better choices on what to eat. I count calories with myfitnesspal and work out. Now 6 weeks out, I like my new life style. The band is my motivation, it's like my little plastic inner cheer leader saying we can do this. Maybe it is placebo effect, maybe it's not, but all I know is I am enjoying the banded life. My weight is coming off slow, but it is coming off and I am sticking to a "diet" something I have never done, because my band tells me I have to. I can't eat to much anymore with getting sick, and since I don't like that feeling I do not eat to much. I don't like being hungry all the time so I don't eat or drink useless calories.
Maybe I am odd, maybe I am still in the honeymoon faze with the band, but I am really enjoying the new me.

Some people add milk or Water to 'fluff' up their scrambled eggs. I think that causes problems for bandsters. If you have eggs I'd recommend NOT adding any kind of liquid to them when you scramble them or eat them over easy or fried. However, it's always a learning experience with the band. You could just be tight one day...or that time of day...or dehydrated. I try not to cross any food completely off my list. I just try to learn when it's okay and when it's not okay to eat it or how I have to eat it whether that be really slow or lots of chewing or BOTH! Good luck.
