  1. Happy 66th Birthday linda92637!

  2. 42 lbs is awesome! I hope I do as well as you. I'm having my first fill on Aug 2, right now I feel I could eat just about anything,so I don't think I've hit ghe "green" zone yet, I'm probably in the yellow zone. I'm a little worried about the fill. Good job on your weight loss!
  3. Exciting news! I am 64 and I was banded on June 22. I had planned to be off work about 2-1/2 weeks as everyone told me it takes longer for "older" people to heal. The only problems I had after surgery was the gas, it was the worse! My doctors office told me to take children's liquid advil and that helped. I was so bored at home I figured I could sit at work as well as sit at home. I went back to work on June 28. I've not had any problems, but must admit I was hungry for food on the 3rd day after surgery. I didn't want to give in and stayed on a liquid diet until July 3. I have lost about 20 lbs I think. I'm not into weighing myself and I'm going by how I feel and how my clothes fit me. I feel great and I wear baggy clothes I don't want to spend $ on new clothes until I lose a little bit more weight. Let me know how you are doing! I am looking forward to my new life as well. My biggest break through will be when I can buy in the "regular women's department"!!! What a happy day that will be! -Linda
  4. I was banded on 6/22/11 and I had that same pain and I know how awful it is! My doctors office suggested liquid motrin, you buy it in the children's area of the pharmacy. That is the only thing that helped me, and I was walking often, anything to get that gas out of there. I would think your pain would be less as the days go on but it may be worth a call to your doctor if it isn't getting any better.

    5 days Postop and STARVING

I know exactly how you feel! I was banded last Wednesday 6/22 as well and I am very tired of the liquid diet. Yesterday I went to the store and purchased some Progresso vegtable soup, I blended it and added some V8 juice. I then strained it through a strainer and drank the liquid only. It really hit the spot. I'm going to try it with chicken noodle soup as well. Much better than vanilla or chocolate! I also notice that everyone has different rules as to how long we have to be on the liquid diet. My doctor said 2 weeks, only 8 days to go I am going back to work tomorrow, I never thought I'd feel good enough to go back to work this soon. I'm going to work 6 hours day this week and then back to full time next week. Does anyone else have any "liquid" food ideas?

    My first Post-Op posting

Thank you for your response. I've already found this website to be very helpful and will use it as a tool that I know will help me every step of the way. I'm also trying to learn my way around this site....thanks again!

    My first Post-Op posting

I was banded on June 22, 2011. The only pain that I have had is the shoulder/chest pain from the gas. It was so bad I wanted to cut my arm off. I called the doctor and they told me to take liquid motrin and that helped. Today, June 25, I have not taken any pain medication. I'm pretty tired of the liquid diet already, and I have 9 days left of this! I feel hungry and wish I could eat. The first couple of days after banding I had no discomfort at all. Today, however, I feel pressure in my stomach, it is like a side ache. I'm guessing it is because I'm drinking too fast? Does anyone have any ideas on how to vary the liquid diet? I have the drinks I purchased at my doctors office, VHP in vanilla, chocolate and a cream of chicken soup. I also have the Slim Fast Low Carb drinks in chocolate. They all taste good, I'm just tired of them already.....I sometimes wonder what I have done to myself....but I must win this battle. I'm 64, almost 65, and I want the rest of my life to be healthier and have the ability to do more things that my weight has prevented me from doing. I'm afraid I'm going to fail. A lot of emotions right now.....is this normal?
  9. I also had a hernia repair, the only pain I have had so far is the pain in my chest and left shoulder. There have been times I've wanted to cut my arm off it hurt so bad. It is getting better. I had hernia repairas well. I'm sorry you are having so much pain!

  10. I only had surgery 2 days ago and I'm already tired of the liquid diet! And I feel hungry....any ideas that would help me?
