  1. Same here. I'm ready to be done with it already.
  2. How do they fix a sliding hernia while they're in for VSG? My surgeon said he was going to be repairing mine while he was in there. Would the hernia be the cause of having that "full to there (throat)" feeling?
  3. Not unless you're planning on getting pregnant Doug I've been planning on switching to buckwheat pillows for a few months now. I just haven't yet. I bought a small travel/childs sized buckwheat pillow to use against my stomach AND to "test it out" before committing to buying the bed sized buckwheat pillows. Gotta say I'm a convert.
  4. You know, I think along with this surgery comes finding our confidence (again? for the first time?) and the ability to realize we're NOT those heavy people anymore who have to feel like they take what they can get if that makes sense? Maybe I'm wording it poorly... anyway... what I'm trying to say is if it does play out the way you say and some dingdong man makes a comment without realizing it's you... you can tell him "umm that's me" and gauge the reaction from there. He'll either be mortified by his comment and apologize (or ask questions) or he'll be a jackass and you can show him the door. Good men (and to be fair women) can get eat up with the dumbass sometimes and say thoughtless things without trying to be mean. It's in their reaction that helps seperate them from the jackasses.
  5. makes sense. I've really no idea what I'm in for painwise lol. Soon enough though.
  6. LOL I remember freshman/sophomore year (92ish I guess? I graduated in 96) wearing a black body suit (they'd just come out) and these big ass levi's with my docs. Sure I'd have a flannel shirt but it's damn hot in Texas LOL I didn't wear that thing! It was around my waist. I looked HOT! LOL I had this long stretchy clingy knit dress from Express...scoop neck. I wore that with some MIA "combat boots". LOL Who knows if we're related You look like a cousin of mine!
  7. I'm thinking I should probably start slow walking on the treadmill a few days after I come home? Does that sound about right? I know I can't do any sort of weights/lifting for 6 weeks per what the dr gave me. How about yoga/pilates as long as it's not strenuous on my tummy? When would yall think I could start doing that?
  8. I'm definitely size oriented. My brother pegged it right on the nose Christmas Eve.. he said "we come from big sturdy thick bovine genetics". My dad's dad was 6 ft 4 13EEE shoe when he passed at 70something years old. We're THICK people lol not necessarily all fat just.. thick and weight has never been much of an indicator for us. I'm the "runt of the family" at 5 ft 6 or 7. Anyhow... back in high school I remember being like... a 10/12 and looking pretty damn hot. A 10/12 is my goal but I wonder if I could make it down to an 8? I wonder if an 8 might be too small for me? I'm playing it by ear really and figuring anywhere between 8 - 12 (I'm using Gap's size chart) would be good for me. I'd also like to actually wear a bikini.
  9. I think that's one of the best goals I've ever seen
  10. If you know you would've been invisible to them before (example: mr ex fratboy who hangs out by the Water cooler all day.. didn't know you were alive before and now you catch him checking you out?)... 2 questions actually... 1 - why would you be attracted to that personality in the first place and 2- why would you want to give that person the time of day? I mean this as far as romantically and friendships. I think life's entirely too short to waste it on relationships with people who are less than genuine/are Fakey McFakersons. They're never fullfilling relationships anyway and end up draining you emotionally. Either way... it's no good...especially when there are plenty of honestly genuine, loving, accepting people in this world waiting to become your new friend/love that you just haven't met yet... but that's just my own personal loud mouthed opinion
  11. It was like that early this morning. I figured it was just a fluke or something. Where'd they go?
  12. Ok so 2 questions that occured to me today. While I'm on Clear liquids, do I need to be concerned with the temperatures of say the broths & herbal teas? I mean I can handle those things just fine for a few days but if they've gotta be cold I'm gonna have a problem LOL. My other question is do I need to be overly concerned about Proteins those first few days? My dr has me on clears for 5 days. I've got the Isopure flavorless on order so I suppose I could add some to my Jello & broth... how much do you add? Any suggestions for getting through the clears? OH!!! At what stage could I drink pulp free orange juice whether it be diluted or in a Protein drink???
  13. Yep I have to say I would still need the surgery because if I could get that 100 lbs off... I wouldn't weigh what I do right now. I wouldn't have wasted the last 10 years of my life (and my 20s to boot) being obese.
