Band Slippage
What are the symptoms of a slipped band? I thought mine might have slipped because I couldn't eat anything more than a sip of liquid without feeling stuck for the last 3 days. Today seems to be a little better thou..... I have slowly been gaining lately and I'm really frightened. I couldn't do it at all without the band although unfortunately I can cheat the band which has been my problem lately. I could never do it without anything so maybe there is another thing I could switch to. Any suggestions?

Any Banders with MS (multiple sclerosis)?
Hi I have MS and was diagnosed in Oct.1989. I had the band in Sept 2011. It had only positive effects like was mentioned before. Good luck and get the best Neurologist you can that makes all the difference.

Just call me Alice because I'm in Onederland today!
Congratulations !! I can just imagine how happy and proud you must feel. I on the other hand came on tonight because of failure. This is the first in a long time that I have been on. I have gained back 15 of my 45 lost and see no stopping and am getting very depressed which makes me eat more. I can't get a fill because I can sometimes still get stuck but other times I can eat as if I never had the band and won't get stuck or full. I think my pouch is stretched to the limit and I think even if I did get a fill it wouldn't matter. Sorry didn't mean to get into this on your Onderland day. Congratulations again and again !!

Awesome "munchie" Snack
Thanks I've seen them but never picked them up. I'm looking to make up little bags of new things for my car. I have been keeping small bags of raw sunflower seeds and pistachios in my car because they are both good for you IN MODERATION. i am totally addicted to them and need them out now...I will substitute with these and hope it works.

Fill Or Not To Fill ?!
Thanks to everyone. It is true I do think that sometimes my bites are too big even thou I chew a lot. I never really feel full or satisfied. My Doc said I should never eat until I'm full just comfortable. I do know that I need to start working out more. I have Multiple Sclerosis and there isn't a whole lot I can do for any length of time but short spurts are fine. Niterun I'm with you going to reread all my material. I need to start over.

Fill Or Not To Fill ?!
Please help me I don't get it ! I was banded last Sept almost a year now and was doing great until about 4 months ago. I have only had one fill in the very beginning. I am never full and am not sure on a fill. I still get stuck very quick unless things are chewed until practically a liquid. Another fill will make it that much harder to get food down. Right? I don't know what to do. I need to feel full before I gain my weight back. It takes me well over the 30 min recommendation to eat otherwise I am stuck, and the pain and horribly uncomfortable feeling scares me to death yet still happens 2 or 3 times a week. I need a fill but will it do anything besides make it harder yet to swallow? Please any suggestions and/or comments would really be appreciated.

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
Alex, Hi! I haven't been on in awhile and definitely need to get back on. I have noticed that my appetite is getting back up there and I actually gained 3 pounds and I am scared to death. My surgery was in Sept and I have only had 1 fill . That seemed to be fine till now. My problem is that now I still get stuck once or twice a week and if it wasn't for that I think I could keep on eating. I'm really scared/confused because I want another fill to hopefully get me full but scared that I will get stuck more often. When I get stuck it is the worse most uncomfortable feeling and I start sweating and feel terrible. But would still never regret having the surgery it was the best thing I could have done for myself and family !!! It's strange but I'm already feeling better about everything just getting back on here and talking about it. I think I have been feeling to content and not really watching what I eat as much as I was in the beginning. I had forgotten and was using a straw for about a month or more do you think that is why I can eat more because I stretched my pouch? Would a fill help that?

Sept 2011 bandsters
I know what you all mean. I was banded on Sept 14 and I have only lost around 37 pounds give or take a few depending on the day. I feel as thou I can eat an awful lot now compared to at first. I have only had 1 fill and was afraid to have another because I still get stuck quite a bit. Not sure what to do. I want to find that so called sweet spot that I hear so much about. As of right now I really have to watch myself and stop and monitor what I am eating like before the surgery. Anybody still getting stuck....

Just Had My First "stuck" Experience....i Think
I know exactly what you mean. I was banded in Sept and still get stuck at least 1 or 2 times a week. I eat slowly and bite little pieces but still get that freakish stuck feeling that I hate. It doesn't even matter what it is it will just happen. I have poop bags (sorry) from my dog all over the house, in my car and my pocketbook because I never know what will do it or when. Until I bring it all up I am miserable! Those bags are my new best friend rolled up, so small, discreet and easy to carry and NEVER leak ! I have only had one fill and not sure if I want another but depending on the day I feel as thou I can eat a lot although I have never gained but losing slow.

LapBand Talk.com gets a "New " Face Lift..
Wow it's different and I think I like it. When I first went on I thought I was on the wrong site so I went off and back on again then realized is was the site. I was gone about a week and things have changed and I was lost. I hope everyone is doing well. I am just getting over being stuck most of the day on a piece of chicken. It's hard to believe that with the pain that comes from that isn't enough to make me remember to chew chew chew! I haven't been stuck in over a week but when it happens OMG I get so mad at myself. I wish there was a quick fix for when it happens but I guess then that wouldn't be reinforcing the fact that we need to eat slow and chew till the food is pureed.

Fill under floro...so cool.
Been gone for awhile anyone living back East knows how crazy it has been with the snowstorm. Anyway my one daughter her husband and 4 kids moved in for a week till there electric came back on. Was nice and was still able to watch my food. Had this been presurgery everyday would have been a party and I would have gained a good 5 lbs at least in the time they were here. Had my first fill today. It was so easy and interesting. I didn't feel anything and loved watching how it works. I only got 1cc and of course I'm on liquids so not sure how it will work as far as the tightness. Glad to be back hope all is well and doing great !

