  1. There's nothing to learn, it is scary to have major surgery especially in a place you are not familiar with. Of course I flew back home after surgery, I wasn't going to walk back to Florida but the major thing to get over is the mental problem of having surgery, and the unknowns. Mind over matter, you will be fine.
  2. Nothing to worry about, you will be fine.
  3. I think this is acid reflux, I had an issue with this. My mother told me to make sure I stay away from tomato juice because of the acid. Try taking nexium, it worked for me.
  4. Hello I am back from Tijuana 4 days post op and very tired it is 3:00 am right now. I will tell you as much as I can right now, but if you have any questions please ask more I would like to help many people with their journey. I actually had surgery with a better surgeon named Dr. Ramos Kelly, I liked both Lopez and Kelly but early on I was told that Kelly was not going to be an option. Kelly last minute about a week before surgery became an option, I jumped on the opportunity and I am so grate full for it. If you compare the way he performs the procedures compared to how American doctors do it, you will see the exact same method. He has great bed side manner, he was very caring, and he put my nerves away very quickly by going over everything with his calm and cool confidence. I remember researching doctors for years on several sites, and I always see people posting that their doctors would see them for 10 minutes before the surgery and that would be it. Dr. Kelly was there everyday constantly asking me questions and making me ask him questions and he even came to my hotel a few minutes before I was about to leave, just to say good bye, good luck, and that if he was in my area of Florida he might check me up. Dr. Kelly is a down to earth guy who is very understanding to his patients. I got out of the surgery 4 days of good care, great hard working nurses that don't speak English but they know what they are doing. All the Doctors I saw speak very good English, and if you need a translator or go between there is a very nice woman named Trish who will pretty much bend over backwards for you no matter if you ask for it or not. Going to Tijuana was very scary but from the moment you get there you meet this nice man named Ricardo who is very lively and animated, he is the driver. He showed me and my companion around Tijuana before going to the hospital, my impression of the hospital is mixed, yes its a little small, but it is very clean and very nice especially compared to some of these clinics that some people go too. I also had my final leak test performed at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana, another hospital Dr. Kelly is connected with and I really liked that place, probably out of most people's price range but I was impressed. I stayed at this nice hotel called the Baja Inn that has great Mexican food which I have taken pictures of, but I wasn't hungry just would have liked to get a taste. I would really like to go to Tijuana one day when I get better, the place is covered with great food everywhere from fresh sliced up fruit, and freshly grilled steak tacos. I will post my Tijuana pictures in my profile some where and maybe even a blog, but you should get a look at them to get an idea for yourself.:glare:
  5. Thanks wannalise... I usually do whatever I can for him by getting him whatever he needs. Do you think I should hide his scale?
  6. This is kind of silly, but this is what I got for myself on Ebay a few weeks ago: http://iheartguts.com/shop/images/me...-plush_med.jpg That is cute and funny! Thanks!
  7. I decided on a photo album / journal type thing where he can write stuff and add his progress pictures. With a poem I wrote.
  8. Aw, thank you
  9. Even though my husband is not the journal type, I think he may actually want one for this journey! Thanks for the idea!
  10. My husband (mick78) comes home from Mexico after having his surgery on Friday. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a nice special gift? Maybe something you wish you would have had post op? The girls drew their daddy a picture, but now I need some suggestions. Thanks for any help
  11. My wife needs to stay home with the kids, so I am going to take a friend of mine.
  12. I have my surgery coming up soon Sept. 21st with Dr. Martin Lopez at the Tijuana's Santa Fe clinic.
  13. I expedited, and it took about 2 weeks.
  14. I got bad credit and through mymedicaloans.com I had to come up with 50 % of the cost of surgery, for me this cuts about 7 more months of saving.
  15. They will just recheck your blood work and make sure everything is the same as last time. Good luck with your surgery.
  16. Hello all once again, I will look into the strawberry milkshake Blaqbeary posted. I tried the amplified wheybolic extreme 60 that Cknorte, and NC Redneck recommended and I liked it a lot. Maybe more than muscle milk, i'm not sure. Extreme 60 tastes creamier than muscle milk, and I find muscle milk to be more thick and rich. I prefer a lighter tasting drink, so I will probably go with the extreme 60. I also noticed a couple of huge differences between muscle milk and extreme 60. Muscle Milk total fat: 12, protein: 32, extreme 60 total fat: 1, Protein 60. I like extreme 60 when it comes to those stats, but maybe I might need the more fat? not sure? My wife just returned the protein powders that I didn't like for a full refund, but like teh ericka said make sure you check your local stores policy, and keep the receipt.:001_rolleyes:
  17. what kind of crystal light do you rotate into it?
  18. Hello All, Thanks for replying I only tried three different Protein powders and I find the muscle milk in the chocolate flavor good. They have a few different flavors but I have no clue if they are any good. I will look into everyone's suggestions. I really enjoy the shakes with minced ice. As my kids say "Try it you'll like it" :001_smile:
  19. Hello all, My wife recently discovered that if you buy any Protein powders at GNC and for some reason do not like them, you can either return them for exchange or get your full money back. I tried a few different ones, and the powder I liked the most is called muscle milk. Hopefully this helps someone. p.s. make sure and check with your local GNC I am not sure if this is a company policy.

  21. I'm having surgery with Dr. Martin Lopez on sept 21st, when are you having yours?
  22. Hello everyone, I went to see my surgeon the other day in Celebration, Florida and it ended up being a informative seminar about all the surgeries they do. Since I am going through my insurance I will need to go on a 6 month weight loss program with weight checks every month. I guess this is for insurance purposes, but what exactly am i suppose to do? I am only about ten pounds over the 100 pound requirement and about 1 or 2 % over the 40% BMI requirement. Basically my worry is if i lose too much weight i will fall to 39% BMI and my insurance will not cover my surgery. What am i suppose to be doing here? Am I suppose to be maintaining, losing, gaining more? When i went to the seminar they weighed me, is that the weight they will use for insurance purposes? does anyone know? please help? I would like to start my diet now, but only if it will not effect my surgery coverage.:scared0::confused1::confused1::thumbup:
