  1. are we talking a leak..8 months out or a lung collapsing because of your VSG?
  2. I am 53 yrs old. When I was 19 yrs old I weighed 102...I thought I was fat, really I did. I went into the Air Force they made me gain 8 pounds. I was devastated. At 21 I had my son and guess what...I didnt care that I weighed 200 pounds when I delivered him. I lost weight and gained weight over the years. I never really obsessed about it. I did the VSG to feel better...my parents and boyfriend were shocked that I even considered it because I never complained about being fat, they didnt think it even mattered to me. I just really started to feel sluggish and old being 230 at 53 yrs old. Now I tell women that I know....IF you wear a size 10 or smaller....YOU ARE NOT FAT! A size 10 is average, normal, healthly. Its a shame to not see ourselves for what we are.
  3. Your stomach isnt completely healed for 6 weeks. Staying on full liquids or pureed/mushy foods is easier for your stomach while its repairing itself. Whether my doctor said I could eat chicken or steak or anything similar I wouldnt. I want my stomach to be comletely healed before it has to endure solid food. Its the same when some of the surgeons didnt required any diet head of time, but some gals knew it would be easier if their stomachs and bowels were empty at surgery time and dieted anyway. Dont get me wrong Im sick of blended soups and puddings too but I want to baby my stomach as long as it needs to heal completly. I feel 90% on the outside, but I know that is not true inside.
  4. I am still down only 2 pounds since my surgery on July 26th..pretty frustrating.....at least Im not hungry too!
  5. I ate a cone minus the cone from McDonalds and I was 8 days out. Couldnt eat but half and was full but it was good.
  6. The TV at Florence Health Oasis of Hope with Dr. Kelly gets ABC CBS and NBC, along with other stations. Same at the hotel. I brought my laptop and used it alot to take up time. You do sleep alot the second day and then you leave the morning of the next. I was bored stiff the first day because I got there at 9am and my surgery wasnt until 3:30pm. I had my IV in starting at about 10am. No water or ice chips all day. So I stayed on my laptop and chatted with my dad to pass the time.
  7. I was told walking only for 6 weeks until the staple line has completely healed.
  8. I had my surgery on July 26th and I felt pretty good the next day. I feel great today. Yesterday I went shopping in Palm Springs for 3 hours, in 112 degree heat. Besides alittle side ache at one point I felt great. My mom ended up carrying my purse by the 2 hour though. I am not tired or achy or anything. If I wasnt so restricted with the eating...I would feel preop normal. I return to work on Monday but I am a nanny so I have an ez job. Everyone is different though.
  9. I asked Dr Kelly about the omeprazol and he said to take it whether you have acid or not...he said its to protect your stomach. I didnt have any problems with my stomach so I was thinking I didnt have to take it. He said even so...take it. I have also been swallowing my other 2 meds since 3 days post op. Wellbutrin (cut in half) and Trazadone.
  10. I was taking pills 2 days after surgery, given to me by my surgeon. I was told I could start taking my own 2 Rx also. One of them I was told to cut in half the other was fine.
  11. Normally I would say "F*^% it" and go eat about 10 oreos...but I cant even do that.
  12. What is bowel prep? I only had to take a laxative followed by 3 days of liquids only.
  13. Has this happened to anyone else? I have been on only clear liquids since getting out of the hospital. I weighed this morning I weigh the same as the day I had surgery.....whats up with that?
  14. I once asked a skinny friend of mine how would she cope if she was allowed to drink only 1 beer...that was it...just 1. She loves to go have beer and watch the football games etc, go camping...all involve her friends and drinking. Like my activities involve going out to lunch with my friends. It put it into perspective for her. I also added she couldnt just quit drinking...that would have been easier....she had to drink one. Just like we have to eat now...just alot smaller portions.
  15. I too would be curious what size bougie they used? I couldnt eat 6 slices of pizza before my surgery.
  16. Thats funny to me actually. I live in Orange County California, its more dangerous to cross the street in Santa Ana at night than to cross the border in the daytime with a driver. Unless you are in the back of a van under the wheel well being smuggled across by "coyotes".
  17. How overweight does Kaiser want someone to be?
  18. 2 weeks to get an ultra sound...? Really? You could have a stone get stuck by then. Next time you have those pains go to the emergency room, see how fast they do one then. I had the same deal 6yrs ago, it was gall stones and I was told if I didnt have it removed before a stone got stuck that they would have to open me up and recovery time sucks for that, but if I have it done soon then its ez ...in and out same day. Work in 5 days. I of course took the ez way. Anytime I would diet I would get these pains. I didnt know what they were until I got the attack that was so bad I thought I was going to explode. What insurance do you have?
  19. Me too! Tomorrow is the day!
  20. Im going to TJ tomorrow. My surgery is with Dr Kelly. I will post as soon as I am able to type.
  21. my pills say not to crush them.....one is slow released. now im worried.
