Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I am having some problems figuring out how to lose a little(20) and stay there. I seem to be able to stay where I am right now.... I have gained 18 and am staying there. I log everything and exercise. I am experimenting at eating more for an extended time without gaining more. I was eating 1200 a day, exercising and NOT losing. I figured my body may be screwed up from not eating much for so long. I have added in about 300-800 a day more, depending on how much I exercise or not. I am staying the same at this.... not gaining from when I was eating 1200 a day. I am sort of following the TDEE plan, eating between my BMR(1600) and my total energy expenditure(2100) or around 1800 a day (which should be my energy expenditure at my goal weight if I continue the same exercise routine. I just think its crazy to weight over 190, exercise and only eat 1200 a day and still gain weight or stay the same! Im seeing if I can normalize my intake. This seems to work for some people who have trained their bodies to live on very little. I still have restriction, and the protein first rule does work for me too. I am eating pretty clean, with planned snacks and still vegetarian. I guess Im in maintenance right now, but hope to s-l-o-w-l-y lose back to where I was at the end of my "honeymoon" a year ago by eating more for a while, then cutting back a little bit to lose slowly. We will see! I am so happy I got the sleeve, but I am not happy having to go up one or two sizes after I gave away most of my larger sizes! PANTS TOO TIGHT!

time to say good bye
I have been here for over two years and I never ran into nasty posters most of that time. Really its been in the last year or less... it only takes a few to change the mood. This site has been so good for me, a few great people really helped me along the way with advice and support. Be who you want to meet on the site, and let the rest go. Understand that some who have been here a long time hear the same questions over and over. Please do a search before you ask. Then you can post specifics on those threads already in play. Im sure I asked the "stall" question at least once, and answered it multiple times. I know it is hell! Lots of the people who are years ahead of you have left the site. Some of them drop back in now and then to catch up, get support, and perhaps lend some insight to being further out from surgery. I really appreciate those that lend their expertise and advice from further out. The easiest part of this process is losing the first year or less... the honeymoon. Losing the last pounds, figuring out how to maintain is an even longer process for some of us. At two years, I have not gotten to my goal, but still happy to fight for it, and better off by far for the surgery. How about a one year stall? IT happens to many. Anyway, just take this time to learn about yourself and take heart with the many people here going through the same thing, some are grouchy or mean, but most are friendly and helpful. We are in for the long haul, and remember what you think is true at 3 months or 8 months may not be true at 12 or 24 months. One day at a time.

This is the direction I have been going in... still need to add some callories( about 150 more a day) and up my weight lifting some, I only do about 30 minutes a week so far!+ dancing twice and walking twice. I eat msotly clean, with plenty of carbs and try to keep my Protein up over 65... need to do more there too...check it out, eating more is good.....so far! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less They like paleo, but want to see a higher carb version it seems... being a veggi, I really cant do it...so mostly keep it whole foods as much as possible.

- Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I tried it before I got the surgery, and no effect for me.- Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
I have increased my calories to around 1750 on exercise days... I have not gianed any, and in face lost about a pound over the last two weeks. I am supposed to be eating even more, but a little afraid.- New lifestyle- Vegan!
I have eaten lacto/ovo vegetarian through out my whole sleeve experience. I am moving a little bit towards Vegan meal by meal.My advice is get enough protein while you are losing. Eating dairy and eggs help a LOT in getting to this goal. I became milk intolerant the first three months after my surgery so went without at that time. You can use whey if you are milk intolerant. If you do not get enough protein while losing, the loss will come from muscle hair and organs... don't want that! I eat/ate soy, gluten, beans, cheese/yog/cottage cheese...whey, nuts and seeds...I missed veggies,(no room) but started making veg soup and getting them in that way. Could not eat raw for quite a few months. I fully support vegetarian and vegan lifestyle, but you need to eat protein for the first year or so.- Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
I feel a little bit up in the air as well, Im not very confident that I can lose any more weight, but I am trying some new and old things...I want to cheer you all on as well though! I will chime in with my journey if anything interesting comes up or I just need to brag or b***h! Its all good. I am so much better off than I was two years ago. (my two year surga versary is on the 18th of Jan) Down 70 pounds. I have never been able to do that before.- Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
I have been looking at this.... Eating to your TDEE (total Daily energy expenditure)This means for most of us eating more. Maybe LOTS more. Here are some vids that talk about parts of it....Myfitnesspal has lots of info on the forums and a link to a calculator to figure out how much you should be eating. Mine said I should be eating 1886 cals a day to lose. (at the exercise level I am at) http://www.youtube.com/user/EatMore2WeighLess?feature=mhee Here is my worksheet, but you can FILE> NEW(on the top of the spreadsheet page) and fill in your own to find out what they say for you. I hear you need to have a google account to use this spreadsheet... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtVTTxJc1RRhdHVqQkdkNjhOLVY4QzBYYzNOQllEQUE#gid=14- Ulcers where they separate the stomach
About the cancer fear, with the sleeve your dr can scope you... not so easy with the RNY. With RNY, a big piece of the stomach is left in the abdomen with no way in to take a look with a scope. There is an increased chance of GERD with the sleeve. Taking antacids all the time make it more difficult for the body to use calcium as well. This being said, what you eat has something to do with it, and the return of GERD to sleeve patients is correlated with weight gain... (perhaps food choices are at least part of the fault in this as well?) I did not have constant acid before surgery, but sometimes did.... used antacids for 6months after surgery, went off of them with no problem. If I eat junk, I may get a little acid... with chocolate mostly! I LOVE the sleeve.- MyFitnessPal
I used fitday for years, just switched to MFP and have to say it is much easier to find food, add food and exercise, and has a great phone app as well. I would get over the learning curve and I think you will be very happy with it. I started using it on jan 1st... it suggests 1200 a day, (no one should be lower than that it says, to get all the nutrition you need) Of course we are under a Drs care the first year... but after that 1200 seems a small enough amount. My prob is after 11 days on this plan, I have gained 2.4 pounds. I will keep it up and see how it goes... I am 192.4, and cant see how eating that little could put weight on! After a couple of years mostly eating much less than that, my body may need an adjustment to eating more. Don't know. I log in with facebook, so need to look into what my MFP name actually is! Best of luck all!- Still Under 30# To Goal- 23 Months Out
About 6 weeks from my last post... same weight. Switched to myfitnesspal, like it much better than fitday. On the 1200 cal ftnesspal plan starting on the 1st, and have gained 2.4 pounds. Got to be water...this will not make me stop... even if this is maintenance, I am so happy I got that sleeve done!- Hair loss blues...baldness
I just bought zinc, will let you know how it works as the "last resort" in the article.- 100lbs GONE!
I am so happy for you! Congrats lady!- Frustrated!
Yes as the others have said, stalls happen. I had a 3-4 week stall starting at 2 1/2 weeks. Look up "3 week stall" there are tons of threads on this! The best advice has been given right here... just keep on going, do not compare your weight loss with others and follow your Drs advice. This is not a race. Cheer up! This is an adventure!- Hair loss blues...baldness
Eat healthy, get protein and take your vitamins. I think color and cut is really all you can do. You body is spending time putting the energy into healing and adjusting... not making that frivolous hair! Try telling it we love our frivolous hair! Notice Im wearing a hat in my pic. I lost about 30% ,and at 2 years it is growing back, but is still 2 inches or less long, and a little thin texture wise. It is STILL falling out as well. Many here have had full hair growback, so I still hope for this. I also went through menopause, so that migth be part of the hair texture thing. No one else has really said anything or noticed...its just me that notices the most. It is still so worth it!- Stalled maybe even gaining 4 weeks out
Really, Im not kidding, This is pretty common. Even if you were eating 1200a day, it is not causing you to stall. Search "3 week stall". The worry is not needed... You ARE "eating like a bird",its your body adjusting to the surgery and rapid weight loss....taking a breath, It probably thinks you were injured and starving! Many have gone through this and gone on to losing massive amounts of weight. Just follow your Drs plan. Also, If you haven't started already, measure as well, you may well be losing inches. I went through MANY stalls over the first 12 months... stalls that lasted weeks. It is common for the body to do this. Just keep up the good work and it will come off.- detox diet post op
Look up Divas Boot Camp... it is a 5 day plan that helps to get off the carbs. (Posted here someplace...)I am using Myfitnesspal.com and following a southbeachy plan at 1000-1200 cals lower carb. I was hog wild over the holidays myself.- How do you know if someone likes you?
Sounds like he likes you to me! I don't know what that may mean... but I would see how it goes... do you like him? You could ask him to meet for coffee or something neutral away from work...low pressure....- Stalled maybe even gaining 4 weeks out
This is a common stall called the "three week stall" Don't freak, your weight will come down after a while. At 2 1/2 weeks I had a 4 week stall. You are not eating enough to gain weight, so deep breath, things will be fine. Get your protein in, and sip sip sip. You need your water. Do not let yourself get dehydrated or you will have to go to the emergency room! It also makes you feel horrible. Logically you have to know you will not stay the same and stop losing forever. Come on girl! You will be fine!- Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
So I have been using fitday.com for years. Maybe 5 years. I just tried one day on myfitnesspal.com... to see how it would go and it is SOOOO much better than fitday, I can't tell you how much I love it! I know some of you guys have talked about using it, but I had no idea how much better it was. I can find the foods I eat by brand most of the time, and the economy of moves it takes to log is great... also a good iphone app as well. It is making it so much easier to log. It has actually made getting back on plan exciting again! Go figure.- I gotta give up gum too?
I gave it up, but now I can chew it again. Just give your tummy a chance to heal up and get back to normal.- I'll show you mine... (LBD's)
