  1. Diamondatrix, aside from Dr. Marema, mentioned on the post before me, there are 5 more surgeons of Excellence in the Jacksonville area. Also St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville is a Hospital of Excellence and there are probably more. Florabama, so happy to see you around here!!!!! Hope you are recovering nicely!
  2. I was thinking about you today. Why sour? Is this not their normal request to all patients?
  3. Do a search for "low BMI" on this site. You will find some good threads. Best wishes!
  4. Best of luck WISHES!!!!!!!!! Can't to wait to hear from you. :bounce:
  5. Congratulations! (Kick your PCP to the curb!)
  6. Amanda, thanks SO much! I expect to have surgery In the Fall/Winter season and I tend to get "blue" at that time of the year. I think it will be beneficial to have someone to talk to while I recover. Sorry OP for hijacking your thread just a tad.
  7. Amanda did you search for a specific "kind" of therapist? Did you ask before hand if they had experience with bariatric patients? How did you go about it? Lots of questions. :-)
  8. English is also my second language but it has never stopped me from engaging in a serious topic. Please don't let that stop YOU! Glad you were surprised we knew about Ramadan. The world is a smaller place now, isn't it? BTW I just watched ALL of the episodes of Greys Anatomy. Loved it!
  9. Do all doctors have/need an assistant surgeon? Why would your surgeon use one if your insurance doesn't pay for it? At minimum you should have been told beforehand, right? Seems you found out through co-workers. Is this something we have to all find out now?
  10. Despite having seen quite a few before and after pictures the first thing that popped in my head when I saw yours was "Wow people do get thin with this surgery!". It's still shocking. You look GREAT! Congratulations.
  11. Since this is a website about a serious surgery, I certainly hope everyone is mature enough to not "feel forced" by strangers on a public forum. The original poster is not being disrespected. She posted and is receiving responses. I am sure in the end she will do what feels right to her.
  12. You look beautiful! The dress looks great on you. I can't imagine going on vacations and maintaining like Thinoneday, much less losing weight like you did. Wow!
  13. Welcome! It will be an awesome 40th birthday.
  14. Seems you already lied about the San Diego trip(by omission). When she notices you are losing weight faster than ever before, I suspect she will consider this "excuse" yet another lie. Since you adore her and see her daily, you might want to reconsider your decision of keeping it from her. If you think she will freak out that it's in TJ, perhaps you can tell her as soon as you come back, so you don't have to be coming up with lies. Just my opinion. :-)
  15. You are not alone. I am a volume eater and keeping the pounds off forever is what worries me the most. However we have never had a tool like the one we will get, so we will have a much better chance at success. Best wishes!
  16. Awesome! Good news all around.
  17. Perhaps joining Weight Watchers, a gym or the like where she doesn't feel alone during her weight loss journey might help. However counseling as the others have pointed out is an even better idea. Best wishes!
  18. Hi Lali. I have not had surgery yet, so can't answer your questions about post-op but there is LOTS of information on this website about it. Do a search (top right) and you will find lots of useful tips and advice. Congratulations and welcome! I think you will like this site. Looking forward to knowing all about the yummy Dominican stuff you will create as the months go by!
  19. :Banane03: Congratulations on getting approved! Awesome!!!! :Banane02:
  20. I couldn't agree more. Congratulations!!!!!!
  21. You explained it very well. Congratulations and welcome!
  22. You have been very patient! I hope you have good news tomorrow. Keep us updated!!!! :-)
  23. Did you try calling his wife or writing him a letter/email? He might not be returning calls from anyone. I hope you don't lose him as a friend, since you have known him all of your life.
