how much should I be eating post op sleeve gastrectomy

You know, I'm only 9 months out, but I don't plan on changing what I've been eatig so far. I've reached my goal and have maintained for about 2ish months now. I wouldn't dare eat more..Though I may cut back a wee bit due to a weigh in here at works (which effects what I pay for my health insurance next year!) Have you spoken with your surgeon or nutritionist to see where they feel you should be?

loss of sex drive during liquid diet

I won't even comment on the 4-5 times a day! LOL I was happy with once a week! And I considered that a healthy sex life! But to answer your question, during the liquid diet, I was not happy about the limitations. So I was somewhat angry at the world and had zero sex drive. And to be honest, I haven't gotten it back. It's been since December. And with you still having sex more than 1x a week, I think youre doing ok :| just saying..
  3. OH gamegirl, we are so in the same boat. I look back and wonder "why the hell was i so big". Yes i admit the last few years I totally deserved it. I ate fried foods and alot of processed. Prior to, not so much. People who hung out with would often ask me "umm not to be rude, but how are you overweight, you eat little portions and nothing fatty". I'm sure now it makes sense, I may have FELT I was choosing wisely..but damn you hidden fat/calories!! Thank God, that's in the past!!

    No rant, just rave!

Don't you just LOVE Rain? And football and a grill? Even better! Great post topic!! Oh this weekend should be lovely! My g/f and I are heading to a place called Ojo Calliente to soak in the mineral waters (mmmm!! relaxing!). Though we are thinking we should just drive to Pagosa Springs. Same price, more pools. Either way, we're getting the heck out of dodge. We took Monday off so our weekend is extended a little more. My bones are calling out for the hot springs!!

    Bladder Question from Doc?

That makes sense. I just wonder why they didn't ask that when I had the band. To me, I was more prone to dehydration with the band due to constant vomitting. But yeah...That is very true!!
  6. Hmm...I don't montior my intake (bad bad butterfly). I think I'm done with being obsessed with every bite I consume. I do make sure I make what I perceive as 'health conscience' choices (no cheese on my salad, light dressing etc). I dont seem to have a fear that my 5 bites are dangerous. I am cautious to not make all my bites each day be sugary or fatty... To me, there really isn't 'good' food, everything has some sort of hidden something. Unless you just eat steamed veggies and grilled meats all day, everything has something we shouldn't have. Heck fruit has more sugars than we think. I'm sure I'm looking at this in a bad light...Perhaps I need to be more disciplined. And please understand, this is my perspective on this..don't stone me...I'm just being honest about how I feel when I eat each day. And Gamegirl, thank you for bringing some light to things we THINK are healthy but may be worse than what we thought! I LOVE me some lettuce wraps..darn you hidden calories/fat!! (shakes fist in air).

    Anybody else feel like this?

Each day is a different emotion for me.. Most days I look in the mirror and say "OMG I"M HERE!! THE REAL ME IS HERE!!". And some days I'm "wtf did i do...this is forever". Then I watch walking dead and think "hmm I can survive a zombie attack, I don't need to eat as much as others".. The things I find to get myself through it! We've spent most of our lives overweight..we adjusted to it, accepted it...we didn't think there was any other way. So we got used to not fitting on the airplane, riding rides at 6 flags, being the biggest person in the room.... And NOW, we have to adjust to being some hot sexy people, being just a person in the crowd, fitting on the airplanes WITH extra room, and loving the NEW us. It's an adjustment, but one I do not regret. Take it one day at a time sweetie. Live fully for today..and be happy with your decision! Your health with thank you!

    Another day...

So I found it amusing my blog yesterday was titled "Reflections". I walked out of my building to meet a coworker of mine outside. As I was walking back in the building, I looked up and saw my reflection in the glass doors.. I literally giggled out loud like a giddy school girl. The reflection was...amazing. I was just your normal, average woman walking towards the door. My legs looks so thin...My entire body looked so thin. I know i've lost 100 lbs. I know I'm a new person..but there are days when I just don't see it. I just see me. But yesterday, Oh lord! I SAW IT!! HOLY SKINNY MINNIES BATMAN!! THAT'S ME IN THAT REFLECTION!! not a friend, not some stranger, ME. I practically started skipping back to my desk. Oh what an amazing NSV moment. Just seeing ME. Who I was meant to be.. WHO I AM!!! Now if I could just find another job or at least get a damn call back from 1 of the ones i've applied for... grr...but that's ok. God is watching...God has a plan...

