  1. I'm so looking forward to getting sleeved and having that "clarity" that you're talking about. It seems that once you can get a major issue/hinderence in your life cleared up, you can focus on how to rearrange everything else to better suit you. I'm excited for you, I can feel your positive energy in your post. Congratulations!
  2. Thanks for sharing nraeh! Your post just made me all warm on the inside. Sounds like your surgery has brought you and your hubby close together too! My poor hubby is dreading the shopping that is going to take place once the pounds begin to drop!
  3. Only HALF the man you were a year ago? What a loser! (of course I meant that in a GOOD way!) Congrats on all your success!
  4. Rick, I can so visualize that scenario in my house! My hubby is definitely gonna have to play portion police with me too! And what is her surgeon's name? Any doc that prescribes filet mignon is alright with me! Thanks for the tip about the scale and the portions. I've already told him that its time to purchase some smaller plates and utensils, but I can see how the scale will be beneficial to me in this process.
  5. Thanks Kemo! It would be awesome if your wife blogged about goin through the experience with you...kinda get the experience through the spouses eyes...
  6. My hubby is awesome and supportive, however, he's the type that just likes the "meat". He did attend my info session and was at ease when he heard what the procedure entails and asked a few questions of his own. He's awesome, but definitely does not have the patience to read through the forum and all it's posts, hence the reason I asked for the vets to give me a few pointers that I could share with him on this thread. I'm gathering from the posts above that he should prepare to be very attentive and ready to take on most of the household stuff, which we already figured. I didnt think about the weight restriction thing, I'm gonna have to explain that to my little one when he wants me to pick him up. Did anyone have mood swings? How soon did you get back to your normal sex life? I'm sure these are the kinds of things hubby would like to know....
  7. I was discussing my surgery with my awesomely supportive hubby this morning, and he asked me to give him a list of things that we will need to do, know, or have after I'm sleeved on October 18th. He understands that I wont be eating much and will only be having liquids right after surgery but he wants to hear first hand from someone who's lived it. Any tips and pointers for him you could give are greatly appreciated! I'll be showing him this thread later on tonight, hopefully there will be some great suggestions and info for him to have so that my post op days go by nice and smooth!
  8. I loved the Nana with the boobs too...had to have her shake what her mama gave her for us Octeez!
  9. My surgery is a week from yours, so you'll be able to give some real pointers before I go in. This is all so very exciting isnt it? (((((hugs))))
  10. I totally agree with the money thing. Publicity and money will make a person do a lot of things, especially if they're feeling hopeless. The more press and attention she gets, the more monetary opportunities she'll receive.
  11. My actual birthdate is December 5th, but you better believe that next year I will be celebrating my life TWO times. October 18th will forever be a celebratory day for me. My coordinator called me and told me the news last week and I've been playing 1018 for the past couple of days. It hasnt hit just yet, but its definitely going to be one of my staple lotto numbers too! I officially started this process at the end of June, so it's only been 3 steady months, but it feels like I've been chasing this surgery forever. I'm happy that it's almost here and am continuing to prepare for it by doing my pre pre-op diet (self prescribed). I'm not doing liquid shakes or anything, but I'm exercising and paying close attention to what I've been consuming. I probably wont lose a ton of weight until I begin the official liquid diet two weeks before my surgery, but I'm hoping to begin the process of conditioning my mind and body to welcome this new change. I'm no longer drinking with my meals (ugh, it's so hard), and I'm upping my Protein and cutting back on carbs (ugh, that's hard too!). I'm satisfying cravings by having very small portions, and it seems to be working. I hope to lose at least 5 lbs before my pre-op liquid diet since that's what i gained during this process. If I can lose those 5 and get back down to 250 in two weeks, I'll be satisfied. I salute you my fellow October 2011 sleevers! I look forward to sharing this experience with you! We rock! :bananapowerslide: :Banane09: :Banane20: :party4:
  12. Sorry things went as you expected, I'm the "hopeful" type as well. The good news is that it's out there. You dont have to disguise or hide your new lifestyle, and eventually they'll get over it once they see the change in you physically as well as mentally. Stop second guessing yourself. Just because you're the baby of the family (me too!) doesnt mean you arent capable of knowing what's best for you. This is your time to be selfish. Have your surgery and recover without care or concern for what people think. Doing that will just hinder your healing and make it harder for you to concentrate on what you need to do to lose your weight and become accustomed to your new life! I wish you all the best! (((((hugs))))
  13. You're thinking like someone who wants to succeed. Dont give up now, it'll be so worth it in the end! You can do it!

Yayyyy! Congratulations on EVERYTHING - being faithful, gettin some good sleep, holdin down your liquids, extending your recovery time at work, having minimal pain, and losing almost 30 pounds already!
  15. Of course you'll be reading this after you've been sleeved, so let me start by saying CONGRATULATIONS!!! Looking forward to hearing about your experience, and wishing you an easy and speedy recovery.
