  1. Happy 64th Birthday tat1too!

  2. My Dr is wonderful........I saw him regularly.......and just because it works for you, doesnt mean that the band doesnt fail! Remember, it is a foreign object in your body.....and it will fail for some people.....if you READ my prior posts, you will see that i use the band as a tool, and i did all the rest.......and the statistics, if you do research, IS that 50% of people having it do fail.....some as a result of not following the strict criteria and many just because of body rejection! Al though i lost only half of my goal weight, and happy with that, i am off all meds...but the rejection of the band makes my life miserable every single day! All i am trying to say here, is that the Dr should tell you of the failures, side effects, life changes, as much as he encourages you to do it...Jan

    Problems With Esophagus

Same with me, and i even had all the fluid taken out of the band and still puking, choking, sliming constantly....am told my body is rejecting the band...and its almost 5 years....wish i had never done it!
  4. My Insurance is UHC......and i am quite sure my Dr wont do it pro bono.....and i dont even think he is doing bariatric surgery anymore...Xavier, i am not gaining weight, that isnt the problem.....its the body rejecting the band and causing all kinds of complications......i really wish that in pre counseling, they would invite some of the failures to let people know what can happen.......and yes, you can have your band filled very tightly, and regain all your weight...i have seen it happen ......you simply stretch the pouch out by over eating......i wish you all great success......just if u r thinking about it......weigh it very carefully......
  5. I am glad your Dr is being honest with you...with all the ouncesling i had, no one told me about the possible side effects and failures
  6. yes, we have tried....unfortunately, because the blood work comes back that i am getting sufficient nutrition, they wont budge!
  7. My insurance wont cover it, and i havent lost 100 pounds.....only 70......flabby tummy, arms, boobs...everything! But at my age, not concerned with any of it anymore...just want to stop being sick and tortured with the choking and vomiting! I cant even go out to a restaraunt and eat ibecause i just waste my money and usually choke on the first bite...not to mention the embarressment....I wish you lots of success.....and no side effects...remember, i am almost 5 years out, and still suffering...which didnt start until the last couple of years, strange....
  8. Thanks so much, sweetie.....you look awesome, but looks like you had another procedure......looks like we do have tats in common...lol! Sleeving wasnt being done when i had mine, but a friend of mine had it with very little success either, but i have a friend who had the lap band same day as mine and she has reached goal with no problems.....i worry about the band causing major problems as it is a foreign object that is being rejected...all i can do is pray about it....Thanks again for not being mean, Jan
  9. I follow the diet to a T, as it is habit now.......its nothing i am doing wrong......and my Dr agrees.....my body just rejects the foreign object! I follow a strict 1200 calorie a day diet with no red meat, no sugars or white flours, no carbs.....and now have to live with the constant reflux, vomiting, and sliming...which by the way, can cause esophagal cancer! and i have no fluid in my band.....not gaining, but no loss either......sorry, but it isnt for everybody.....

    So Discouraged

I had my band almost 5 years ago...i lost only half of the weight i wanted to, had my last fill 2 years ago, havent lost a pound , but havent gained....24 hour a day choking, sliming, puking forced me to have all the liquid removed after x ray showed no slippage....Guess, what? still puking, choking sliming daily, sometimes up to 24 hours....my family Dr suggested i have it removed since constant irritation of the esophagus sets you up for Esophagal cancer! But of course, the lap band docs wont tell u that! and my insurance wont pay for removal! Yes, i am staying on a very strict diet since it has became habit now....sorry, but you need to really think about this before you do it, and the pre counseling wont tell you how bad it can get...ugh!
  11. yes, i regret it! Almost 5 years out and lost only half of goal! Following diet to a T, but constant puking, choking and Bowel obstruction is just not worth it! Have had the saline totally removed and still choking and puking daily......not gaining weight.....and i cant have it reoved due to insurance wont do it! Also, the flabbt skin is disgusting and no amt of exercise helps! Ruined my intimate life...liked my body better bedore....ugh!
  12. almost 5 years out and very disappointed.....
