  1. I had 4cc put in first fill. Don't feel restriction. Didn't hurt more then a shot. Not the most fun but can get through it. I can ask for numbing stuff but feel a little like baby as sounds like most don't get it. Hoping 2nd will give some restriction.
  2. I was self pay too and surgeon just included it if he found one which he did rather large and I had no symptoms. I think it made the surgery 15-20 minutes longer but nothing major. I think my recovery was the same as if just had band. No chest issues just incision pain/port. By day 3 doing pretty well and off pain meds day 4 or 5.
  3. I'm pretty happy today as had first fill last wed and today ate at panera and had soup and 1/2 sandwich which normally could devour pretty easily and felt plenty satisfied after half the sandwich. I feel I don't have much restriction but thinking that must be some. I was feeling like could eat same amount if I tried.
  4. I can't wait to give to good will my old (because I refuse to buy in these big sizes) cloths and break out my smaller ones. The small ones many will have to go to as outdated but it sure will be fun shopping. But I really just want to clear my closet of these way to huge clothing!
  5. I had surgery 4/20 and fill (4cc in 11cc band) 5/30... I am kind of bummed as not feeling anything. Next will be 7/11. They said if I'm losing 1lb a week they prob won't but I'll be pushing them as if I'm just dieting on my own as it is now I want a fill to get the tool to help !
  6. Thanks much. They hadn't told me anything but seemed like not eating for a while before would be right way to go. It's not until 4:15 so I just won't eat after lunch. Thanks
  7. Get my first fill tomorrow after 4/20 surgery (yay). I know I've been reading you go on liquids after and kind of start over in phases but I don't recall if you have to do anything different before during day. Should you fast x hours before or eat liquid before? Thanks
  8. I see similar posts all the time which gives me hope. I am similar to you. Banded 4/20 and lost 16 in preop and first week. After that as I feel great it's been either holding or down only .4 a week which is not motivational . I like you have been exercising everyday and tracking food. Getting my protein in. My counting doesn't show me getting too many cal in but maybe I am somehow. I just hired a personal trainer too once a week and follow his exercise rec of interval training. Hoping will push be off center. I don't have fill until wed. Which hope may help as I can pretty much eat same as normal and really have to restrict myself. Good luck and we can make it work.
  9. I felt better as like you said some lose allot but seems like more (and I'm one) stop losing quickly even though taking in so low calories. I sure hope scale moves eventually ! I think like folks said combination of shock to body and healing first and a bit of being in starvation mode so your body tries to hold on. Seems like every says don't worry about the first month so I'm trying not to.
  10. Wouldn't worry so much about eggs as you probably won't have for a week post op (if you Dr. is like most) as you will be on liquid diet first week. I overstocked broth! I still have about 8 boxes of it. Jello, shakes, popcycles..week two at least puree'd foods which was fun to have tuna, Soups, egg salad thin, etc.
  11. Oh yes forgot to add I read the posts here but still frusturated as it doesn't work on ipad, or iphones these groups only the other forums outside the groups. I posted that on the admin support site but no response. I mainly use my phone to check in. oh well.
  12. Hi, Surgery was 4/20 and I'm with you in bandster hell. I've lost 16 (9 two weeks pre op, 7 first week, and .6 third ). I will only weigh myself on Friday's (I will be shocked if that scale is ever a friend) and hoping the scale gives me a little love tomorrow.. Feeling great other wise and can eat now which is awesome and not too many intolerable foods since band is open. First fill isn't until 5/30. I am hungry which is tough but trying to eat a protein snack between meals to ward off the beast. 20 more days and hoping to get some help from the band as you know at this point it's just another diet. Keeping a positive attitude as this site has helped so much and hearing the success from people even after they have struggled. Hope everyone is doing well!
  13. You are so lucky you have BCBS. They seem like the best insurance. From all I read you will be fine especially with apnea which is considered serious. I have UHC and they said only "serious " co-morbidities would work which they get to determine what is serious. Basically it was diabetes, hypertension, or apnea is all they would accept under 40 and for 5 years and you had to have two of then!! I have insulin resistance taking metformin for, high cholesterol , triglycerides , and reactive airway. Not good enough after 3 appeals. Anyhow good you have BCBS and sure you will get through approved. Good luck
  14. $17,000 Kane Center in west Chicago suburbs. Includes 1 night stay at hospital and 3 months office visits and fill. After $300 under flora and $150 w/o. Also offer optional insurance (which I bought) for complications (slips, erosion). I bought 2 years for about $1,300.
  15. I gave myself lovenox shots for 6 days after.
  16. I'm 15 day post op and it does go down but I still think mine is not fully normal (some swelling or fluids still there) but close. At 5 days for sure not. Maybe at 8,9,10 days seem to be less distended. I had allot of gurgling/gas when I ate unil around 7 days. I was surprised it didn't last longer. Give it a few more days. Good luck Cyndi
  17. I'm 5' 1" and when I was 130 I was a size 6. It was tough to maintain (I'm pretty muscular) and was still an 8 at 140. I would be beyond the world if I could hit 130 but my dr is fine with 140. I have no desire really to be lower then a 6. Not going to starve myself and the muscles don't think will let me:)
  18. Thanks for post. It really helps us new people. I'm shocked at how some Dr take our health and life so casually. Glad you found a better one.
  19. I'm getting the protein in 11 days out but they told me just 10-15g per meal. I'm worried as goes up as they said add the protein powder but not really sure how to add that doesn't taste bad. I got beneprotein and the packets for just 6g are big. I put a little in applesauce and was lumpy not great. Put some in potatoe and was on. Not really sure what I'm going to be able to throw it in.
  20. First day painful, second day better but still painful, third day much better and each day then got better. Hang in there. Agree I wasn't using the strips enough. When the gurgling starts really helped. Hang in there!
  21. I hadn't seen these but will look for! Trying to get protein in but hard on week 2. Bought those benne protein powder but it is so much for like a little soup it made it so thick I couldn't use. I can't see putting in applesauce. How do others use the powder best? Thanks