  14. I'm in the same boat as you. So far I've gotten a list of movies on itunes that I want to watch..same with a list of books on kindle. I've gotten my shopping lists together for proteins/vitamins/sugar free stuff/etc. We've gotten our bedroom very clean and organized so the weekend before it's a matter of bedding, vacuuming and getting things set up. Maybe I can convince dh to move the tv/cable box upstairs? Hrmmm good idea I've gotten waxed & a pedicure. I'm making a packing list (based on the hospital list from the forum) for the hospital. I'm interested to see other responses too.
  15. Where did you buy these? I can't remember seeing them at HEB.
  16. Thanks Mary! BTW, I'm one of those people with the quadboob. I don't think I've bothered with the right size bra in a few years now...in fact I've gone to mostly sports bras except for the stray few regular bras. I tell ya what, that's one thing I'm looking forward to. Nice bras that fit again. BTW Myrori I'm with you on the taping but I think that blue painters tape might be a little friendlier lol.
  17. Since it was brought up.. I'm dying to ask because I've tried to work this one out in my head FOREVER now. If your boobies are hanging down around your belly, how in the world do they figure out your proper bra size if you're braless? I'm being completely serious here. I'm afraid I'll never be able to get properly sized for a bra because of.. well... pedulous activity when the girls are set free. Also speaking of bras, after yall are sleeved, how are you managing? I mean, are you buying a bra or 2? A sports bra or 2 that's a bit more forgiving in the way of sizing? When do you even figure it's time for new bras? By the way, I'm always going to shop in Torrid if anything just for the shoes & jewelry/accessories! I wouldn't worry so much about feeling you're too old to shop in certain stores but I'd judge by the items you're trying on. If you feel comfortable in them than go for it! I say you've earned it.
  18. Finally getting over here. I'm tentatively scheduled for 1/25. My preop appt is on the 19th, so we'll know for sure what's what then. A little about me? My name is Selena but all my friends call me Sen. The last time I weighed (last summer some time?) I was at 300 lbs. My surgeon wanted me to quit smoking for 3 months prior to surgery so I managed to do that on Halloween night. Yesterday was my last day of the patch. It's getting really hard for me to keep to the straight & narrow right now but I'll be damned if I screw it up when I'm in the home stretch. My surgeon is Dr Luis Reyes in South Texas. I'm really excited and looking forward to it. I'm a bit nervous about things but I'm more excited than anything. Yesterday I ordered a whole ton of clothing catalogs to look at during dinner time LOL. Remind myself why I'm having what I'm having when he's having whatever he's getting to have for dinner. How is everyone doing who has already been sleeved?

  20. Good to know about stairs. HAHA You know... I REALLY don't think the saints will be a problem but he does. Then again, I've never been away from the 2 youngest ... well ever? Big Girl would be used to it. We've gone to Disney World before since getting her. One of the youngest (they're both going to be 2 in Feb) is a real mama's boy so I suppose DH has a point there. The mama's boy waits at our bedroom door for me to wake up every morning to escort me downstairs. Although I have to say, I'm more worried about the ninja kitties in our room over the big dogs.
  21. I tried looking for a pinned thread and I didn't see it? I saw the hospital stay list. These are great suggestions. Things I wouldn't have thought of. Will I not be able to climb stairs for a few days? Our bedroom is upstairs and DH is planning on taking me directly there (do not pass go do not collect $200) because of our 3 saint bernards. He's afraid they'll get TOO overly excited when I come home.
  22. Hi guys. I'm tentatively scheduled for 1/25. I've already downloaded the hospital stay checklist (great list!). I was wondering, while I'm at it and gathering things together, if anyone had any recommendations for what to have on hand for when you come home? What did yall find extra handy to have on hand for the first month home? What did yall find you needed most and really didn't need to worry about? Thanks in advance!
  23. I could've posted that. I miss all those things too. By the way, I played games like Feeding Frenzy 1 and 2, Farm Frenzy or any other "time management games" to help me get past those craving moments that drove me nuts. I still do actually. I was able to play a level or 3 or more when I was really antsy to help me get my mind off it and get past that craving. I also drank orange juice to help with the cravings too and that helped a lot for me. Keep up the good work. You can do it
