  2. Thanks Kll, we will take all the grandparents we can get Honestly I was only on my preop diet for a week. My insurance didnt require it and my doctor said it wasnt necessary. I did it only becaues I had read the success of everyone else and since i was so eager to get banded and start loosing, I figured It wouldnt hurt to start. I did loose about 6 pounds that week. I do have a diagnosis of PCOS and have done low carb diets before and actually lost 100 pounds about 3 years ago. I attribute my little miracle to the right timing I guess. Didnt seem like it at first with having the surgery, but now that she is here and healthy I wouldnt have it any other way. I do think it is already helping me get the weight off. Im down 10 pounds from my surgery day weight. Thanks everyone for the sweet words and congratulations!

  4. Thanks yall I was told that they would do the pregnancy test that morning before surgery. I had a nursse who was really stressed and they were short staffed. I honestly dont beleive she did the test. I left the urine in the bathroom like I was told to do, and I remember thinking, she never went in there to test it. But I never would have dreamed I was pregnant, or I would have said something about it. I went through 7 years of fertility treatments before deciding to adopt my son. I never dreamed it would have been a possibility. Ive thought about going back and requesting the records to see if the results are in my chart, but I figure they probably covered their tracks... who knows!

  10. Hi my name is kim. I just came back to this site and posted my first post in 9 months. Then went to read through post and found this one! So funny how this works out! I will paste the message I posted on the main page. Id love to stay in touch with you and we can maybe be a support to one another since going through the same thing!!! Heres my story.... I'm baaaack!!!!!! So I was banded on July 7th last year, and three weeks later didnt think I was healing very well so I went to the dr and found out band was ok, but I was 8 weeks PREGNANT! So yes, I was 5 weeks pregnant when I had surgery. 13 years of never being able to concieve then SURPRISE!!!!!!! Thankfully my baby survived surgery, xrays, lots of test, rapid weightloss, b12 absorption issues and extreme anemia, oh and pre-eclampsia. I did not have a fill after my surgery, because of the pregnancy. It was left with the small amount that was put in during the surgery. I had no problems eating whateer i wanted. I did feel full quicker but also got hungry quick too. After I delivered my little miracle baby, within a day I noticed a huge difference with my eating. I started feeling really full really fast, couldnt eat bread or eggs without getting stuck, and couldnt drink while eating without feeling really uncomfortable. I talked with my OB about it and he said that during pregnancy the blood flow is so increased that digestion speeds up, so that is why I probably didnt have a problem while pregnant. My baby girl is now a month old and I have lost 35 of the 55 pounds I gained. (I lost 35 pounds my first trimester) so I am 10 pounds less than my surgery day weight. I am excited to finally getting to utilize my lapband, but very nervous!!! I have not followed any of the lapband rules, and I am scared I wont have the results I may have had if I had had time to work the band before hand. But I am ready to give it my best. I look forward to seeing my surgeon May 3rd, and hope I will get my first fill and start seeing results.

  12. I was banded July 7th and realized 3 weeks later when I thought I had just not recovered well that I was 8 weeks pregnant. I never got a fill nor did they take out the small amount that was in there. I did loose 35 lbs in my first month post banding. I am 22 weeks now and have gained 6 pounds since i stopped loosing. (I fell like ive gained athousand!) Anyways, we are in similar boats! Good luck and congrats!