  16. During my journey one of my biggest worries was that I was gonna have to wait several weeks for an approval from Empire BCBS - EPO (most people are down with PPO). Needless to say, my approval took 6 days. My paperwork was submitted on Monday, September 13th, and my coordinator called me on the 19th with the good news. I also received a call today from Empire to verify who I was and to tell me that I was approved for Surgery on October 18th. *doin a happy dance*
  17. I'm so happy you and your sleeve are working so well together. I'll probably be running to you after my surgery for those "soft" recipes.<div><br></div><div>I am honored to know that I was an influence on you and your decision. I hope you know that your words have been encouraging through our short time together. I'm honored to be your almost-sleeved sister!<img src="http://cdn.verticalsleevetalk.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif" alt="" class="bbc_emoticon"></div>
  18. I have been dreaming of this day for the last 3 months. It played over and over again in my head. My phone would ring, and it would be my coordinator telling me that she has good news for me...I'm approved! It happened exactly the way I envisioned it. She called, I answered, she said good news, and I squealed with delight. Dreams really do come true huh? So she said the next available date to schedule me is October 18 which is fine with me. I have enough time to get my brain and body ready for the change that is about to take place. I dont plan on having a "one last big meal" adventure, as I read a "dos & dont's" post by Lil Miss Diva that helped me to realize that I have to end my fat thinking. Food isnt going anywhere. Theres no need for me to consume it in large amounts before my sleeve, I'll just be making it harder for me to lose weight afterward. Instead, I'm going to try and jump start my body and mind by going on a pre-pre op diet. It's crazy how that one phone call has changed my thinking. I'm walking on marshmallows in clouds of cotton candy next to my silver unicorn and harem of naked men who all look like Idris Elba and Boris Kodjoe. That's how happy I am right now!
  19. I understand you 100%. I've been eating everything in sight, especially since I've completed my tests and am in the "waiting" stage. I keep saying that I'm gonna go on my own pre-op/workout thingy too, but that hasnt happened yet. I just cant seem to get it together. Good luck with the mountain climbing. I'll be here rooting you on with my pint of Haagn-Dasz pistachio ice cream.
  20. OMG, I have to rewrite this letter to my fat once I'm sleeved. This was so on point, I'm smiling and crying at the same time! A dear john letter to my fat. I LOVE this!

Your "friend" (wink wink) seems a little insecure. All you can do is reassure him that you're not gonna go hollywood, you're just going "healthywood". Let him know it'll be to his advantage, because you'll be more open and willing to share new experiences with him that you wouldnt pre-surgery. It may or may not work. If he doesnt trust your friendship enough to understand that you arent doing this to leave him, then maybe you gotta figure out if his stress is going to be a help or hinderance during your transformation time. so far I've only told my husband, and he's so supportive that I cant thank God enough everyday for him. He's secure enough in himself and our marriage to know that I dont have any plans on leaving once I lose this weight, but I do plan to make things spicier than ever with him once I'm physically able! LOL Stay blessed, enjoy the rest of your day! Oh, and thanks for commenting on my blog!
  22. I cant wait to sit in a plastic or folding chair and not worry that it's going to break or sink deeply in to the grass and dirt. I cant wait to stop second guessing myself about everything. This weight takes so much of my self confidence away sometimes.
  23. Lately I've been having the urge to organize and clean everything in my path. Last Saturday I rearranged my closet, drawers, make up kit, my kids closet, their drawers, and washed every bit of laundry that was in sight. Today I reorganized all the file cabinets in my office and rearranged my desk. This may not sound so out of the ordinary to some of you, but for me, doing all those tasks (cleaning tasks) all at once in a fell swoop like that is a rarity. In fact, the only other times I've gotten the energy and gumption to clean so fervently was in those last few weeks of all my pregnancies. There's something instinctual in a woman that gives her the drive to "prepare the nest" when she's expecting a baby. I KNOW that I'm not pregnant, so I'm guessing that my behavior may be because i"m anticipating this surgery. The birth of the new me is coming and I guess I'm just gettin my house and job life in order. Another theory that I have is that this is all stemming from my CPAP machine. My energy levels have improved greatly. Initially I wasnt convinced. I guess I was in denial about my apnea. But I"m so grateful now because I'm able to get things in order and I dont feel as sluggish and as cloudy as I used to. Everything seems to be falling into place. I'm even more ready for this sleeve than before. Just wanted to share my insight and positive attitude with yall. Thanks for reading! Sorry about the typos and/or grammatical errors, it's kinda hard typing on a telephone keyboard sometimes! lol By the way, check out my vlog on YouTube. My channel's name is "Sleeviewonderland". Please comment and subscribe, I'd really appreciate it! Here's the link: My Vlog - Sleeviewonderland
  24. Best of luck! Be sure to give us all the details, but only when you're up to it. So excited for you!
  25. I had the same issue, my bmi stayed just under 39. I was tested for sleep apnea which helped me to become a credible candidate for the surgery. I think it's awful that the insurance companies can deny someone who is obese this surgery because they are a few points short of the required BMI of 40. You have to put yourself at more risk just to qualify, which sounds absolutely ridiculous. I say do what you gotta do to get those ten pounds in. *wink*
