  1. I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez April 9th. I am so glad that I picked him. He was awesome and I have had no issues with my sleeve. I got off of my 2 BP medications 9 days post op and no longer have diabetes. I am down 48 pounds and feeling great. Just follow all of his instructions and you will do great!!
  2. I was off work for 3 weeks after my VSG. I wanted to be off long enough to make sure I would have the stamina to work 12 hour day and night shifts. I work a high stress console job and had no problems returning after 3 weeks. Best wishes to you.
  3. I'm glad this question was asked. I have also been able to eat more than most of the people I have read about here. I am 6' 4", so maybe that explains it. I am losing weight, but was concerned about the same thing.
  4. When I was 9 days post op, I took my blood pressure meds (2) and shortly after that, I felt a lot like what you are describing. I took my bp and it was 99/66. Later that day it started coming back up and I felt better. I went to see my PCP and he took me off of both meds. It is amazing that it happened leterally overnight. Do you have a bp monitor?
  5. :001_smile: Nice to hear that your sister is doing much better.
  6. I like the Unjury unflavored protein wth Fruit Punch Crystal Light.
  7. Hi Brian, I am sorry for your loss. I got my sleeve 3 1/2 weeks ago and everything is going great. I haven't had any negative issues so far. 9 days post op, I got off of both of my blood pressure medications. It also appears that my diabetes is a thing of the past. I am down 34 pounds so far and I am walking 3 miles a day. I think this procedure is an awesome thing to do for youself and your kids. This forum has a lot of great infomation. Keep us posted.
  8. I hope you are better real soon fellow Texan!!
  9. For me, the pain was minimal. I felt a little bit of soreness when I raised up out of bed, but that was about it. The first day I slept a lot. The second day I was walking hourly and doing fine. The whole process has not been bad at all for me. Just ready to try some real food in a few more days!! Best wishes to you.
  10. Everything is going great. 9 days post op, my PCP took me off of both of my blood pressure pills. I couldn't believe the change overnight. One day, my bp was great with the meds and the next day my bp was 99/66 after taking my meds. It also appears that my diabetes (diagnosed 12/09) is gone. I am still in the full liquids stage for about another 10 days and that is going well. Nothing has bothered my sleeve so far. I have tried a few different blended soups and they are really good. I started walking a few days ago and will continue to step up the distance over the next few days to get up to 3 miles a day or so. As always, thanks to everyone here for all I have learned.
  11. My Mom made a big pot of soup for me for my full liquids phase. It is very good. 6 medium to large potatoes or 8 small 16 oz frozen broccoli 16 oz Velveeta cheese (light) Cook potatoes and broccoli. Do not drain Water Add cheese and allow it to melt. Add 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can cream of celery soup 1 can cream of mushroom soup (You can get most of these 98% fat free) Puree in blender. This is a lot of soup, so we froze it in small containers.
  12. I work with many shift workers that would disagree with you about melatonin being an "expensive placebo". I think 60 of them cost $6 or $7. There is no doubt they work for us shift workers.
  13. I normally use it about 7 nights per month. Only on rare occasions does it not work. I do not know what it would do if taken every night.
  14. I have read numerous posts about people having trouble sleeping after the VSG. I am a shift worker, so sleep issues is something I am familiar with. About 5 years ago, I discovered Melatonin. It is a natural "chemical" that is found in your body that makes you sleepy. I take it when I am working days. When working nights, I sleep all day with no problems. It makes me sleep very well, and no hung over feeling when I wake up. I take a 3 mg tablet about 1 hour before I want to go to sleep. A few coworkers have reported strange dreams, but it does not cause issues for me. I buy it at my grocery store in the vitamin and herb section. Might be worth a try.
  15. I am one week post op and I feel great. I haven't had any pain and have had no problems getting in enough liquid. I sleep like a baby at night and stay awake all day. I am very happy that I chose Dr. Alvarez. He did an awesome job. I am looking forward to getting back on full liquids Monday. I lost 16 pounds on the 2 week pre-op diet and have lost another 14 post op!! I started at 308# and plan on shooting for 210-220#.
  16. Hello everyone, I have been reading this forum for several months and I would like to thank everyone for sharing a lot of good information. I got my sleeve on April 9th and came home today. I used Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, Mexico and couldn't be happier with my choice. I spent many hours researching here and on other areas. Dr. Alvarez is everything that I could have expected and even more. I am very excited to have this new lease on life.
  17. I am currently on my 2 week pre-op diet. I like the Body Fortress from Wal-Mart.
  18. My date with Dr. Alvarez is April 9th. I only live about 200 miles away and wish I would have gone for a visit. Even though I didn't visit, I am very comfortable with my decision to use Dr. Alvarez for my procedure. I have spent many hours researching and look forward to meeting Dr. Alvarez.
