  1. I would also wait until the stitches are out and the incisions are healed. I have a product from our dermatologist that is called Kelo Coat. Its for keloid scars but I put it on my incisions from my gallbladder surgery just a week ago and its almost gone now. Its expensive though about 50 dollars a tube but worth the scar disappearing. My scars from the lapband are gone.
  2. Protein will also constipate you. I take peri colace every single night and have no issues at all.
  3. Girl when I get a fill I stay swollen up to three weeks. Yes you can still be swollen. Some people just have very sensitive stomachs as I do. Yeah it's a little hellish but I deal with it and just try to eat very little and at that time only I rely on protein shakes to get me through.
  4. Well if you don't want to get fluid out, you can wait it out to see if your band loosens. Creamer should not be an issue for coffee as it does not add any bulk to the coffee. Try to eat very very small amounts. As you lose the band will loosen or maybe you have swelling also from the fill.
  5. I do not use protein shakes as well. I take very small bites maybe the size of two peas, put the fork down until its down and I know it's not stuck. When everything is getting stuck its more likely you are eating too big of a piece or too fast.
  6. I maintain on about 1,000 a day sometimes less. I don't like to increase my calories for fear of gaining but that is just me.
  7. I take nsaids all the time with no issues. It goes straight through and I need it for my arthritis. I would ask your doctor though because that is just me. Any nsaids with or without the band can cause stomach issues and bleeding. I just take it with food thats all.
  8. Congrats to you. You will do awesome.
  9. It always makes you feel good when the scale moves. You are doing fantastic.
  10. I am exstatic to say the least to shop for smaller clothes and not rely on plus size clothes. The only store I hate to shop is Ross because their clothes are so much smaller made then most. But a large to me is excitement and soon to be in a medium.
  11. You are still newly banded and probably have excessive swelling which will go down eventually. Try some gator aide frozen like a popsicle. You probably will get that down much easier then water because its cold and soothing. Also try hot tea too but not too hot. Sometimes the swelling just takes a while. Hang in there.
  12. I am maintaining also and its impossible to eat like that anymore. I just can't. Congrats on everyones success this year.
  13. Never peroxide on an open wound it damages good tissue. Just keep it clean and dry for now until you see your doctor.
  14. I never thought the day would come, that I could eat and not gain weight but it has. I have been very strict with my lapband but did have some goodies over Christmas because I love to bake. Waking up and stepping on the scale to see it not go up was a great feat in its self as I remember always gaining 10 to 20lbs from Halloween to the new year. I cooked a lot of food for Christmas but I put so little on my plate of everything. A spoon full is satisfactory to me now not 4 helpings. It's funny how things have changed for me in the aspect of food. I don't love it anymore, its just a need to keep living. It's what keeps me healthy now and not what makes me miserable. Every time I ride past a fast food joint, I cringe. It somehow sickens me to think I use to like that crap. How eating a six hundred calorie burger with 3 days worth of fat in it made me happy. I enjoyed my turkey this year because if I never could cook anything in this world, I make the most to die for turkey that is perfectly moist and seasoned all the way through. My desert yesterday was some sugarfree jello with whipped topping and I enjoyed it because I got real whip cream to put on top of it. I ate some chocolate and it really didn't taste so good to me because I haven't had sugar in ages. I don't eat sugar anymore. I hardly eat meat either but it tasted good. Today I return to my journey of eating normal again and knowing I won this year it didnt' beat me.
  15. Hang in there and use your blender if you have one. There are many things you can be eating right now besides mashed potatoes. Yogurt, sugarfree pudding, refried beans, sugarfree oatmeal, blended meats, eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad. Anything soft you should be able to eat now.
  16. The enzymes in the pineapple help break down the food. Although sometimes nothing works if its stuck bad enough.
  17. Well three years ago I would never be able to sit on the floor and get up but now I sit on the floor all the time because I can lol
  18. Merry Christmas to you too and congrats you will do fine.
  19. You can't get upset every time the scale doesnt move. There are many times it won't move for longer then a week. You have to keep doing what you're doing. Your body will give in eventually. Your too newly banded to be depressed already about the scale not moving. I have had months of no weight loss but I never gave up.
  20. Unfortunately being banded this is a normal thing. All digestion is different now and your stomach will sometimes embarass you. I have said excuse me more since being banded then any other time in my life lol
  21. I agree. I have some of everything just very little and it still taste good. A spoonful goes a long way. I have learned to enjoy food now instead of inhaling it.
  22. Good luck with your surgery. Congrats for wanting to be healthy for 50.
  23. You would have to eat an extreme amount for that to happen. Like over 200 grams a day and I dont think any of us could eat that much. Even with three shakes at 60 grams you still cant go over on protein.
  24. You wil always have that question. You have to move forward with your new life and know you wont go back to the old you. Love your new self for where you are going, how far you have come and the success you will find when you are at goal.
