  1. He hee ..this were one of my fav guilty pleasures pre op, but I never dreamed of eating them post op..then again I used to eat the whole can. The grease didn't bother you?
  2. Try to relax and definately get some rest. It will all be fine and you'll be a loser before you know it!
  3. Mary, thanks for this recipe! I actually had some Steak Ums on Thursday so this is very timely for me. I was surprised at the amount of protien in a serving and the box will certainly go a long way for us. My husband cooked me 2 slices and that was way two much so 1 slice is the perfect portion not to mention how quick and easy they are to cook. Looking forward to trying your suggestion.
  4. I'm in Plumas Lakes/Olivehurst which is between Sac and Marysville. Had my sleeve done @ Kaiser Richmond.
  5. I've just been packing 2 ounces of whatever I pureed for dinner the night before, plus 2 ounces cottage cheese, and a little bit of peanut butter just in case. I drink a protein shake on the way in that holds me until I make myself eat after being @ work for 2 hours. I actually use my lunch break to walk a mile around our campus then eat lunch close to the end of my day. Stay on top of your water when you go back! I sit all day so I have a supple of water lined up on my desk. If I were up and moving around I think it would be super easy to forget to drink, 4 of the meatballs has 10 grams of protein and only 4 carbs. I ususally puree about 4 and divide it up for two meals. I don't eat anything with them, but have added a touch of liquid from some collard greens I cooked for the "eaters" in my house. I think you could get away though without adding any liquid. Other great things to take are shrimp salad, crab salad, or egg salad. Just make these like you would tuna salad (eggs, relish, mustard, mayo, or tartar sauce) and puree it a little. The shrimp was the yummiest and what a treat! I hope things go well for you once you get back to work and start weaning yourself now from those afternoon naps.
  6. Saw my surgeon today and he said I was glowing! Gotta love that man's bedside manner. Anyhoo what's really important is I told him I was concerned about my super slow weight lost. Had surgery 6/15 and I'm only down 17 pounds. Well Dr. Wonderful said I'm right where he wants me to be and my weight loss is going great for 3 weeks out. Ok! I feel much better and less like a loser at losing. By the by if anyone has a Whole Foods in their area I found the most delicious Pesto Parmesan Chicken Meatballs there. They are simply heat and eat and super tasty. Not to mention they puree very well. I'm at this food stage until next Wednesday and wondering if anyone might have some other quick easy pureed protein ideas? Now that I'm back at work I've got to keep things easy peasy!
  7. That's so fantastic and very inspiring! WAY TO GO!:thumbup1:
  8. Read my post from a few days ago and you'll see that I'm no angel either! 3 weeks post op and I've had some grazing days too. I've even eaten stuff that's not on my meal plan stage. Old habits die hard. We just have to remember this is a lifestyle change that doesn't happen over nite. Looking back maybe I thought the surgery would be like a switch that would turn off my old habits. Sadly, that's not the case. Try to be patient yourself and remember you don't want to eat anything that will damage or stretch your new little tummy!
  9. Glad to hear your surgery went well and that you're feeling strong. I wish you great success and welcome to the sleeved community!
  10. Thanks Donna4545. I admit I'm a scale whore. I use it as my motivation, but it can also be my worst enemy. I really still have a lot to learn.

