My doctor required me to stay overnight after my lap band surgery. He did not request pre-certification from my health insurance company. The company approved a number of after surgery monitoring hours, but not the overnight stay. Does the doctor's office accept payment received as payment in full, or will they ask me to pay the difference? Insurance is Fed Employees Blue Cross.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago. We were given information about medical jewelry. Is it necessary? Can not having it cause an EMT or Doctor to harm you unnecessarily?

I drink MML. I was just banded 3 weeks ago. I have two shakes a day and one meal. It's perfect.

I had the lap band procedure with hernia repair two weeks ago. The follow-up appointment with my doctor is tomorrow. My job considers the hernia repair a complication, and will allow extra time off work. What's the best was to communicate to my doctor that I am not ready to return to work. I don't know him that well, and have never been in this situation before.

I can hardly believe that I decided to pursue the lap band in late January of this year. I am so thankful that I'm living during a time when this option is available to me. I followed through with everything that was asked of me by my doctors. I was even skeptical when the doctor's office called to schedule my surgery date, as the doctor's office handled all my insurance issues. I was banded on 6/27/11. It seems like my life began again this year, even though I will be 50 years old in September. Looking forward to the rest of my journey and a new way of life.

My surgery was 6/27/11 . In the beginning, I did sleep every couple of hours. I spent one night in the hospital, and walked around the neighborhood the day after I got home. The day after that, I was at the mall. Following the eating plan, and taking my meds. Good luck. Let us know how you are doing.

Hi there. I'm 49, and had surgery on Monday 6/27. My aunt came to take care of me, and She and my daughter can't believe how well I'm doing. Came home on Tuesday. We walked around the neighborhood. Yesterday, we went to the mall. My stomach still looks like it's bloated tooand I still haven't been hungry. I also lost about 4 lbs on the pre-op diet.

I met two nice ladies in our hospital bariatric surgery class. We would like to get together after all our surgeries are complete. Any suggestions for things to do besides "lunch" or walking in the park?

Enjoying the thread, but feeling kind of sad. Some of the wonderful things people are describing, I haven't experienced during my lifetime. :-(.

You will get so much information at the seminar. Maybe someone who has had the surgery will speak. If they do, they'll tell you about their experience, and show you a "before" picture. the doctor in charge of the seminar will give a general overview of the procedure, and what to expect. They gave out questionnaires before the seminar. I completed my questionnaire before the evening was over, and they scheduled an appointment with the doctor within the next week or two. All of the people in the doctors office were so nice and helpful. I never did anything, but follow the directions they gave me. I could call them at any time with questions or problems. I went to the seminar the first week in February. My surgery is scheduled for Monday. I never even had to deal with the insurance company. They did everything. Good luck to you.
