Would love to hear more about this subject!
You can be vague or general, or a combination of both. You can answer each individual question or put in paragraph form – I'm fine either way - I don't want to take too much of your time. Thank you again! What type of surgery did you have? What was the reason you had the surgery? What was your chief complaint that resulted in the surgery? How long were you suffering from the chief complaint? Was the surgery elective or medically necessary? What treatments or diagnostic tests were done prior to surgery? Were there any preoperative instructions? Were there any preoperative issues or complaints? What was the outcome of the surgery? Was there a post operative visit? If so, how long post op? Were there any post operative complications? Was there any additional follow-up that has or will take place? Jim Boston 43 years old Males Married 3 children Grown Computer Aided Draftsman 1. Alcohol? Carbonated bevs?
There is never a 100% no to any food but carbonated beverages seems to be very hard to tolerate because of the bloated feeling after drinking them... this goes for beer also, you should be able to have alcohol if you want i dont see why not?

21 days post-op
Very normal, you are only drinking fluids so they drain through you sleeve fairly fast. I suggest you get some sugar free popcicles they have been my crutch.. If you really hate the thick shakes try Isopure from GNC mixed with no sugar added fruit juice and a shot of MIO strawberry/watermelon drink enhancer... This is the only way I could get it down you might like it as is, i did not.. it has 40grams of protien per bottle... plus it will help you get in some of your fluids... try the green one not sure if it apple or watermelon flavor...but its the best one...IMHO...... Good luck and welcome to the group...

newbie, slipped band, looking around
I myself had a very good result, My sleeve was by far the easiest recovery I have ever had from a surgery and I was back at my desk 5 days after surgery... No complications and the weight is flying off I amd just about to go back for my six week appointment and i am down about 30lbs from preop weight... I would say you will be able to tell how bad its going to be on the morning after surgery. I was up and dressed 5 minutes after they did my dye test.. In the car on my way home by 10:30am... I slept the rest of that day and took it easy the next day, then sat through a 3 hour transformer movie the next day, doctor appointment on Monday and back to work the next Tuesday.. good luck!

Arkansas Sleevers
Hi my Names Jim Boston I'm from Fort Smith and I was sleeved June 29, 2011 by Dr, Travis Goodnight @ Summit Medical Center In Van Buren, Arkansas. He was great! it was by far the Easiest surgery I have ever had. I was back at work in 5 days.... I have had very little problem mostly the psycological issues, learing curve. My brain was telling me to go look in the fridge, and to eat faster. I just had to learn to turn that stuff off... and it has gone pretty well so far... I am currently about 357.5lbs preop weight was 387lbs down from a high weight of 474lbs in December of 2009

Question for MEN ONLY!
i'm not bragging but trying to handle the equiptment and the underwear and the pants is just to much, I unzip reach in and whip it out... I have never had a problem, i have plenty of distance from the stream to the pants. I have never urinated on myself. no dripping issue if it's out far enough... Sorry!

Introduction - from Arkansan...
Hello, My name is Jim Boston, I am 43 years old, married 26 years to Marsha my wonderful wife. We have (3) children, Daughter - Amber 27, Son Andrew 23, Son Jimmy 22. May of 2009 My sons changed my life forever, They both enlisted in The United States Marine Corp. and went to boot camp in San Diego on Sept. 21, 2009. I being a greatly Patriotic Individual anyways felt amazingly proud and severly lost without them as we were very close. While they were in boot camp I made a pact that if they were strong enough to volunteer to suport and defend the whole country, I could atleast be disceplined enough to take care of myself and be around for them as long as possible. So, i started going to Dr visits and found out I had Diabetes, High blood pressure, High colesterol, and low testostrone, all the while weighing in at 474lbs and i was only 40 years old. I was disgusted with myself but soon things started to change. I got the diabetes under control and started taking all my meds and my energy level seemed to start coming back. My wifes and my sex life kicked into high gear and our relationship improved. I started to move in the right direction, on a routine Dr. appointment i asked my doctor if she could research for me a bariatric surgeon. I was thinking of self paying for surgery as i knew my company insurance did not pay... She said she would and got me the Number of Dr. Travis Goodnight www.goodnightsugical.com. I called the next day and went to a seminar the next week. I filled out all paper work knowing that my insurance did not cover the surgery, I had all the money ready to self pay to my surprise! My company changed our insurance at the first of this year and now pay for 80% or the lesser of your out of pocket. Bingo bango i had surgery on june 31, 2011 I have now lost 20 lbs since surgery... Amazing turn of events in 2 short years....

Not in the mood -warning TMI
Sorry for sticking my nose in here to what may be none of a males business, but maybe all of the exercising is geting in the way of normal estrogen production. My wife is a fit person and has always been so even when I weight 470lbs she was 110lbs and 5'-4" tall. She had an episode while training to run several 5k's where she lost all libido....and was she ever frustrated!!!!! it just would not work.!!!!..She eventually went to her Gyno doctor who helped her pin point that all of the increased training she was doing had her production of testosterone and estrogen all messed up and this made her feel less like having sex. I am not advocating for you to stop exercising just saying you might want to bring it down a notch to see if anything changes.. SHe backed off for 2 weeks and bingo bango right back in the groove... Hope this helps...

Um... endowment?
I previously suffered with Diabetes as well as High Blood pressure which somtimes results in low Testosterone levels in Men over 40... My doctor started me on Testosterone injections about 8 months before my VSG surgery and wow did stuff in our sex life change. Now, I had some shrinkage of the boys but Big brother responded well...!. then also with the increase in energy level and geting my Diabetes under control I subsequently lost about 75 lbs pre op..I was 470lbs December of '09 and pre op I was 387lbs June 29th '11 now i'm 367lb and the wife and I are like excited teenagers again. After 25 years of marriage we are going strong like when we were in our 20's WOW....! and now while laying on my back I can see big brother again when in an excited state.... :-) Stuff does change!!!!!
