6 Months Post-Op Progress
Thanks so much to you ALL for such wonderful words of encouragement. It means so much to me, because you are the ONLY people who really understand what it has been like to be so obese for so long and feel so hopeless and helpless. I am the ONLY one in my family that is even overweight, much less obese. It has been a long journey, but compared to my breast cancer journey this has been a "piece of cake"! I, too, don't really care if I lose another pound, but I know I will, because I am going to keep up this change in my eating habits and exercise routines. It feels so good to be healthier....and the pain I had (only two days) and adjustment in how I eat was only very temporary....WELL worth it!!

6 Months Post-Op Progress
I will have my 6 months check-up Monday. I have lost almost 100 lbs. since my highest in June 2011. I have lost around 70 lbs. since my surgery on Aug. 22, 2011. I haven't felt this good in years! I am trying to get more active and keep up the change in my life for good. I wish I had the "sleeve" surgery available to me 30 years ago. This was the best decision I have ever made for myself!

WOW! You ARE above the norm!! I am at the 14 week mark since surgery on August 22, and I have lost 51 lbs. BUT.....I have lost a total of 75 lbs. since I started with the pre-op diet in mid June. Even though I have a lot of more weight to lose....I feel GREAT and I feel good about my progress. Good luck to us all in our continuing battle! God Bless!

Day 3 of New Journey
You are absolutely right about how most of us thought PAST the surgery and fantasized about recovery and weight loss..........I did the same thing and was AMAZED at how badly I was hurting on the first day after surgery. I remember thinking to myself that I would NEVER try to convince someone else to have this surgery (but I WOULD highly recommend it), because I would have felt SO resentful if the decision was not totally MY OWN to have this done. But after a few days I was feeling WONDERFUL, I realized that this surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. I have to admit that it has been quite an adjustment, but I knew that going in. The first two weeks on liquids was not as hard as I thought it would be. The "mushies" week was GROSS to me, because I HATE that consistency.....and now, my doctor wants us to eat mainly Protein with a TINY amount of fruits and certain non-starchy veggies. My doctor won't allow us to eat any Beans, for example, for 6 months. I realize from reading things here, that most doctors are not this way, but my doctor is very "hands-on" and he and his nutritionist told me that it is more of a psychological reasoning on their part. They want us to learn to try to get most of our protein from meats, and not vegetables because the protein is quicker and easier for the body to absorb, and most people do not eat enough protein. They want to make sure we do not become malnourished. I must admit, that I am SICK of meat at this point and would LOVE to eat normal food. I am just 5 1/2 weeks out now, so I have quite a ways to go before I can eat certain foods. I seem to be losing about 5 lbs. a week so far. But for some reason, I have not lot that much this week yet. I am happy with my weight loss so far. People are really starting to notice, which makes me feel good and rather uncomfortable at the same time. The only slight problem that I have had, is that I have always been SUPER "regular" with the bowels....and now, I only have BM's every 4 or 5 days. So I have had to add Benefiber and it makes me gassy. Hopefully all will regulate itself soon. I am not eating much Fiber....so....it figures that I would have problems. Keep your chin up....FOLLOW your Dr.s rules, and in a few weeks you will feel GREAT! I promise! Keep in touch! And congrats! Cay

Had my sleeve surgery Monday
I didnt have that sensation, but my doctor has me on a daily antacid pill (prescription). Are you on one for prevention? It is hard the first few days to take in all the fluids necessary. But today, I can drink bigger sips of water and Protein shake, so I am feeling a little more normal. It gets better and better doesn't it? I am read to eat some food....not just liquids.....even if it TINY amounts, but I have a week left of mild fluids.......My biggest problem is BMs. I finally had a little movement with a Fleet's enema (ugh).....but still feel miserable down there!

How are you? I am just starting to feel human again!- Had my sleeve surgery Monday
Just had my sleeve surgery done Monday. Already off of my diabetes meds. I still feel sore and kind of crappy. I guess I am worried about complications. I don't want any and I certainly don't want infection, so I am being very cautious. Drank my first protein shake today. It went down fine. I only experienced nausea twice, and it was the second day after surgery while trying to gulp down pain meds and too much water (my mistake). So far, so good! Please pray for me that I will recover with no complications...My prayers are with all of you, hoping you and I have successful stories to tell in a few months!- Missing eating
OMG! You are sooo funny! I never even thought about doing that! Seems GENIUS to me! LOL!- just got sleeved 3 hours ago!
So glad you are home and recovering. I have one question.....what do you mean you were having a little trouble peeing? Was it irritation from the catheter, you think? Did the Dr. say that was normal?- just got sleeved 3 hours ago!
So happy to hear you are up and about! I am having my surgery on Monday morning. I wish you all the best and success! Keep in touch! Cay- Last post in the "Pre Surgical" blog :)
My surgery is on Mon. Aug. 22 and I feel the EXACT same way as you feel. I am scared, happy, excited, and yet I want to cry.....I think maybe in my case, it is because NO ONE in my family seems to really understand what I have been and AM going through...I feel so alone sometimes.....and that makes me sad! )I guess that is why I come to this site so often) Good luck to you....please keep in touch! Thanks for responding!- DID TIME JUST START MOVING 100 TIMES SLOWER?!?!?!
I started on my pre-op diet on Monday. My doctor and nutritionist don't make us go on liquids only, but we can only have Protein and certain carb-less veggies and a little fruit in the first week only. I drink a Protein shake for Breakfast...and so far it isn't too bad....I'll tell you how I feel in another week or so....HA HA HA....getting closer....August 22 here we come!- Does everyne lose their hair???

Thanks so much for your comments. You seem to have been around the same size as me and I just WISH and HOPE to achieve the weight loss you have. My surgery is scheduled for Aug. 22 and I am getting increasingly anxious for many reasons. I cannot even really IMAGINE being under 200 lbs. much less reaching my goal of 170-180 lbs. But when I see someone like you and your great success.....I have some hope to cling to. Thanks again...I will follow your progress! God bless! Cay- Does everyne lose their hair???
I am feeling MUCH better every time I read someone who DIDN'T lose hair.....There is something to be said for having "rose-colored glasses"!!! LOL! Thanks!- Does everyne lose their hair???