Sept 2011 bandsters
Your losing about the same rate as me. I was banded on the 14th of Sept . I had no pre-op and haven't lost much since my total liquid but you're still ahead of me and it's supposed to be OK. I think my problem is not enough calories or water so I am really amping that up this week and see if it kickstarts anything. Good luck. and make sure your drinking enough!

Sept 2011 bandsters
I know what you mean. I love the fact that I stop at my first feeling of satisfaction. I would have kept on going until finished before. I am so afraid of getting stuck again that I am very aware of how I feel. Very nice having leftovers. I did screw up tonight I came home and was so hungry that without even thinking I popped one of those big stuffed blue cheese olives in my mouth and chewed it but definitely not enough and for about an hour I regretted it. The band definitely is trying to stop mindless eating ! quote name='bromo' timestamp='1319847459' post='1679402'] I am loving my band and plication right now!! Having been out all afternoon and not have anything to prepare for dinner ready, I stopped by my absolute favorite BBQ place brought home some pulled pork, collards and green tomatoes. In the past I could have finished the whole plate and still had room for dessert. The first bite was heaven as I haven't had any for months. I fixed my salad plate and it was full but less than half of what was in the take out box. And I couldn't eat it all!! This would never never ever have stopped me in the past, being full, but now I am super satisfied and still have another meal, or more, in the fridge. I couldn't be happier right now.

how can I tell when I am full??
I asked my Dr. the day I went to the Nutritionist (same office) and there is nothing in it. I had chicken today and NO pain ! Took me for ever to eat it but it worked.

Sept 2011 bandsters
Yeah that's what I thought so I asked the other day and they said they put nothing in. Be very careful once they fill you and don't forget because it is the worst feeling ever ! But without a doubt it is all well worth it and I would do it again pain or no pain.

Sept 2011 bandsters
I try the walking around but it doesn't work for me unless it comes up and out I'm screwed. When was your surgery? You haven't had a fill and you feel restriction? [quote name='JinTx' timestamp='1319566243' post='1678014'] DRCS -- i got semistuck on a raw carrot. I have no fill. I say semi stuck bc i slimed a few times, stood up and walked around and it went down. There was no pbing. I am scheduled for a fill 10/31 but at the point i will not be getting one. I feel some restriction, can stay full for 4-5 hrs on half c of food and im loosing consistently. My carrot episode really reminded me to chew chew chew lol. J

Sept 2011 bandsters
I can't believe that no matter what I eat if it's not chewed to a puree and then time in between each bite it gets stuck. I was in a hurry this afternoon and just tried to get something quick so I grabbed a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. Two spoonfuls and the pain came and I was done. I'm sure I didn't chew it as much as I should but geez it was only cottage cheese! Did my errands came home and figured I had better get something to eat now sooo I had some Hummus with roasted pepper and a few crackers and of course didn't take long and I was stuck again. I HAVE HAD NO FILLS SO HOW CAN THIS BE !!!

Sept 2011 bandsters
You are sooo lucky to have not had any episodes. I was at the Nutritionists yesterday and they postponed my fill ( for 11/8 ) because they said I have to go 2 weeks without an episode before they will tighten me. I must be too tight already and I have never had a fill just plenty of restriction. I don't get it ! I chew everything into mush I eat very slow and can still at times have a problem My Nutri. thinks it must be dry food that does it and said to dip into sauces and FF gravy before eating meat. She said restriction now is good the fewer fills the better. I'm really not hungry much in between but had hoped a fill would help me lose faster.

how can I tell when I am full??
I am now having the problem of not knowing when I am satisfied. I mentioned this in another forum but saw that this is where I needed to post. I don't ever get a full or satisfied feeling. My first and only clue is I can't swallow....at that point it is already to late. I immediately stop and then I get the foaming and sharp heart attack type feeling for the next few hours. I haven't even had a fill yet. I even having trouble now swallowing my medication and my dr said I could cut it in half but no smaller and no crushing it. I am so uncomfortable after taking them everyday and that is the beginning of not wanting to any solids the rest of the day. I want to start being able to have this be a normal part of my life and stop being a fear of eating. I am very excited to get to my sweet spot and know what that is like, it must be a great feeling. Not sure why I am having this problem now I was fine with solids for a week or two then this started. Any ideas?

Only one fill - could I possibly need an unfill? Help!!!
I know where you're coming from except I have had no fill yet and feel like you. As long as I'm on Protein shakes, Isopure or any liquids I'm fine. In the last couple of weeks I am petrified to eat anything solid. I have been feeling like I'm going to die and then throw up for the next 1 - 2 hours almost anytime I eat solids. I couldn't chew any slower or longer if I tried it is practically liquid when it goes down. I'm afraid I did something to the band because of the vomiting, that's the one thing my Dr. said to try and be careful not to do because of band slippage or stretching of the pouch. I'm due for my first fill on Nov. 8th but am scared to get it because of it being harder to eat solids than it is now. On the other hand I need it because I am starved and want real food. One more thing ! I never feel full or that I am getting close to it. The only way I know I'm done is when I get the first feeling in my throat that it won't go down , then the chest pain. I stop immediately but it's already to late.....It's vomiting and slime time !!!! Shouldn't there be a feeling in between? I'm not even eating much before it starts. I'm lucky to get in 600 - 800 calories a day and that is including the protein drinks.
