This first picture makes me shudder. 310 to 240. Same dress, just looks better now! Got a ways to go, but it is nice to see some change! Also, everyone is so motivating. So glad to be surrounded by everyone here. It is so uplifting to have others support each other on such a significant journey.

Yes. Dramatically so.
When I was over 200 pounds heavier, I was pretty much treated like a Leper. I'd get openly mocked in grocery stores, looked at with disdain in restaurants, and pretty much shunned by store clerks. I can't tell you how many times I was ignored when trying to get sales help.
Now, I can go into the same stores and restaurants and be treated like royalty. Sales people trip over themselves to help me (even when I don't need it). Men who would've likely let a door close in my face before now hit on me.
...and this all seriously pisses me off. I'm the same person, with the same personality, and the same worth as I was when I was 200 pounds heavier. The only difference is now my packaging is a bit different.
Fat discrimination is alive and well, trust me.

I have officially lost 70 lbs! About halfway to goal weight, officially.
It feels good, and I am proud of the hard work and life lessons put into this journey.
This site has been extremely motivating. I sincerely appreciate every person who has helped me along the way.

I weighed 333 lbs at my highest (known) weight in 2005. When I began my liquid pre-op diet in Feb, 2013, I weighed 270, and day of surgery was 258. Today I weighed in at 239.5!
The before picture shown here was from about 18 months ago when I weighed about 295 (I have no full-body pictures from my heaviest weight as I avoided cameras at all costs). I remember the moment the picture was taken, and I soooo did not want to be in front of the camera! It's hard to even look at the before picture because I'm ashamed that I ever allowed myself to get in that condition...but I'm thrilled with the work I have done to get to where I am today. It has been work, truly...not just physical work but especially EMOTIONAL work. It's amazing to me how when I became emotionally healthy, the physical health followed!
Since having the lap band surgery, I feel better than I have in years! I sleep so soundly, and I wake up feeling rested! My blood sugar levels are coming down! down! down! Looking forward to the next 60 lbs melting away!

I saw the topic headline and thought, oh great, another bad speller! Good one!

I am 9 months post op- down just 55 lbs but I am working out like crazy! I decided to sign up for a sprint triathlon over the weekend to see how FIT I was compared to the last one I did with all my weight on. I felt GREAT and ended up taking approximately 30 mintues off my sprint distance triathlon! I was SO thrilled- finished 5th in my age division- something I never could have accomplished before my WLS. This really confirms that the commitment to having the surgery and the work afterwards to lose the weight and get fit- WOW- I really have accomplished alot in just 9 months!
I was at my surgeon's office last week- no fill- but he kind of wrote my name down to the side on a piece of paper. I asked him if I was in trouble- he chuckled and said- he likes to keep track of great success stories! That also boosted my ego to hear that!
Just wanted to say that it is alot of hard work- but honestly- look at how this has paid off for me. I feel like so much more of an athlete that I EVER have in my life! Thaks to my WLS and also this website! I love this forum!

I have been thinking about this.i think she needs to try really hard on another plan before choosing band. Good exercise and healthy eating. We all had to go through this and she is so young to do something drastic without really working to change her life first. Just my opinion the band should not be a first choice. You are talking many many years with the band. Not to be taken lightly.
