Seems to me you have made a lifetime decision to be with your husband and now you want to make another decision which will ensure that that lifetime is long and healthy. Gaining control of your weight will make it easier to conceive if that is your plan. Tell him that you need to change this part of your life and that he will benefit.
My husband is my greatest champion and I hope that yours will be too.

Do get at least one support person in real life. My husband's my champion. We exercise together, even though he doesn't need to lose weight. He points out when my clothes are getting baggy, celebrates my scale and non-scale victories, and openly tells people how proud of me he is. I started this journey for me but it makes such a big difference to know that he is on my team.

SageTracey got a reaction from workinprogress0180 in Lap Band Surgery On 28 Dec 2011. Any Advice?
Good luck with your surgery. My advice would be that you must not expect too much too soon and you must not expect the band to do all the work for you. You will struggle with the liquids and mushy phases, you may regain a little weight shrinks go back onto solids, you will feel as though you can eat anything and wonder why you even got this band. But you will eventually get restriction after a number of fills and if you are following your Dr advice, you will enjoy success and lose weight.

My first goal was to get under 100kg - done! My next goal is to wear a size 14. Currently at size 16-18 on the bottom, 16-14 on top but this time last year I was squeezing to get into a 26 so am well on my way! My other goal is to get off my last blood pressure tablet.

SageTracey got a reaction from Dulci in What Was The Deciding Factor To Finally Lose The Weight?
It was surprisingly simple for me. After making all the excuses in the world to myself as to why I couldn't lose weight, I did a complete 180 degree turn when my husband said he didn't want me to die. I was heading for a heart attack, stroke or at the very least a wheelchair due to being grossly overweight. Now I have to slow down so that gorgeous man can catch me.

Don't wait for tomorrow to start again. Do it right now!
That may sound harsh but the longer you leave it to get started again, the more chance there is that you will have another hiccup.
I speak from experience - oh well, I've screwed up the diet today, I'll get started again tomorrow - and then I used that as an excuse to eat crap for the rest of the day! I was my own worst enemy.
I was banded in April this year and have lost 112lb and I still screw up. This afternoon I ate a piece of chocolate cheesecake at work. Tonight I'm eating out with friends so I could just wait until tomorrow to get back on track. But I'm not going to wait, I have to do it right now. dinner will be a small, healthy choice and then it's exercise time to burn off those silly cheesecake calories. That way I'll wake up feeling good tomorrow and it will be an easier day!
Good luck on your surgery and your journey

Definitely follow YOUR doctor's advice. But for the record - mine has never suggested I shouldn't/couldn't drink coffee before or after my surgery. I drink three cups a day with no ill effects and I have lost 112lb in 8 months.

Hang in there! Just think of your pre and post surgery diets as setting you up for success for the rest of your life. You've made the toughest decision of all, to have the surgery, now just do everything that you can to make it successful for yourself.
I am loving love with my band, seven months, 102lb. This morning I actually jogged!
    Good luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from logie bear in Why Can I Still Eat Without Getting Stuck Or Having Rectriction
Restriction will come in time and possibly with more fills. You said you are eating less than pre-band so that is great. In the meantime, continue practising your bad eating behaviours and when you do achieve restriction, you will be well placed to handle it.

You've answered your own questions - do what your heart and body are begging you to do. Dump the junk food. Make healthier eating choices, get some exercise happening. You know that's what you want to do. You don't even need me to tell you that so just get out there and do it.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in this discussion is exercise. If you are on holidays, sure, there will be plenty of extra food around to challenge us, but we can also get out of bed half an hour earlier and go for a walk, volunteer to take your hosts' dog for a run, take the kids to the playground, explore the area on a bicycle. The band and food are only two legs of our three legged stool - exercise is the third.
Just my downunder two cents' worth!

SageTracey got a reaction from 123crod in People Are Watching Your WL Journey
Now that my weight loss is so noticeable (at 106lb it ought to be!), I find that people are watching what I eat and feel as though they have a right to ask how much I have lost and how I've done it, not to mention how much more I am going to lose! One even had the audacity to tell me that I had started too soon if I wanted to be looking good for my son's wedding next April! What, does he think I am going to fall off the wagon and put it all back on! Thanks for the support (that was my attempt at sarcasm.)
The interesting part is that very few know that I have a lap band. Mostly I don't think it is any of their business, but now I am glad that I haven't told them because I am already getting the pressure about how much I've lost etc. It is starting to move beyond support from some of them. It's almost as though they are waiting for me to trip up. Well, guess what? They are going to be disappointed!
Why is it that people think that obese people losing weight are some sort of public property?