  15. Here S/He is! My little raspberry!
  16. Thanks everyone for your sweet support! I called my surgeon and went to see my OBGYN today and sure enough I am 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant. so lets round it up and say 7 weeks My due date is March 22. He did an ultra sound and I got to hear the heart beat already! I just layed there crying my eyes out. I gave up on dreaming I would ever expirence this, years ago. The idea was so far from my mind and before I married my husband (on April fools day this year) I made him promise he was okay with not having any more children. (My son is adopted and he has a 5 year old) He of course said "your not God, so you cant say its impossible" but in my mind It was impossible. I still am having a hard time figuring it out, but have decided I dont have to, its done! Doc said baby is in the right spot, has a strong heartbeat and everything looks good so far! Now just have to figure out how to keep those Vitamins down!!! *Sidenote, I weighed in at 248 yesterday before finding out this shocking news and thought to myself, I will never have to be over 250 again.... guess Im wrong, but im okay with it! WOW!
  17. SOooo... the recovery to surgery has been TOUGH and today I found out why it seems I have been sicker than most people have said they have been. I mean 4 weeks post op most people are excercising and feeling nearly back to normal right? Well I havnt. I have had constant nausea... feel so weak and so tired and have no energy at all, cant stomach much of anything and my gag reflex is super sensitive now.... so I went to see my surgeon today thinking maybe i had a slip.. They did an upper GI and said my band looks perfect. Said maybe its my gal bladder, then jokingly said "or maybe your pregnant." Being that I have tried to get pregnant for the last 15 years and underwent fertility treatments for nearly 8 years off and on, and adopted my son, I start to obsess about the thoughts of being pregnant when someone says something like that. So to stop the insanity in my brain I take a test to prove its negative and get my brain back to reality. So today thats what I did... took 4 test actualy... because one after another they all said POSITIVE! I am in complete and total shock. Based on my cycle this puts be between 6 and 8 weeks pregnant.. which means i was pregnant before surgery! I know they tested me so how is this possible? Havnt been up to much "action" since surgery so pretty positive it was before... I never would have dreamed this is even possible. I gave up on that dream years ago after I adopted my son. But 4 test cant all be wrong can they??? So from what I read its of course not in my best interest to be pregnant now that Ive just been banded, but who am I to argue with a God who has performed a COMPLETE MIRACLE??? I of course have concerns and plan to talk to my surgeon and see my OBGYM ASAP, but figured it should wait till morning... Guess that explains why I have felt so sick..... Anyways, anyone else heard of such craziness?????

  19. Thanks guys for the great information... I went to the DR today because I wasnt feeling any better. They did an upper GI and said everything looks PERFECT. Said it might be my gal bladder and to go to ER if I had any more pain or call them in a couple days if nausea doesnt go away.. then jokingly said "you sure your not pregnant?" Of course after going through fertility treatments for 8 years and 15 years of trying, and adopting my son being newly married and hadnt had any luck, pregnancy seemed impossible. But because of my crazy obsessed mind when someone says that to me, I normally take a test, see that its negative so I wont obsess about it anymore... so thats what i did.. .come to find out I am PREGNANT! 6 weeks pregant actually which means I went through surgery pregnant.... Im in complete and total shock.... I have appt tomorrow with OBGYN and phone call waiting to talk to surgeon already in.. Guess my weightloss is on hold... WOW.. im in shock.
  20. The last few days have been ROUGH! I am 27 post op and since Friday I have felt like Ive been run over by a truck! Between a weird pain about an inch below my sternum, to not being able to eat more than a bite or two, horrible nausea, and a constant headache, My body has somehow pushed through the last 2 week plataue since i started eating mushies and solids again. I lost 25 pounds the first week and a half then NOTHING! But since Friday, with feeling HORRIBLE, I have lost 4 more pounds. Im excited the scale has moved but goodness I don't like feeling like this at all!!!! It started thursday night when I tried to chew one of my nasty Vitamins. They make me sick everytime I eat one, but this time the sick didn't go away. I felt a bit better friday during the day but then friday night It hit me hard! I didn't eat anything I shouldn't have, still mostly on mushy and soft food, and dont remember feeling like anything got stuck. I did sneeze really hard and felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen but thats it.... Oh and I did take a sip of my husbands wine friday night before I realized it was a bubbly one, but it was a really little sip. Not sure whats going on, but will be calling the doc tomorrow if I am not feeling any better. I will take any advice ya have of what might be going on, or suggestions of how to make it stop. Today I was able to get down about 1/3 cup of chicken broth and a couple bites of shredded chicken, and have only drank about 2 bottles of Water because im having to sip a lot smaller than I have been... Yesterday I got NOTHING in, so maybe I'm on my way to recovery. Any ideas?!?!
  21. This post was so very helpeful! Wednesday I will be 4 weeks post op and after loosing 25 pounds 1 week preop and the first week post band, the last two weeks the scale hasnt budged. Doesnt make sense to me either that my calories can be so low and the weight not fall off. I will definetly being trying to up the protein a little more (just so sick of protein shakes) and add a few calories. Thanks for all the words of wisdom and great advice everyone!!!!
  22. I was banded 7/6/11 with no preop diet, but MADE myself indulge one last time and not overeat that week before from preop to surgery. I lost 4 pounds that week and have list 21 since for a grand total of 25 pounds! I get to start mushys today and have noticed this last week doing full liquids the scale has slowed down, but thats okay with me because I have had significantly more energy and I needed it! Time to start movin! Good Job fellow July Banders! So proud of us! Kim