I've been a bad bad girl! Yesterday I grazed all day. I had pureed shrimp salad with avocado, strawberries, pureed pesto parmesan chicken meatballs, pureed collard greens, and pulled pork that wasn't pureed but smoked for 7 hrs on the grill. Worse of all I must confess (and do not advocate this at all) I had......2 potatoe chips and a couple of bites of sugar free brownie:scared0:!!! Mind you none of this made me sick and I only felt overly full once, but I concerned about what on earth is wrong with me? I don't have a death wish and I really do want to follow my plan. Whatever I ate I took it real slow and pulverized it in my mouth before I swallowed. I'm worried though about the calories I consumed and the fact that I didn't puree everything. Tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks post op so should this kind of eating even be possible? I was outta control and really scared that I may have messed up bad. How do I get back in control today? Do many of you even go thru a pureed food stage anyway? I'm guilty as sin and would love some advice, counsel, and absolution!!
  12. LOL!! I love that you found away to get out of your own head. I also love pico de gallo and I would put it on everything before I had my surgery. Just keep thinking how your putting yourself in the best physical condition for your surgery. The healthier you are pre op the easier post op will be. 9 days is nothing and you know that you can do this!!!
  13. I'm in total agreement with Mesha and highly recommend the Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away The Pounds" series. I love her simple walking workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own home. Sometimes I don't even put on my tenniss shoes and do it! It's so simple and you can really go at your own pace and the work out you get is amazing. Once you get good at it I suggest turning the volume down and cranking up your own tunes for some added fun. You'll be amazed at how well you'll progress from her 1 mile to even her 3 mile workout. Try it you'll love it!
  14. A tongue scraper sounds like a great idea! I thought I had thrush for a moment there and should have ran out and bought one then. Talk to me about cheating!! Mind you I'm just about 3 weeks post op and on the "pureed" food stage. Friday night I ate the tops off of 2 small slices of pizza. Although I didn't have any physical problems from eating that, I feel guilty as heck! It smelled heavenly and I was drawn like a moth to a flame. I know I have to get a grip and stop these moments of weakness. I've got this awesome tool now I just need to learn to use it correctly.
  15. You are awesome! I love your realness and you provided a fresh perspective on working this new tool. Congrats! 150 and Fabulous!
  16. Ok, sounds like your in a really bad place. You've got to get out of your head. It's really going to be ok. One day I woke up and felt 100% better. I think if you can't tolerate much you should definately try some popsicles. Crystal Light makes a tart raspberry or pink lemonade thats not too sweet and might just do the trick. Also unsweetened applesauce was a lifesaver. My diet plan didn't have any protein in it at all for the first 14 days so maybe don't worry too much about that part either. Put some lemon in your water to jazz it up and just take several small sips. You need to be gentle and patient with yourself!
  17. Haven't lost a single pound in 5 whole days!!! Super disappointed and trying to figure out what I need to do. Maybe I need to monitor my calories because that's something I'm not doing now. I figured I couldn't possibly be getting in that many with such small portions and no sugar. I'm not even eating very many carbs. Today I'm going to be much more diligent and see if it pays of. I've only lost 15 pnds in the 18 days since my surgery and that's making me feel a bit like a failure. Is this normal? I even feel weary that this was the right choice. I'm doubting myself and hate that feeling. Any advice from some sleeve vets would be greatly appreciated! I'll be back to work next week and I'm hoping once my focus shifts from something other than my weight I'll start to feel fantastic again.
  18. I can totally relate to you on many of these activity goals. No matter how simply they are it's important to people like us to be able to do them. One of my activity goals is to simply walk around the whole Galleria mall without sitting down to rest or feeling exhausted and like I'm going to pass out. Sounds like your headed down the path of success and you'll be doing these activities in no time. Much luck to you!
  19. Thank you so much for this information. I've been following your story and you have had great success that I can only hope to duplicate. In looking at others stories it seems the diets stages are so varied that I don't know which way is up. I want to be an ideal patient and follow my instructions to the letter, but I honestly feel like the restrictions are stressing me. I don't really feel like I have a meter on what my new little stomach can handle.
  20. Got to start my pureed food stage today and thought I could just throw a hamburger pattie in my fancy dandy food processor. Added some broth and a wee bit of mashed potatoes in hopes of smoothing out the consistency, but no go. There's still a grainy texture that I can't smooth out no matter how long I puree it. Any ideas? What protein besides beans puree well?
  21. That's really fantastic! Congrats!!!
  22. Very excited for you. This is an amazing time for you and I'm sure your recovery will go really well! My thoughts & prayers are with you.
  23. Got the ok from the nutritionist to progress tomorrow to the stage 3 diet which is pureed foods. This food stage puts a heavy emphasis on protien an my care provider does not advocate protien shakes at all. Now I'm completely frighted that I'm not going to be able to bring myself to eat pureed meat. Just the thought of it repulses me. Dang it! So many head games that I can honestly say I wasn't prepared for. Did anyone else struggle with pureed foods?

Thanks so much for the support! I'm 12 days out and after 14 days I can have pureed food. I did well 2nite. Stayed away from the mash and had lemon yogurt instead. Blah. In reading other's post I'm noticing the food stages and time lines are widely varied so I'm wondering if the surgery is so new that there aren't any hard and fast rules. I just need to make it thru the rest of the evening and tomorrow will be easier since I'll only be a day of away from some wonderfully delicious pureed food. Yum!

I have to know if anyone out there has cheated on the full liquids/stage 2 part of the post op diet? I really can't take one more serving of pudding, applesauce, yogurt, or cream o' wheat. I'd kill for something savory. The hub is making mashed potatoes with his dinner tonight and not sure how I'll refrain from sticking a spoon in!! Tomorrow the nutritionist will be calling and she's a joyless souless hag so I definately can't ask her about progressing my diet sooner than recommended. Help! I know it's only a couple of more days but I feel sad and verging on the edge of depression. Just can't get my head in the game.
