  1. Big, sounds okay to me, if its what your dietician recommended. I like cereal alot too and i have that opposite body dysmorphia too i think. i can relate. My dad was a little larger than you. I can relate to that too. Hey..i use an online thing you might be able to use too. Its free. I first heard about it here, on this board but then my nutritionalist said to me out of the blue one day that i have to use it because i live so far away from the surgeon and the nutritionalist, that it will help them keep track of me. SO far its worked wonderfully and allowed me to relax a bit about the diet, Add your activities in there too, its very easy to customize your foods if you eat them different than they provide. You can also enter "Custom foods" if its not on the menus. It calculates how many calories and nutritional info you consume daily, as well as how your activities balance them out, keeps track of your carbs, vitamin levels even water intake. Plus theres a journal page you can put notes for yourself or your nutritionalist to read if there were extenuating circumstances for that day like "i was sick all day so i just ate soup and laid on the couch" or "it was my birthday and i had an extra piece of birthday cake"... its amazingly effective. give it a try. if you make it public you can send the link to your nutritionalist or other friends who are journeying with you. www.fitday.com check it out. im Lizrbit on there.
  2. seriously? i would tell people to NOT WIEGH THEMSELVES after their surgery and until they get on FULL SOLIDS...that way they dont stress over the water wieght and the recovery wieght and just heal! HEAL my little freshly banded children, HEAL..... My freaking family who couldnt bother themselves with comeing when i needed them decided to come AFTER i had the surgery when i was JUST getting onto solids. WHat a miserable time. They wanted to "go out to eat" every few hours (cause thats my families favorite sport) and i would nibble on a smashed potato with enough sour cream and butter to make it puddly. i dont think i would have survived otherwise.
  3. thanks for posting that! i dont have a package like that, i have a lot of other material ive skimmed through, but this is the first time ive read that. I can tell you this, i will remember that. im going in for my second fill in a few weeks, this post will help me remember to be patient. I appreciate you putting it up. its more helpful than you realize!
  4. the answer is yes. there....
  5. so far, fortunately i havent had a lot of that. The few people i see these days, see me at the gym most every morning. Im hoping that will be enough later but i remember that it isnt always. People can be very cruel.
  6. i was 14 when i tried. (it was the only time). I was locked in an unpredictable horror movie where the monster was someone i was supposed to trust, and the person who was supposed to be the hero was too drunk and locked in her own misery to help, even after being made aware. i was 29 before i found a psychologist whod really help me. Not wieght related, not for attention, not successful (thank god) At the time, i saw it as a way to end the movie.
  7. im an energy whore..and i feel better having come out of my closet. I have SOME es bulbs in my house but hate their blue horrible light. I run electric heaters like i need them for life support (kinda do, its below freezing here) and i leave lights running 24-7 in my front window of my business...EVEN when im not here, and EVEN when im not here for three months. Im kinda sorry, but in truth, i would much rather have another electric blanket.
  8. was... i know its been a while and ive talked to you about other stuff since, but i was wondering how you were doing these days with all of it??
  9. hahahahahahaha...thas funny. i had bloodwork, psych eval, ekg, nutri meeting, sleep apnea test, and thats it. Had to get past med history of med supervised dieting, which fortunately i had an abundance of. it was well worth the hoopjumping, and i love my insurance. I was denied twice but it was because i didnt have all the information in one place yet. My surgeons office was EXTREMELY helpful in gathering everything, plus i requested a case manager for help too. it worked out well.
  10. Rockn...you rock, i concurr. what a useful site! ive got it marked to favs so i can go over it again from time to time, and to show people in my family. How cool! thanks for posting it.
  11. BlueGem, I did i did!!! i got my first fill March 19, and flew across the country (6 hours on a plane) March 21st. I had a 1.5 fill in a 10 ccband. i chewed some dramamine an hour before getting on the plane (the chewable kind not regular kind..lol) and i was fine the whole trip. i was on liquids the day of the fill and the next day then moved tomushies the day after. i was eating solid food the day i arrived home. never had any nausea. BUT .... everyone is different. Just wanted to tell you that i did it, same time period too roughly and i was groovy.
  12. yeah baby food bites. I bought a LOT of it in prep for the surgery to burn off pre surg anxiety, and im glad i have it on the shelf in the cupboard in case i have a pb and have to revert back or whatever but ew. when the boys were little i used to give them hienz instant baby food, came dry in flakes just add hot water and those arent bad at all..but they are right, you will enjoy real food blended more. I stayed up the night before surgery, cooking chicken thighs in chicken broth and balsamic vinegar, then blending it with some crackers to make it pasty, then measuring them out in 5 oz at a time and putting them in little freezer safe/ micro safe containers and freezing them. I also made up a batch of tuna helper with pasta and peas and blended that , measuring it too. THey were outstanding, and made great meals. i wound up only using a third of what i made and threw much out when i left the cottage, but it worked well and kept my anxiety levels down. made me feel prepared. for what thats worth....
