Can't stop losing
I don't think this is accurate... moderation, accountability and yes, sometimes exclusion may be in order for the worst trigger foods..., but eating small amounts of variety in my opinion is the path to health and "normalcy"

Can't stop losing
I am not a Doc, but thought of this when I read your post... Rabbit Starvation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation Others who have had a hard time stopping the loss (not me) here have said eat avocado, full fat milk and dairy and nuts... add a snack or meal.... All low fat protein can lead to starvation.

3rd surgiversary approaching
I know... it just seems ridiculous sometimes! Thank goodness for the sleeve. I feel like I stand a chance with the sleeve in my toolbox.... and the fitbit and my dance teacher, the gym, and myfitnesspal...and a support system... and my sheer willpower? ...sometimes I think thats the smallest thing in my toolbox!

Satiety foods for post goal hunger?
I just want to say, you have done fantastic with your weightloss! Everyones weight loss slows down around where you are. I'm not going to give any advice, because I am still figuring it out myself at 28 months... still have to lose around 18 to get to goal.... it does seem to be heading there..S-L-O-W-L-Y-----(I'm talking a pound every 2 months...) When I started using a fitbit I found I had a better idea of my energy use....easier to balance my calories in calories out....(OOPS! I just gave some advice after all!)

Vets-Do you eat "back" the calories you burn through exercise?
I don't know what to say Globe, my metabolism is pretty un-normal as well. That TDEE plan suggests backing off of cardio to a couple times a week and lifting weights instead.. build muscle, change your shape, burn more calories... its not about the scale as much as the look of your body....and you can eat more (= satisfaction) I need to lift more to really comply...and eat more too... but at this point I am seeing a minuscule drop at the scale, and the way my body looks is changing...so It MIGHT be working even with my moderate compliance...

Vets-Do you eat "back" the calories you burn through exercise?
When I eat back my exercise calories I am STILL eating 500 calories a day less than I burn according to the charts and fitbit.

Congratulations! My dad just started that "fast metabolism" diet... the idea of going on a diet has been a turnoff for me for years... but he is loving it and lost 6 pounds in 7 days... can eat a bunch of food... but many restrictions too. Sounds mostly healthy...

Coping...
It is very hard to rely solely on will power... take the time to prepare, or ask someone to do it for you...... healthy single serving snacks, single serving frozen meals, bottles of water in the fridge, Whatever it is that makes your life a little easier. Best of luck, these times are so hard.

My wagon got a flat tire..
Great story... been there in so many ways. I have a good friend in SC, Will try and make the Elkhorn slough next trip! I enjoy rowing, and have always wanted to try kayaking..even priced out kayaks at one point.....We have lots of sloughs here in the Delta, Sounds like so much fun!

Santa cruz has great birds! In the hills, by the creeks and lagoons.. and the ocean of course...Grab a guide book for California... many of them have a checklist in the back you can check off when you see the bird. Its fun! I went out yesterday along the American River Parkway (in Sacramento) and saw a bunch of birds, squirrels, jackrabbits and a rattlesnake! It was really cool to see and a great walk too.

Hair Loss
I used biotin for a while with no success... Around the time when my hair stopped falling out in handfuls I was taking 50 mg zinc caps...it gave me an upset stomach so I quit after a week.... don't know if this made a difference, but shortly after that the hair loss stopped. I read somewhere that was the last ditch effort for stopping hairloss...after getting more Protein, biotin... I don't remember the rest of the list...I also started eating more calories. Actually, I think this is what did it. My body went out of starvation mode. Just my personal guess there...Perhaps it just took time. I'm not sure if it can be avoided... a few people say they don't have it happen... but many more say they do. Get yourself a great haircut, use a gentle root lift product if you need more volume.I used gentle shampoos and good conditioners and a hair catcher in the tub!

reset is not returning to postop style eating... it is many more calories than post op and much more protean... the weight gain is temporary, and sets up your body to lose weight... see the eat-more-lose-weight link above...it gets you out of starvation mode...that Looooong stall where you eat a tiny bit, cardio yourself like crazy and cant lose....

