  1. Doug, I'm sorry to hear about your Ex co-worker, when things like that happen it makes you realize that your life could be gone in a heartbeat. Not only a heart attack, but a car wreck, etc. Just live your life as each day was your last. You are doing a good thing by deciding on the sleeve. Man, I could not imagine dieing at work, that would really suck. Good luck on your journey. Let us know when you get your surgery date.
  2. April, I wish I could of had the surgery when I had a lower BMI, but back in those days they did not perform WLS, none that I knew about anyway. Good luck on your journey, and welcome to a wonderful support system.
  3. Hailey, welcome. My surgery is set for December 2, maybe your surgery date will be close to mine. Good luck, and best wishes.
  4. lol, You are to funny. I may have small boobies, but my hang also. lol I know to much info, but hey it is the truth. I carry most of my weight in my stomach area, I think running track many years back help with my legs, and I have no idea about the rest. I could just see your boyfriends expressions when they found the knickers. :lol0:, what a shock. I remember wearing granny panties in 7th grade changing clothes in PE (gym), and all the girls making fun of me. That was one of those memories, you just never forget. :thumbup1:
  5. Beth Good for you, for getting back up on that horse. I know it can be hard but you CAN DO IT. I joined weight watchers, it is kind of pricey, but has been working for me I have lost 8 lbs the in the last 4 weeks. I'm averaging about 2 lbs a week. Good luck, and if you get down again you can always send me a message, and I will be able to cheer you up.
  6. I'm a single parent, and fill that was not fair of her to throw it in your face that you were spending the money on you and not your son, because actually you are doing this for your son. I wish I would of had the surgery when my daughter was younger, she is 15 now, and think of all the activities I missed with her when she was younger, don't get me wrong I have done alot with my daughter, but feel if I was thinner, and healthier when she was younger, I could of done so much more. Don't let your mom get to you, and just think if she does go through the surgery maybe you can do it together, and be each others support system. Good luck, and remember you have support here if you need. I also aplaud you for doing this for yourself and for your son.
  7. JaneX - That is wonderful. I am so happy for you. A big hug, and congrats. You have been supportive of me, and helping me on my posts, and I am just so happy for you. Time to celebrate. yippee
  8. Jane, You may have to explain to some of us fashionable stupid, what a Body Con is, or direct us to a link where we can see. I lost my fashion sense when I became over weight. lol As for my perfect outfit. I really don't have a dream outfit, but here is what I have in mind. I would love to buy a shirt that I don't have to pin to my bra so it don't fall down, because I think they believe all plus size women have big chest (I do not), I would love to buy a pair of jeans that the legs are not four sizes bigger then my legs, as I again do not have big legs, and last but not least I can not wait until I don't have to wear granny panies. lol
  9. wow, that don't even give you enough time to get nervous about it. lol I wish something like that would happen to me. I have 89 days to sit here and think about things, and get nervous, excited, but nervous. Good luck, and keep us posted you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Ps I think you made the right choice instead of the band.
  10. Joanie, Thanks that is comforting. To be honest I do not know exactly if I'm getting the plication or not they just tole me Gastric Sleeve. My surgery is on a Thursday and they are keeping me in the hospital until Monday, because I live so far away. I hope they actually let me leave the hospital because if they keep me inside the whole time, I think I will go crazy. Well at least there is a mental hospital right there in the same building. lol
  11. Thanks, I did not have a choice I'm going through the Hunington, VA hospital, and he is the surgeon that performs the surgery for them. I live 7 hours away . Have you heard anything about Dr. Nease. I will not even get to meet him until the morning of my surgery. Good luck with your journey.
  12. Take it from me I totally understand what you are going though. I have been working on getting my surgery for almost a year now. I have had a lots of ups and downs. Just stay positive, and do not give up. I agree with the others about being a blessing in disguise. I went through the whole process had my date set with my surgeon for August 24, and on July 26th found out I had to go to a different surgeon, but have a new date with the new surgeon of December 2. Keep the faith.
  13. I lucked out and a lady in my office had the gastric bypass a couple of years ago. All my co-workers have been supportive, and my two bosses have been wonderful. I am very lucky to be working with a wonderful (most of the time, lol ) group of people. I think this choice will be different for each person. I mean really depends some people can work in a not so friendly atmospere. Like if I was still working for my last attorney, I would not of said anything to him, because he was a horses butt, and that is putting it nicely. Which every you decide just know we support you either way.
  14. Deb, WOO HOO !! Great job!!! I know you are so excited, I'm excited for you. Keep up the good work. Keep us posted.
  15. You are in my prayers. Good luck. Let us know how you are going as soon as you can.
  16. That is great news!!! Congrats. I'm so happy for you.
  17. You are in my thoughts, and prayers.
  18. Thank you, I'm doing great today, yesterday has gone and passed, and today is a new day, it is bright and sunny. Let me know when you get your appointment with the Surgeon. I'm excited for you, I remember how I felt when I first started the journey. Just read alot of the things on this forum, and you will learn alot. That is one reason I'm glad my surgery was postponed, because I found this forum, and have time to educate myself about the surgery.

  20. Yes, I am excited about my December date, but my original date was suppose to be today. I have thought about it all day, and I'm trying not to get to depressed. The good news is I went to Weight Watchers and lost another 2 lbs so that is 8 lbs the last 4 weeks. Not to bad, but I want my sleeve. That is great news about your referal. Keep me posted.
  21. Good luck, on the journey. It could be a up and down struggle, but just stick with it, and you will make it. Trust me I know I have been working on it for almost a year now, of course I'm going through the VA and had a little more hoops to go through then most people, but I know in the long run all those hoops will be worth it. Welcome, and please keep us posted on your journey.
  22. Hey my surgery is not until December, and I have the same fears. I keep wondering is the pain worse then child birth? Will I be able to tolerate it or will I be a big baby. I'm also having to drive 7 hours to have my surgery, and the question about what do I do if I get home, and have a leak, do I go to the ER here at my hospital, or drive to the VA, what if I don't know if I have a leak??? Trust me I am right there with you with all the thoughts running through my mind, and I have a few months before the surgery. lol I will probably be a nervous wreck the closer I get. lol but I know this is the best thing for me.
  23. Wow, that was really fast. Somebody (Lord) must really want to you have this surgery, and fast because most of the time it takes a big longer then that. I am so happy for you. I'm sure your parents will understand, and support you. If they don't you just remember you are doing this for you, not them. Keep us posted.
  24. Congrats on your date, good luck, and let us know how it goes.
  25. I never heard of that, but I sure hope that is the one she was talking about. Thanks, I learn somthing new everyday.
