You have to remember Gym rats have never a day in their life ever had to put up with what we have. He works out probably and hour or two every single day and sees that you should do the same to get his same results. We are not and never will be gym rats because if we were were would need surgery or people like him to help us. I say this: Your decision to have surgery is your first and foremost decision and it doesnt matter who really liked or likes it or will like it after it was done. I worked with a girl who was morbidly obese and tried every single diet losing 40 here gaining 60 there and told me to my face that it was not going to be easy and see how slow I was going to lose weight well I lost 70lbs within 6 monhts and have kept it off. Am I at goal weight no and Im not because I quit smoking and the weight loss just stopped however if I never get down to my goal weight that 70lbs was all I needed to live a life of health and not get up every single morning and take 10 medications and going to be take 10 more. I am back to my healthy self and thats all that matters and if he doesnt want to support you tell him to go find some skinny ass wink wink to work out with. I dont need a personal trainer I just need to do me and so do you. Dont let people steal your joy for what you want to do because when it comes down to it none of this was easy from the beginning or now trying to maintain and be happy where I am. Girlie give up the trainer and get a new you that you deserved to have

Why would you think that you would never reach a plateu in weight loss with the band. If you are that much filled what are you going to do months, years from now when you have no room to put any more fills. Try increasing your calories and stop thinking about fills. You have to live with this thing the rest of your life and when you are completely full then what are you going to do when you are stuck or can eat whatever you want.

I really think you should be calling your doctor tomorrow and asking him or her all these questions. What may be normal for some might not be for you.

There is always going to be plateus that goes along with any type of dieting. If you are having trouble eating I wouldnt suggest getting a fill yet. You dont have much room left to fill right now. I would say wait it out for a while and try to see if you can lose without a fill. In my opinion I think you are restricted enough you are just reaching a plateu and if you do get a fill and there is nothing left to fill and you stop losing what will happen. I would just wait for a while and see how you do. As long as you keep losing something I wouldnt worry about it.

As long as you are losing weight I would not get a fill. No one realizes that the band is for life and if you get filled up what else do you have to work with. If it keeps going down dont get a fill. Weight loss is supposed to be slow. A half a pound a week is 52lbs in a year.

SMDH if you want to eat Cookies and chocolate milk then you deserve to stay obese. Really???? you want advise here it is. I dont feel sorry for you because you said you will never follow the rules of wls so therefore you dont deserve any pity. If you are that tight but can eat cookies then something is wrong in your head. If you cant eat real food then you cant eat cookies. Im sorry but you do not deserve pity you deserve a good talking to from your doctor and see if he agrees that if you can eat cookies you can eat food.

Cookies crumble in your mouth DUH. You have issues really you do. If you can eat cookies which are dry as hell then you can eat some chicken or something. You dont want to and you dont or you would have. It is obvious that you find excuses for every thing that anyone has told you to do. I have back issues also but excersise 4 times a week and lift weights you really need to stop making excuses and either do it or just eat your cookies and chocolate milk.

Its all true. I read an alarming article that said by 2053 100% one hundred percent of Americans will be obese. That is sad and it doesn't have to be if people teach their kids to eat healthy and stop patronizing these fast food places that are loaded with death. Even the salads they offer are over 400 calories yikes I can make a nice salad at home with only 200 calories and it is filling with fresh vegetables. I have learned to love vegetables they are good and healthy and I dont feel tired anymore from not eating junk. I feel energized and ready to get up in the morning not wanting to stay in bed because the carbs got me there. I love being healthy and watching everything I put in my mouth every moment of the day. Some say its radical but I can not afford to go back to being an unhealthy person. Bravo for this post.

I understand that you all are hungry but I want to know why you dont think you will be hungry? Im not being smart about it either I just want to know why everyone thinks they wont ever be hungry. Your body even with a full band will get hungry because that is what your stomach is meant to do. You may eat less and stay full longer but you will get hungry. I dont understand it. Maybe you all can help me understand it. If your surgeon gave you the correct information you would know that you are going to be hungry. The band does not stop hunger it only keeps you fuller longer once you reach your right fill amount your hunger will be there just not as much. Unfortunately you have to be on liquids after a fill to rest your stomach so you are going to be hungry.

What ever you decide to eat after WLS is totally up to you, however why waste time and money if you continue to eat like you do now. Isnt that why we all were over weight to begin with. If you want to eat whatever you want then I would say dont have the surgery. Your whole goal is to learn how to eat healthy and eat smaller portions of healthy food then you will get where you want. If you dont then you wont lose one ounce.

Could it be worse than the pain meds? Seriously? You are four days post op and want to drink alcohol? Apparently no classes, surgery or all the crap you have gone through is enough to say no I wont drink because its not that it will hurt the band but it will hurt your weight loss in the worst way. Empty calories mean less weight loss. Try consentrating on why you had the surgery and not why a glass of wine should be counted as liquid. What in the world are you seriously thinking. You know what your doctor is going to tell you even next friday? If he is a great surgeon he is going to tell you hell no about alcohol. You are way to new post op to be thinking about something you shouldnt. Just saying but the ultimate decision will be yours of course.

