  1. What? If my husband were to express anything more than his own desire regarding my working or not working, I'd express shock and disbelief right back at him. This is MY decision, not HIS. Together we discuss our plans and how they work for the family. Any spouse who had strong feelings one way or the other wouldn't be a spouse of mine for long. (And in fact, he wasn't. )
  2. Just one that pops to mind is a medical provider who is also a patient and wants to maintain privacy. Who cares? To ME, every identity is taken at face value until and unless the posting behavior is troublesome. I really don't want to continue discussing this, and it's way past my bedtime. I'll leave you all to it. PLEASE try not to break any rules tonight, huh? Thanks, gang.
  3. I can think of a couple of honest reasons people might want multiple accounts, frankly. It's trollish behavior that's objectionable to me, not just the having of two or three names.
  4. Thanks, TommyO. Sleep tight.
  5. Hi Telly, Please refrain from commenting about other members' posting styles. We've seen where it leads: nowhere good.
  6. Dody, I was actually moved to make my comment by your suggestion that Vines is a troll. And you're right--you're completely entitled to your opinion. If you honestly believe I play favorites there's precious little I can do to change your mind.
  7. Dody, I don't want to have to lock this. Please stay away from personal comments and accusations.
  8. You're right in that they should accept the copay, but they've probably been burned lots of times by other carriers' deciding not to cover even the initial consultation if the surgery is ultimately declined. You could refuse, argue, or even report him to the carrier if you want. My gut reaction is that they're just tired of fighting with carriers and this is their way of making sure they get payment. It's not illegal or anything, but probably does go counter to the carrier's rules. So it's up to you to decide if you want to argue with him about it. If your carrier DOESN'T pay his office visit charge, you'll have to pay it anyway. If they do, the claim should be settled quickly and you'll get your money back. If it were me, and my doctor's office asked me to do this, I'd probably agree because I really wanted them as my doctors.
  9. I must be one of the reasons for the rumor, then. I didn't have a preop diet of any kind, and was only on liquids for a week. One thing's for sure, anyway, it's not lack of calories that's causing it now!
  10. This is me, too. And I feel the same way about Dunkin' Donuts' balls of sweet mattress stuffing. Jacqui, what you describe sounds AMAZING. Thank goodness they don't sell those at Dunkin' Donuts!
  11. You can't always tell the difference. You should call your doctor and discuss your symptoms with him or her. Slips are a lot less common than overfills (or spontaneous tightening, which can happen weeks after a fill), so it's LESS likely to be a slip than something else. But you should definitely call your doctor and have it addressed. A small unfill can often help right away, and since you're right on the heels of a fill I'll bet that's what you need. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!
  12. Well, what are your doc's instructions? The party line seems to be that we need 60-80 grams of Protein. You should indeed drink 64oz or more each day, but it doesn't all have to be Water. Take 4 16 oz bottles of some (calorie-free) drink that you like, and I'll bet that won't seem so intimidating. And if you're hungry, have a snack! Concentrate on protein first, then veggies, and last carbs if you have room. Pay attention to your tummy and listen when it tells you you're no longer hungry. It's not always easy, but that's the way it works.
  13. So Jacqui, do you think the anaesthesia I had for an endoscopy could be the reason for my recently receding hairline? It wasn't exactly "general" anaesthesia, but I was knocked out for a short time.
  14. It's funny this should come up again tonight. I swear, I am losing a little bit of hair now! (I am almost three years post-banding, so this has nothing whatsoever to do with my surgery or weight loss.) All I can think is that it's related to the anaesthesia I had in March. I'm not doing anything differently--if anything I'm eating more and greater variety since my unfill, so nutritionally speaking I'm better than ever. The weird thing is that this happened after both my children were born and after my banding surgery. (It's come back each time, no worries.) But childbirth didn't involve general anaesthesia--can epidurals do the same thing? Maybe I'm just the sort of person whose hair falls out at every opportunity. But I'm not worrying about it--someone said once that by the time you notice it, it's growing back. And that has so far seemed to be the case with me.
  15. Let's see. 22 lbs in 6 weeks is almost 4 lbs a week. You're doing phenomenally well! If you don't lose another pound for the NEXT six weeks you'll still be doing well for a bandster. Let's see, the basics. You must have some information from your doctor, so follow it. Basically: eat slowly, chew carefully, put your fork down between bites and see if you feel the last bite going down. STOP when you feel satisfied. Drink lots of Water, but try not to drink for an hour right after each meal (it will just wash the food through and you'll get hungry again sooner). Those are the basics. What else do you want to know?
  16. Adult language isn't against the rules, per se, but do try to keep it rare. We try to be family-friendly. :biggrin1:
  17. Hi Andrea! I'm a North Jerseyan myself. Welcome! Always glad to see another Garden Stater joining the band. If you had insurance coverage for surgery, may I ask who your insurance carrier was and whether you had a hard time getting it covered?
  18. Benefiber is NOT a bulking laxative, so Ceparano, I don't know what your doctor's objection might be. It's other things like Metamucil that bulk up internally. Benefiber and its cousins are recommended by my doc's nutritionists precisely for this reason.
  19. Dody, the threads have been deleted. And sure, we may have have "had all day" but we were out living our lives. (You do know we're not paid for this, right?) And last, please stop throwing insulting labels around; we don't want to have to lock this thread too.

  21. Sherri, can I edit the title of this thread so it's clearer? You mean port, not post, right?
  22. All three threads being discussed here have been deleted. Can we stop talking about it now? And Dody, the moderators are constrained by rules just like everyone else. It takes TWO mods to decide a thread should be deleted. Any individual mod is not empowered to just delete a thread. Leaving one there does not mean a decision has been made to leave it, just that we haven't had a chance to discuss it yet. Please don't accuse us of playing favorites. That simply is not what is going on.
  23. We ate almost a whole melon yesterday, just me and three little girls. Urp!!
  24. Clothing NSVs are the best. I'll be happy if I never leave size 16, because it's a normal-person size. Congratulations!! I had a little one today. I went into a J. Jill store that was having a sale, and walked out with several things in various sizes to try on (I don't shop there, normally, so I don't know how things run). The size 16 shorts fit and one of the L shirts (the other was too short). I also had a pair of linen pants I'd eyeballed, and when I tried them on they were great in the legs but a bit too snug up top. Turns out they were an L!! That means if I can find them in an XL they'll actually FIT!!! This probably has all you regular-size folks rolling your eyes and wondering what all the fuss is about, but after a lifetime of squeezing--if I was lucky--into the very largest sizes any store carried, this sort of experience is totally novel.