  10. How about some egg drop Soup? Or perhaps some watered down cream of wheat? you can also add Protein powder to the cream of wheat to get in your protein without having to drink a shake.. And I agree, ask about pudding..or even baby food (nice variety, cheap and small portions!)

    4 month weight loss

You know, I never kept tabs of how much i lost month by month. I know I was at 171 day of my sleeve (down from 239 with the band). I do know by June I hit my goal of 139. However, the inches came flying off! And keep in mind, we all lose weight so differently. I see some folks on here are down 60 lbs after a few months (WOW!!). Envious of that..took me a year on the band to lose 68 lbs. ugh! I set baby goals for myself..10 lbs at a time... And as for how youll look, you'll look FABULOUS!!! no worries there honey.

    Frustrated and depressed

First question that comes to mind, will the doctor NOT do the surgery if you do not lose a certain amount of weight? Also, what does your insurance require? I think you may need to talk with the doc and the NUT together. Explain to them you are confused at the requirements. I always thought the insurance set the requirements...but each clinic is different. Please don't be depressed, this will only hinder your progress.Keep moving forward and talk to the doc and the nut. Keep your chin up honey, you'll get through this and it will all be behind you soon enough!

Looking for tips for after surgery.

Jerseygirl pretty much covered it! Another few things.. You may not be comfy in your bed, my couch was my best friend the first 2 weeks (with lots of pillows!). Also, remember, your FOCUS IS HEALING! Don't drive yourself nuts over the scale or what your'e losing. You will be swollen and a little gassy. I also kept a small table next to me at all times with my 'supplies' for the day. I didn't put too much there so i had to get up to walk around for my 'meals'. Good luck darling!!

    Am I missing a stage?

I was bad during post op..so I better not try to offer advice!LOL but you should ask the doctor when you go where he sees you at after the visit. Hmm thinking of all this soft foods is making me want mashed potatoes!!

    Judgemental people in the field

Have you called to see if there is anyone else you can contact? I would even tell the doctor or clinic manager how you are being treated. Explain to him you have enough going on without being spoken down to. Keep your chin up..!!

    sooooo sick of soup.

I did a watery version of cream of wheat as a change. Soup is so easy to get sick of. I knew if I got sick of it, I wouldn't eat. SO i did cream of wheat or Malt-o-meal with extra water. Nice change and super yummy! I just made sure to use a teeny bit of splenda for that little sweetness needed. Egg drop broth was my favorite too! Hang in there sweetie, it'll pass quicker than you think!

    nuts

Nuts are one of my favorite Snacks. I do the lightly cocoa covered almonds from Sam's club. It satifies so many cravings in a few delicious bites. I have issues following what the doctors say, only because EACH One tells you something different. At first my latest doc (my clinic has been through 3) told me to pretty much go vegan allowing meat only once a week. I started doing that..during my follow up last month, he told me not to.. GRR So me, I am mainly focus on my portion sizing. My scale has continually gone down and I've maintained where I'm at. My clothes are still getting loose. So my theory, do what works for YOU. All of our bodies are different and adjust to the sleeve differently. Just careful with the portions darling...
  20. Good luck to you! And asauv is right, the worst part is the hours before surgery. The rest is smoother sailing. You were nice to your band, you said such lovely words to yours. Me, I didn't like mine so much,I only had it 15 months..but that was a long enough relationship. I wish you well tomorrow and look forward to seeing how you're recovering and how you feel with your NEW relationship

    Pain across chest

I would say this is probably due to the Hernia repair. I had a pain in my chest for a few months. It'll subside. However, it if does become bothersome, do call your doctor hun! Oh also, be sure to sip slowly (not gulp) and to take itty bitty bites once you do begin to eat. it'll help.