A reset is eating your full TDEE calories(full energy expended including breathing, sitting around, sleeping and exercising) There is a spread sheet on google I will find for you.... You do this for I think it is 6 weeks...maybe more... until you stop gaining weight and level out. Then you make a 20% cut in calories... maybe less depending on how much you need to lose... and you lose (this is the promise anyway...)VERY slowly. They also want you to cut your cardio exercise a lot, and rely mostly on a weight routine a few days a week. I upped my weights, (from nothing to something...) added calories up to around 1550+ exercise calories(so around 1800 more or less depending) and I did not gain weight. I really needed to go up to 2200 cals to be doing a reset, but I thought it was pretty interesting that I did not gain, even though at 1200 I could gain. I'm sorry Im confusing, I am going my memory here, and may screw up the dates or numbers, but go by my best recollection. Let me find you the pages in myfitnesspal that explains this approach better than I can....Anyway, I think I need to do a reset this summer... I am losing weight now...but so SO slow... which is ok as long as it keeps heading in the right direction...but I do not want to eat less than I do now... I don't see how you can do it girl! 700 is crazy low eating...We have reached in and changed the rules with this surgery, you could not eat 2200 immediately post opp if you tried....So lt looks to me like we have lost weight, and forced our bodies to go into "starvation mode" where we can survive on 700 cals a day... does this look right to you? I cant get enough nutrition to grow my hair on that much food! An anorexic would be sent to the hospital for eating that much! Anyway, I may be full of cr*p... but that is the way I am looking at it now... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/813720-spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-deficit-macro-calcs-hrm-zones calculator- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Amt7QBR9-c6MdGVTbGswLUUzUHNVVUlNSW9wZWloeUE

Hair Loss
I can say, at 27 months, my hair is finally growing back in, and is almost as thick as it was before. It was really falling out hard until just a few months ago. I have a bunch of short hairs sticking out all over, but at the roots it looks pretty good. I dont know why... but glad I got here!

I did a semi reset... (so I guess that means no) I should eat around 2200 cals for a real reset... I ate around 1800 (up from 1200) for an extended time, then dropped to around 1600.... stayed the same... then cut to 1200 plus exercise and have lost a tiny amount. I refuse to cut more at this time... I will wait it out for a while longer... I have added weights twice a week. I may do a real reset this summer some time... I really dont want to gain 8-10 pounds which can happen with a reset.

Vets-Do you eat "back" the calories you burn through exercise?
I eat back most of the calories I exercise away(400+ cals 4-5 days). I use a fitbit, and eat at a 500+ calorie a day deficit from what myfitnesspal and fitbit thinks I should eat to maintain. I find I am more likely to exercise more if I do this, and I can get to a level of calories that leaves me satisfied. I have cut my baseline of calories to try and lose more weight(1200), but I am in the camp that thinks that you can train your body to live on less.. and I just do not want to do that anymore than I already have. Earlier in the year I was eating closer to my TDEE, at around 1600-2000 a day including exercies calories, and did not gain...or lose.

Veteran question about salads
I eat GIANT salads. Tonight I had a salad of around two cups of chopped greens...and I mean heavy greens like kale, herbs, radishes, onions and a handful of grapes. I also had 1/3 avocado and cheese smashed ona half bread roll. The two cups greens is what I ate, there was another cup left in the bowl that there was no room for. I love eating fresh raw food, and seem to be able to get bunch down. This is actually a strategy of mine...filling up on greens and some fruit. I had plenty of protein during the day...I just make sure I log it all... the crunchy nuts, croutons, cheese and such that can go into the salad will add up... I just keep track to make sure I don't go overboard.I could not eat salad for months after surgery, it came back slowly. I can also eat a lot of veggie soup... but that is a slider as well.
