  1. So..... This is it! After a two week pre-op diet, I have lost a total of 8.6 pounds, starting from 238.0 to 229.4. It is close enough to my Labor Day goal that I am going to call this a mini-success! It was a hard road. The pre-op diet was no joke, and if I didn't know that at least 20 other people were doing almost the exact same thing as me right now, I might have quit. But I stuck to my two to three Protein shakes a day with a lean meal for dinner for week 1, and almost completely full liquids most of this last week. I am so ready for the next part of my journey to begin, and I am so glad to have everyone here to ask questions and share what's going on. I will keep everyone updated on what happens with my pre-op testing tomorrow morning, and hopefully, I can get on here to let you guys and gals know I made it through surgery safe and sound tomorrow afternoon. I can't believe September 1st is almost here, but at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow morning I am heading from Orlando to Jacksonville for my pre-op testing and then at 11:30 a.m. I am going under! I can't believe I am going to the other side. I can't thank you guys enough for being a part of this with me.
  2. Haha, you know I will! Wouldn't know who to talk to about it if I didn't. Love you guys!
  3. It does get easier, but it is still no joke. Good luck ladies!
  4. Welcome to the club! Only two days until the start of September. Congrats on getting your date!
  5. Lol, I want to make my Labor Day goal before I am sleeved. I am getting so excited. I can't believe there is only 38 hours until surgery.
  6. Congrats on getting a date! We are really changing our relationship with food though. I am a little sad too, but it is about being healthier and happier.
  7. I totally have to stay away from the recipe forum for awhile. Doing only liquids and reading this totally made me drool. I can't wait until I am able to eat something like this.
  8. You look wonderful. Work it!
  9. I hate all things berry, but the orange ENS ones were delish. It is like the power-c vitaminwater.
  10. My boyfriend would love these! I love finding sleeve friendly recipes that are good for everyone. Thanks so much!
  11. That's so amazing and such a great milestone to achieve. Congrats!
  12. Hey Everyone! I just wanted to check in an see how everyone is doing so far! I am on day 8 of me pre-op diet and so far I have lost another 6 pounds. If I can get to 227 which is 3 lbs away in six days, I will be one of the happiest people on the planet! I want to hit that Labor Day goal! I am getting so psyched about this surgery. It has definitely been energy draining and at times extremely difficult, but we are almost in September!
  13. I would have definitely appreciated hearing that. Sometimes, in "real life" you don't really see as many people saying they have had WLS.
  14. On a good day, I think insurances requires the 6 months because the want to see the patient's dedication to making the required appointments and making sure the surgery will be successful. Furthermore, I think the six months may be helpful in making sure the patient is showing initiative to lose weight or at least maintain. These are just my thoughts on the matter. On a bad day, I think they just want to see us fail so that they do not have to cover the procedure. P.S. Though the six months may be time consuming and seemingly pointless, it is a good time to reflect on why you want the surgery, gain new habits that will help you in life after surgery, and prepare your family (and kitchen) for how things will change afterward.
  15. Haha, I can't wait to do that. Keep it up!
  16. Welcome! It is great to have you be a part of this forum and part of the September sleeve family!
  17. Look up starygrl. She loves to dance and has been working her sleeve for a couple of months.
  18. Aw, I am sorry, lady. That sounds quite hard to deal with. Hopefully, this won't last long!
  19. Okay, so I have been drinking about four to five protein shakes a day, and I hated carrying around all those silly little powders in baggies. However, as I was walking through Walmart this last Monday, I discovered Baby Formula Dispensers! They have three compartments that stay separated, so you can hold up to three different protein powders! I can't tell you how much I love this thing. I don't know how I would live with out it. I bought the Munchkin Formula Powder Dispenser at Walmart for 2.50. It was such a bargain for how easy it has made my life.
  20. You won't believe what I have found! I now used a baby formula dispenser for my protein shake powders. You can have three different shakes in the 3 different compartments and still carry them around lightweight and hassle free. I bought two Munchkin brand dispensers for 2.50 at Walmart.
  21. I really do understand where you are coming from, and you are so right. Your health needs to come first. Medical school is a very tough environment, and it makes even the strongest individuals break down. You need to have every advantage you can get before and during your venture. I wish you the best in your decision!
  22. I can't offer any help, but I went through that when I first started low carb dieting. It just takes a little time to get through. You should be feeling better in the next few days though.
  23. Well, I started classes this last Monday and I am taking Physics and Calculus. I will be having surgery September 1st. I don't work at the moment, so that is why I think I can have surgery during the semester. If you are just starting Chem and Bio, and you haven't taken any other sequences I say take a part-time semester and hold off on those too. They are pretty rigorous especially with the labs, but if you have taken the first sequences (as Chem major) I really do not recommend breaking the sequences.
