    Me during

  2. Thanks so much to you ALL for such wonderful words of encouragement. It means so much to me, because you are the ONLY people who really understand what it has been like to be so obese for so long and feel so hopeless and helpless. I am the ONLY one in my family that is even overweight, much less obese. It has been a long journey, but compared to my breast cancer journey this has been a "piece of cake"! I, too, don't really care if I lose another pound, but I know I will, because I am going to keep up this change in my eating habits and exercise routines. It feels so good to be healthier....and the pain I had (only two days) and adjustment in how I eat was only very temporary....WELL worth it!!
  3. I will have my 6 months check-up Monday. I have lost almost 100 lbs. since my highest in June 2011. I have lost around 70 lbs. since my surgery on Aug. 22, 2011. I haven't felt this good in years! I am trying to get more active and keep up the change in my life for good. I wish I had the "sleeve" surgery available to me 30 years ago. This was the best decision I have ever made for myself!
  4. I have lost almost 100 lbs. since my heaviest....and over 70 since my surgery 6 months ago. I feel SOOOO much better. I wish I could have been "sleeved" 30 years ago!

  6. WOW! You ARE above the norm!! I am at the 14 week mark since surgery on August 22, and I have lost 51 lbs. BUT.....I have lost a total of 75 lbs. since I started with the pre-op diet in mid June. Even though I have a lot of more weight to lose....I feel GREAT and I feel good about my progress. Good luck to us all in our continuing battle! God Bless!

    Day 3 of New Journey

You are absolutely right about how most of us thought PAST the surgery and fantasized about recovery and weight loss..........I did the same thing and was AMAZED at how badly I was hurting on the first day after surgery. I remember thinking to myself that I would NEVER try to convince someone else to have this surgery (but I WOULD highly recommend it), because I would have felt SO resentful if the decision was not totally MY OWN to have this done. But after a few days I was feeling WONDERFUL, I realized that this surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. I have to admit that it has been quite an adjustment, but I knew that going in. The first two weeks on liquids was not as hard as I thought it would be. The "mushies" week was GROSS to me, because I HATE that consistency.....and now, my doctor wants us to eat mainly Protein with a TINY amount of fruits and certain non-starchy veggies. My doctor won't allow us to eat any Beans, for example, for 6 months. I realize from reading things here, that most doctors are not this way, but my doctor is very "hands-on" and he and his nutritionist told me that it is more of a psychological reasoning on their part. They want us to learn to try to get most of our protein from meats, and not vegetables because the protein is quicker and easier for the body to absorb, and most people do not eat enough protein. They want to make sure we do not become malnourished. I must admit, that I am SICK of meat at this point and would LOVE to eat normal food. I am just 5 1/2 weeks out now, so I have quite a ways to go before I can eat certain foods. I seem to be losing about 5 lbs. a week so far. But for some reason, I have not lot that much this week yet. I am happy with my weight loss so far. People are really starting to notice, which makes me feel good and rather uncomfortable at the same time. The only slight problem that I have had, is that I have always been SUPER "regular" with the bowels....and now, I only have BM's every 4 or 5 days. So I have had to add Benefiber and it makes me gassy. Hopefully all will regulate itself soon. I am not eating much Fiber....so....it figures that I would have problems. Keep your chin up....FOLLOW your Dr.s rules, and in a few weeks you will feel GREAT! I promise! Keep in touch! And congrats! Cay
  8. So happy to see you are doing well. I am doing well also, and I have another week of the pureed meat....blech! Then I go on to soft foods. I cannot wait! Keep me updated!

  9. I had my surgery 4 weeks ago today and am down a total of 48lbs, 20 was preop, 28 since then. Feeling great and moving onto soft foods today. Enjoying it alot and feeling GREAT!

  10. How are you doing? have you had your surgery? Did everything go well. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. I have had a wonderful recovery. Lost 12 lbs. so far!

  11. I saw my nutritionist today (2 weeks since surgery) and she said I have one week on pureed meat and a little pureed fruit and vegetables (yuk). I cannot wait until this week is up, because at least I can chew my own food after this week. And I don't normally like a lot of meat, but I better learn to eat it, because that will be my main food item from now on! :(

  12. Got out today and went in to my office for a couple of hours, then went with my daughter to WalMart. I am exhausted...but I found some sugar free pudding and some no sugar added cinnamon applesauce....so I am a happy camper! LOL!

  13. I have had a remarkably wonderful recovery. No nausea, no terrible gas, and I feel wonderful. I feel ready to move on to other foods besides liquids, but the doctor says no! LOL! I need to heal inside, but I feel wonderful.....Once the drain was removed Monday, I felt waaaay better. Keep me updated.

  14. Cay thanks for your message. Thankfully I am doing much better. I never had the problem before surgery. Doctor recommended i take prilosec and then have a teaspoonful of malaax a couple hours later. That seems to be helping. I still have the discomfort but it is getting better. How are you feeling? I see we got sleeved on the same day... Wooo Hoooo for us ;) Please keep me posted :)

  15. Are you doing any better with the acid reflux? Did you have a lot of that before surgery? Hope you are doing better!
