Sipping Vs Gulping
Thanks Ladies! I'm doing fantastic. The first and second days were ...wow but each day after has been better and better. I may even go to work next week if I can get rides, I sit at a desk, and just see what I can do but, I will wait til Sunday to decide that. Michele

Sipping Vs Gulping
I'm 5 days post op and I find it a challenge to sip. I'm not really starving but my tummy is so empty, I started full liquids today and just want to guzzle my protein shake down. I'm forcing myself to drink it out of the one oz cups but can finish that in 5 mins. I had 1oz already and not feeling sick or full. Can some people hold more liquid? I don't want to ANYTHING to hurt my precious sleeve. Michele

Coffee
Wow, coffee in the hospital? I went through Kaiser's Options class and was advised the whole way through to give it up.Especially at the beginning due to the incision in my new tummy. I'm going to treat my sleeve with as much TLC as possible to avoid acid problems and stretching it out. This surgery comes with a lot of changes and giving up a few things is part of it I just have to remember those things never really made me happy. It's all up to you.

Spicy Food Chewing Gum And Candy?
I don't know about you but candy (sugar) was a big culprit in my weight gain. No candy for me. Also, in the 12 weeks of classes I took prior to surgery I was told spicy things can hurt my new tummy and gum is out because it creates gas. If I continue to do the things I did prior to this surgery then nothing will change and I will not have the results I'm looking forward to. I personally want to change my life and make healthier choices and live life not confined by my body. Old behaviors must die for me.

Who Have You Told?!
I like the 'don't ask, don't tell'. I've told a few close friends but I have NOT told my husband's family nor will I.

Overreacting?
I'm sure she is jealous. When I had insurance that didn't cover VSG i found myself so jealous when friends would have it. Having had the surgery yesterday I can already say this far from the easy way out. AND and if we have a tool available to us why shouldn't we reach for it. God knows, I've struggled forever with my weight. I'm thankful for a second chance. I too have kept it on the d/l on FB. Eventually it will come out and we always have critics. The best way to deal with them is to be a success and to remember they are human too.

Judy, Overall I am OK. I read stories too but made up my mind I was going to be alright. I'm sore at the incision points especially the one that was used to remove the stomach. Kaiser only has you stay over night which is good and bad. Good because I had people coming in to check on me and take tests and bad because all those people aren't hovering around Pain is minimal, my belly is distended from all the trauma I guess and no acid refulx. Here's hoping that each day is better and don;t be afraid. I know in the end this is the best thing I could do for me. Best wishes for you. Michele

3 Months Post Op With Pics!
- Sleeved Yesterday 8.9.12, Home Today
I'm in such a weird place. I came home and laid on my bed where I've laid the past 4 months counting the days til surgery. The night before it felt like I was on speed I was so excited. Today I laid down and thought- now what. There's almost this sense of let down. It's weird. Anyone else experience this? I'm really sore and feeling a little crummy. Just took my pain meds and am hoping to get some sleep tonight. Michele- West La Kaiser Dr Zelada