  13. Noooo its not too late! Welcome abroad!!! do us a solid tho and copy the whole chart adding yours to it at the bottom so that we have a runnin total! cause we are just so achiving and all. thats right, i said it , im braggin, im the woman, wheres my helen ready cd? :::jiggie::::
  14. Going, i thought of you again today. Rent a movie called "singles". has nothing to do with wieght. has to do with relationships and it might be reassuring that EVEN THIN PEOPLE HAVE MESSED UP RELATIONSHIPS!!! my favorite part though is when bridget fonda has the realization that her boyfriend is a self aborbed doof, and she says, "i can just break up with him" and she does, and shes happy. Ooh go watch it, right now right this minute. now. right this second. go get it. its called "singles". go now. report back.
  15. comanche..is that okieland??? i grew up in chickasha. lived in okc, cement, choctaw..good lord..is the dirt still red? did they ever get any trees to survive?

  17. thanks! that was taken one week after my surgery while i was bicycling on the seawall in galveston. I had my surgery in Houston but i live in northern Maine. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! You must be excited!!!
  18. Going Down, has he ever said anything before? How long have you been together? is it like he has never seen it before? was he referring to the incisions or him being uncomfortable with the scars being fresh? Im trying to see it in the best possible light...but to be honest its a pet peeve with me when they know what they are getting into, and you are making things BETTER even, and NOW its not good enough? oh man oh man...a big part of me says "kick him to the curb" and get a new one for the time being let him see you in six months and THEN let him know, that no...his build just doesnt 'do" anything for you...
  19. isnt it strange how dr's differ? it was one of the first questions i asked my surgeon because i dig metamucile and take it about once every other week. he said it wouldnt be a problem and it hasnt so far. I take it. i can see how with more restriction id want it much more diluted.
  20. i havent drank a real soda in over two years. i used to drink diet root beer alot, but since being told not to, i havent, and i havent missed it. i didnt give up coffee on purpose, just sorta came along as part of the plan naturally. I do hot tea (pref earl grey) with honey every morning for my eye opener and its groovy. I dont miss either one.
  21. sheila, have you called your dr? Sweetie i definitely would if i were you, something is amiss if you are doing it every day! especially every time you eat. Call your surgeon or nutritionalist today! THIS MINUTE! right now. right this second... yes i mean right now. pick up the phone. simple call. call now. did you call yet? well why not right now.
  22. squale, i wholeheartedly agree. if you pick up protien shakes it will HELP WITH THE HUNGER BIGTIME. slimfast extra protien, adkins advantage, any of them. Isopure rocks but you gotta get those at a GNC. sleep if you have to to get through the worse if it just wont go away. I found butterball chicken broth, when i closed my eyes, sorta tastes like KFC, if you have a great imagination. You will get through this, and once you do it will suprise you how easilly it was in hindsight! get you some protien shakes and it will help seriously! (plus they will be good to have on hand if you need a day or two on them after your banding) GOOD LUCK!!!
  23. TEACHER!!! i have the answer! the answer is...allow yourself to blow it! i hadnt had anything like what i did last night this whole time, and regretfully i know not to even try doughballs of any kind and to stay far away from the steak (for me its just not worth the effort) and i am liquiding today for the sake and forgiveness of my stomach and my band, so i stepped on the scale this afternoon expecting to be heavier and ... i was two lbs lighter! and this was with a week of NO scale moving at all with regular workouts and limited caloric intake! i think the natural order WANTS us to Celebrate sometimes (just not as often as we were)
  24. hey.. i TOTALLY dig fish and my fav is sushi! But my husband HATES all fish and things that come from a sea, lake or pond... and man they are so right patsy, fish is LOW LOW LOW in calories and HIGH HIGH HIGH in protien!!! For simplicity: I keep on hand an ample supply of Gordons fish fillets, frozen..in the freezer. THey are little square fillets and you can use them in place of steak for bbq's, or dress them up when everyone else is having spaggetti with spag sauce on top and parmesian! I love em and try to eat at least two fillets a day, often more. you can get different flavors, types etc...
  25. thanks was! ill try that next time i do this. (which hopefully wont be for a long time) Girl, lemme tell ya, while i was walking, the ONLY thing that felt better was just bending over to where the top half of my body was upside down. i looked like one of those bobble bird thermometors from when we were kids. my dog was totally confused. whew buddy.
