Kaiser Richmond/kaiser South San Francisco Gastric Sleeve Brothers And Sisters!
My post op phone calls were with Robin. She basically just wants to know how you are doing, how much water you are drinking, what exercise you are doing, any nausea or vomitting. Things like that. Let me tell you though, I thought pureed was much worse than full liquids! I got to eat an egg over medium today and I was so happy for real solid non pureed food! I had my month check up today and all was well. So I will be on soft foods for 2 months. I eve went shopping today. Fit into a 16 jean and an xl top! The jeans are a tiny bit snug but I will shrink into them! I couldn't stop grinning while trying on clothes! It was great!

I'm curious for the different ages on here

BAY AREA KAISER
LI had surgery at kaiser richmond with Dr. Baggs. Everything went wonderful. I have my 1 month follow up appt tomorrow. I have lost 28 pounds since surgery on dec 13th. After researching the band I decided that there were too many complications and I did not want my intestines rerouted so that left out rny. I went back to work after 2 weeks but I was really tired so did half days the latter part of the 3rd week. Each day and each week I am feeling better and better. There is a kaiser thread under general sleeve discussion with people who have been to richmond or south sf. You should check it out. Good luck!

Wow! You have done really well! I had my first vomitting episode on Saturday because I ate too fast/too much. Ugh. I felt horrible after. Eating slow is something I am trying to work on. Sometimes its easy and sometimes I just want to gobble up my 1/4 cup of food! I have my first checkup this Friday and should get to start on soft foods the same day! Yay! Pureed foods is no fun!

Yay! I'm glad everyone is doing well! What a way to start the year! I took my pain meds for about a week. At least at night, I had a hard time sleeping for more than a couple hours at a time.

Something nagging me
I eat chicken and turkey on occasion before I had my sleeve. No red meat at all though. I don't normally like eggs too much either. I was a little concerned with my protein as well especially since my kaiser doesn't approve of protein shakes. So far chicken sits heavy in my sleeve, when I have done pureed chicken salad, but egg salad pureed was fine. I have had a little milk and did not have any problems. Yogurt and greek yogurt went down easily also. I think that you will do fine. It just takes time to find out what works well for your body.

Anyone else have a runny nose when full?
My nose runs as well. I am not sure why but know that it is my full signal. Once it starts running I can't eat anymore.

I am so glad that you are doing well! The shower does feel amazing! Try sleeping in a recliner if you have one. For the first 4 days I slept in a big comfy chair with an ottoman. With like a million pillows. That was the only way I could get comfortable.

Beginning week 3
I have heard it is very common to have a stall around week 3. I was sleeved on dec 13th so I am just one day ahead of you. For the last few days I will lose weight every other day. Our bodies are still processing what we did to them. Try taking your measurements. Some say that inches will fall off during a stall. That way you are still seeing results. Be patient. The weight will come off!

coughing and pain 3 weeks out
I was coughing pretty regularly early out. It helped clear my lungs of all the gunk. It hurt but seems now its a sharper pain. The sneezing is something that has only been happening for a few days. Cold medicine would help, I didn't want to take any though!

coughing and pain 3 weeks out
So I am 3 weeks out and am getting a cold. Coughing and sneezing hurt my stomach near my large incision more now then the first 2 weeks after surgery. Is this normal? I'm a little bit of a hypochondiac so bear with me! Thanks!

Mushies already? (1 wk post op)
Clear liquids consists of jello, popsicles, broth, water, cystal light and things like that. Anything that you can see through counted for me. I loved popsicles during that time...still do! I think tiffykins said that she melted a popsicle and it was 3-4 ozs which counts towards your fluids.

Mushies already? (1 wk post op)
I was able to have yogurt, cream soups no chunks, pudding, thin cream of wheat after 3 days. For me that stage was called full liquids. Anything without chunks or pieces that slides off a spoon counted. I fell in love with butternut squash soup during that time.

She has dr. Baggs. I was suprised as well. Though when I had my surgery I got there early around 10am, I was suposed to be there at 11:20, well they had a last min cancellation so they prepped me right away and my surgery was at 11 instead of 1pm. It was crazy! Good luck tomorrow!

2 weeks post-op // worried about a few things
I am three days ahead of you. I had surgery dec 13th. I have been exhausted but my doc says that's to be expected. I understand how hard it is to get all the water in. I carry around a water bottle everywhere I go. That has helped but I am still not getting 64oz in. But I'm working on it. Make sure you are taking your vitamins as well. I had a pureed avocado and it was awesome. Plus I started drinking vitamin water. Don't know if it will help but I was willing to try anything to get some energy. I am not suposed to have protein drinks so I can't be of much help with that!

Sleever's Rendezvous...?
This sounds like a great idea! I would love to meet people who have helped me so much during this process. I am in CA, Sacramento actually. Summer is always a great time for a vacation!

I have been good. Though I am still early out. My main problems so far is getting in enough water. I am getting leg cramps and am so exhausted! I know it will get better though. My mom is having the bypass surgery on jan 3rd. I'm nervous for her! Otherwise all is good. Kind of sad not to be going out for new years but it will still be fun, hopefully!

Weigh more leaving the hospital than surgery day?
I gained 10 pounds in the hospital. It took me 2 days to lose it all after I got home.

For the singles out there
Thankfully I am not single...I hated dating! But maybe try to avoid going out to dinner and do mini golfing, movie, coffee or something like that. If that's not possible try to order soup. You can look like you are eating by stiring the soup and fiddling with the spoon. Though your bowl will still look full. Or you order a meal and take bites of everything and then move the food around so it looks like you ate more than you really did. I don't know. Maybe others will have better suggestions.
