  8. That sounds like the story of my life! My bmi is 33/34 and I'm 5"7. The main response I get when I talk about it is "you don't look that big!"... But they don't realize how much being overweight affects my life and the risks it poses to my future health. It's also hard because I'm so young too. I'm getting banded on July 5th.
  9. Hello! My name is Aly and I'm getting banded on July 5th (20 days!) and I too have a BMI of 33/34. I'm 18 years old, I know that I'm young to be undergoing this surgery, but I have lost and gained weight a thousand times since about the age of 12 and have a family history of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. I'm really excited about it but at the same time I'm nervous because I know how difficult it is (my mum had a lapband in 2008). I'm finding the weeks leading up to it difficult because I want to talk to my friends and boyfriend about it but they don't really get it... It would be great to have people to talk to who are in the same situation! Aly - Hunter Valley, Australia
  10. SW: 97kg H: 5"7 BMI: 34 Banding Date: 5/7/2011 I'm new. Hey! I'm Aly and I'm an 18 year old girl from Newcastle, Australia and I have struggled with my weight my whole life. My family tree is rife with heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity; while I myself suffer from asthma. I know fully well how being overweight could doom me to similar fates. I am sick of letting my weight hold me back and I want my exterior to match the confident women within! I'm just wondering if you guys have any tips or recommendations for the few weeks/days pre-op! Check out my weight loss blog here: Tumblr Thanks in advance! ♥Aly