Ok Im going to break it as gently to the new folks as I can. YOU ARE GOING TO BE HUNGRY. If you are never hungry you would be skinny. Just because you get banded does not in any way shape or form take away your hunger. Even after fills you will be hungry. Your stomach is still there and when its empty you are going to be hungry. Over and over I see this post and it is just plain and simple you are going to be hungry. Please make a note of it. People wonder why old bandsters stop posting or leave the site its because everyone keeps asking the same questions over and over again. Your going to have gas, pain, hunger, shoulder pain, a runny nose, hiccups, gas may never go away. It is a diet forever forever forever. You can not eat whatever you want and lose weight just like with every single diet we all tried before the band. Who knows when you will get restriction. You may never but measure your food and know its enough. You dont need a whole plate of food to satisfy hunger. Write down every single thing you eat all day and drink drink drink.

cheryl2586 got a reaction from Humming Bird in Lap Band Bible for Newbies
Now it seems that people just dont know how to search the forums to find an answer to their question and repeat the same question so here I am laying it all out for ya as simple as I can: Its all normal!!!!!!!
Gas? Yes you will have gas, your stomach will growl, talk, make noises you never heard, be loud enough for the neighbors to hear it. The gas will go away within a few days or by the first week. You may never get rid of gas. It may always be there. The band changes your digestive flow causing GAS. Put gas x on your grocery list.
Pain? Yes you will have pain. It is just not an option. To what degree you have it is up to everyone. Your port site will however be sore longer than any of the other sites can take up to a couple months to feel completely pain free. One day post op pain, two three four days post op pain. You may have pain for two weeks.
Sore Throat? You may have a sore throat after surgery because they put a tube down your throat while you are sleeping.
Nausea? Most bariatric patients wake up nauseated. This is common it should not last. Have them put a patch behind your ear before you go in to surgery. However if you throw up unstoppable for more than you think is normal then call your doctor.
Problems? If you feel you are having a medical issue call your doctor. That is what they are there for. We are not medical professionals and can not diagnose medical issues.
Band slippage? If your band slips you will have uncontrolable vomiting. Not because you can eat more than normal.
HUNGER? When the swelling from surgery goes down you will BE HUNGRY. HUNGER IS SOMETHIING THAT NEVER STOPS ITS IS NATURAL FOR YOUR BODY TO TELL YOU WHEN TO EAT. You may get fuller faster but you will still get hungry.
Shoulder pain? If your pain persist more than normal you could and probably are eating too much. You have a nerve that goes from your stomach to our left shoulder and the band presses on it. Signal STOP EATING.
Head Hunger? You need to realize that the band will not control head hunger it just wont. If your stomach is growling you are hungry eat. If you just feel empty drink. If your not roaring then you are not hungry.
Restriction? You may or may not have it from the beginning. If you dont you may need a fill 6 weeks post op.
Weight loss? It is not going to be fast. Im sure you were told slow but steady and then maybe not steady after a while. Its all about you, your metabolism and your ability to stick to the diet.
Diet? The lap band is a diet and if you dont think it is then dont get it because it is a diet/life style change. You can not continue to eat the way you did before surgery and think you will lose weight because you wont. Nothing taste better in your mouth than being thin.
Soda and carbonation? Drink it if you want to expand your pouch otherwise stay clear of carbonated beverages.
Alcohol. Although alcohol will not hurt your band the empty calories will hurt your weight loss so dont attempt it. One leads to two.
If you are steady losing weight I dont suggest getting a fill. Only get a fill if your not losing weight, overly hungry but if you eat enough Protein you should stay fuller longer, and or gain back weight. If you keep losing weight you do not need a fill. Why put yourself through that when it is not necessary.
Fluids? You need to drink 64 oz of fluids after surgery whether you want to or not or risk being dehydrated. Dehydration means IV"s if you love needles then dont drink after surgery.
bread? Some may never be able to eat bread ever. Some may. Same with Pasta and rice.
Exercise? Its entirely up to you whether you want to excersise or not. The band alone is not going to do it. It is a tool and that is all it is to teach you Portion Control. If you do not use it as a tool then you will not lose weight. If you are severely overweight wait until you feel comfortable doing some type of excersise.
Eat Protein first with all your meals then add the other things you will find out you wont need so much of the other things.
Anyone want to add anything else I forgot then please do. I am not being smart just trying to answer all the questions in one place.

Well I must say this you openly admit you have neglected her for over 4 years. Thats the way to go and now you want back in because she is beautiful and thin. You need more than prayer you need to realize that women are not meant to be treated any kind of way and then when she looks like she did when you married her 11 years ago you want it all back. I feel sorry for you and your actions. You probably have lost her for good unless she sees how selfish you were and decides your marriage is worth saving. A lesson to be learned a marriage is a union between two people out of love if you decided to break that then its your fault. Sorry for being harsh but men need to stop thinking they can act any kind of way and when the chips are down they feel sorry for themselves. My husband would never treat me that way.