It's the thin woman in me finally get the chance to shine! I haven't become a health nut but I am loving the changes and the fact that I can do more than ever before - so I am doing as much as I can.
I'm not sure what the difference is except that I have made a major investment financially, physically and emotionally in getting the band. If I want to live with any quality of life, I have to make this succeed for me.

I can't imagine eating anything like a burger, even without Buns, just three weeks post op. I was still on mushies at that stage!
Now six months out and I've only had one stuck episode and although my instinctive reaction was to grab a mouthful of drink to wash it down, it had the exact opposite effect and hastened the return process.
Stick with your dr's advice, follow any rules given (cos we all get different rules depending on which surgeon we are with), and good luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from I-wanna-be-a-loser in Fallen off then wagon; Please help!!
Hey Jess, sounds like you need some tough love, so here it is!
You can have excuses or you can have results but you can't have both. At the moment, you have excuses, plenty of them. Lack of time, poor food choices, excuses not to eat right, excuses not to exercise. That's why you've gained and are finding it impossible to lose.
But I suspect you already know all that and you're ready for results. So, here's what you do. Suck it up! You made the decision to get the band. Yes, you had a stumble. Now it's time to get working with your band again. Don't be embarrassed by what a dr or nurse may say or what you think they may think about your gain. They have seen it all before. I'll bet the ones they think worst of are those that don't come back and ask for their help. That's what they are there for, to help you.
Can't afford it? Another excuse. Sell some stuff on ebay. Save up the money. Talk to your dr's office about paying it off. You want this badly enough then you will find a way.
Now the support. You have definitely come to the right place on these forums. We are all here because we have battled the obesity demons. We understand your feelings and this band community will be here to support you as you get kick started again and work your way through this tough time.
Hang in there. You can do it!
    Good luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from Bertie in no motivation! gained weight!
It's time to stand up for yourself, remember why you started this journey and what you wanted to look or feel like when you reached your finish line. Think about how you felt when you were at your heaviest and then how you felt at your lightest. Which did you prefer? Why? Can you remember some of your NSV's and how great those moments make you felt? Take one step forwards and you are back on your road to success. Don't wait for tomorrow to start, do it right now. Decide to make a healthier food choice or take that first exercise step.
You know you want to do it. After all, isn't that why you posted here?

SageTracey got a reaction from us plus 3 in Cathartic clothing clean out
This weekend I cleaned out my cupboards and wardrobe. Three bags of fat clothes are now on their way to the op shop. I found heaps of clothes that I have been saving for when I lost weight and now I can wear most of them. I've still got some clothes to shrink into but I can see myself wearing them really soon.
it feels as though I have said goodbye to fat me and hello to getting slim me and I love it!
Next achievement is to get under 100kg and start wearing that new gold watch I've bought to mark reaching that goal. Just 10kg to go.

SageTracey got a reaction from Phranp in To Tell or Not To Telll....That is The Question
Telling others is a really personal decision. I made the decision with my husband to have the surgery and only told our kids plus my mother. I felt they had a right to know that I was having surgery just in case something went wrong. Later I told a very close friend and then two others guessed. I don't want to lie to my friends so I confirmed their guesses but asked them to respect my privacy, which they have.
I have battled with my weight since my teens so my sons have never known me as anything other than fat, with a bit of yo yo up and down. My eldest son is getting married next year and is trying to lose weight before then. I was shocked and quite upset when he told me this weekend that I had taken the lazy way out! Needless to say I pointed out that I must still manage my diet and exercise and that WLS is no lazy way out becauseI have tried everything else and need a tool which will help me to make a permanent lifestyle change.
I don't regret telling my son about the surgery, but it just reinforces my belief that it's my body, my health, my choice and I don't want to be justifying my decision to people who haven't done the research, haven't been through it and often don't have a weight problem anyway!

Hey, that really sucks! Good luck with getting it fixed. I was banded 13 April here in Australia and have enjoyed really good weight loss (60lb) until the last week or so, now it looks like I have plateaued. I am just pushing on with monitoring my diet and exercise and hoping that I will start losing again soon. I have good restriction so am fairly confident (but still suffering the nerves of, "oh, what if this is all there is for me!")
