Sliding Hernia Repair?

How do they fix a sliding hernia while they're in for VSG? My surgeon said he was going to be repairing mine while he was in there. Would the hernia be the cause of having that "full to there (throat)" feeling?

Yes, they can cause that feeling, mine caused me to feel an actual choking sensation when food got stuck at the base of the esophagus in the hernia.

They usually pull the herniated are back into the abdomen and then reinforce the are with a netting material to prevent it from sliding back up. Take a look at Youtube for more info: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hiatal+hernia&search=Search
