  1. Taking pictures is important! I bought a dress just for the heck of it, and it actually looks nice. I compared it to my August Photo and couldn't believe the progress! I mean, i saw the 26 pound difference on the scale, but the pictures made me realize that it's actually moving along. Good luck!
  2. i'm 6 weeks out and during week 5 i noticed that some days i could ALMOST eat alot. I eventually feel sick and stop. I've associated it with my missing TOM, i should've gotten it, but it's M.I.A. GYN said it's most likely due to hormones and weight loss. I'm feeling restriction and less hunger this week. I'm not too sure i want a fill because i've been doing well without one so far.
  3. I am so sorry to hear that! I hope everything turns out well for you. I had one incision get hot and get a puss filled bump. After 2 days it popped, it was also a puss and blood combo. It might have been related to my port because it was on that side and it happened after my port area got red and swollen. I never sought direct care for it though. I went to the surgeon 2 dys after that and the surgeon said my incisions were fine.
  4. Thanks everyone... i go in on MONDAY!!! I'll come back and let everyone know how it goes with the band. -fingers crossed-
  5. Nuvaring literally made me sick. I fell in the low percentage chance of side effects. One side effect is Lung infection... I don't know how, but once it was out... after about a week or so i was better. It was the weirdest thing EVER! It also made me VERY dry.
  6. Well MY Seminar was May 18th, my consult was May 25th, Inbetween i did my required testing and my paperwork was submitted on June 12th. I was approved for srugery a month later on July 12th. I could have had surgery the next week, but i opted to have it on August 15th, 2011. So it could've been 2 months total, but i opted for a later date making it 3 months.
  7. screw the chart... im sorry, but i am not going to go from a 299 porker to a 135 stick. That is not ideal for me. I am one who does not physically mind being big (being Puerto Rican and having a lot of the weight in my lower portion), but i'm getting the lapband because this weight has begun to take a toll on my health. I have seen people who lose too much weight and look unhealthy.. almost sickly. My goal is 170. I know what i look like and feel like at that weight. It's good to make these goals, but to also keep in mind that you can MODIFY them! Good luck to everyone!
  8. That is just crazy! Hey, for anyone who has drank with the band... how long after surgery did you drink? I'm getting banded on Monday... just wondering?
  9. Good luck hun, I go in on the 15th... it is nerve wrecking!!!
  10. August 15th here! I'm so excited!!! :willy_nilly:
  11. August 15th here! WOOHOOO!!!
  12. Thank you ladies!
  13. I see, that I can understand. There's some people that are a year or so out and they complain that they can't go out with their families because they can't resist temptation. some rant about it not being fair for their family to do things that they can't participate. I understand wanting your family to be aware of your boundaries, but they are entitled to do things they want. My little cousin lost 100+ pounds with just a change of diet and excercise. He lost all of that weight while still being around the family on special occasions. sorry, i took it in a slight different direction. It's just a pet peeve i've developed.
  14. do not deprive yourself! You can always make adjustments to the meals when you are with others. sorry, but it really grinds my gears when people say that they can't enjoy the time with their families over food!
  15. Sooo... as I am waiting for my surgery approval I realized that I could very well end up being allergic to the band. I say this because my body is sensitive to EVERYTHING! How do I know if im allergic to the material that the band is made of? Has anyone shared this concern? is there a difference in the Lapband or Realize band just incase I end up being allergic to the Lapband? Blah... freaking out. my surgery status says "pended".
