  1. I actually started regaining before I hit my goal. My surgeon did not give me a goal. I finally found what worked to finally get to goal, (to be under 170- I am 5'9" and 60 yrs old) I wear an 11 pant, L top, big bones. I like a lean look too, and do look pretty lean. Although I am happy with how I look and feel now, I could probably lose another 10 to seal the deal (the vanity 10) and am slowly moving towards that but no pressure. I never had a problem with losing too much weight or trying to stop losing... not yet anyway!
  2. Forinda, I think theres a ghost in the machine! ... or you are in crazy town where air weighs more than poop!
  3. Suzie, I am all support for you, whatever you want, I am not trying to be mean or bossy, I just want you to be happy and really realize how great you have done already and not miss out on satisfaction after all that work to get where you are! I want to lose 5 more pounds too, but I am at goal now. That 5 I will play with and not stress about. I'm good. I just want you to realize how good you are too!
  4. Mine did too, had to go back to my surgery info and click Sleeve. Just checkin! Heres the trail to where you can change it, Cheers! my profile edit profile Surgery information Surgery type
  5. That was beautifully said. When I was a kid I was barely fat. The doc gave my mom dexedrine tabs to give me to help me lose weight. I am so happy she figured out I didn't do so well on dexedrine! It was about that time I figured out that something was wrong with me. And looks could make the difference between being OK and not OK. It has taken me years to get off of that idea.... and even now... sometimes.....that was around 1960.
  6. HI Candace, welcome! May I suggest you repost this here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/679-december-2013-sleevers/ it is a December 2013 sleevers forum already in place. I will remove this on as soon as you do, Thanks! Kim
  7. Sound like a good time to go to a Doc and have it looked at. Best of luck with that! I don't know that much about the lap-band,(thats what your label says) so won't be that much help...
  8. Cathy! your a babe! You need a new profile picture, you are much cuter than the one that up now!
  9. For heavens sake Susie! 4/6? When you were shooting for a 10?! I'm sorry, but you can't have them both... 150 AND 4/6. I say so! Can't you just find some peace and live with the 4/6 and don't worry about the 150? You have done sooo well... gotten to at 4/6..... that is awesome! How about focusing on a different goal instead.. like Gman says... perhaps how many steps you can do in a day, or some other health goal, and not just a "vanity" goal. I think you have the looks nailed already!
  10. We need to get some more compliance from people under a year in not posting here. I know its tempting to just join in, but really it is getting out of hand. Everyone is welcome to read, and join in after they reach a year out. There is a reason this is a Vets forum and not an open forum. Please, if you want to ask a question, you can alway message someone, or post in a different forum to get a broad range of answers from Vets and others. Thanks guys, K
  11. Best of luck to you!
  12. Glad to see Globe and Laura back in the "fold" Happier New Year guys.
  13. Of course you can call me Kim! Short answer. The almond milk is fine, just count the calories. Long answer, some people seem to not lose weight on the 5:2, and I would suggest to them to try eating no calories for that 18 hour window. Now that being said, I have half a protein drink in that window and no problem losing, and one of the two people who wrote the book had breakfast every morning, so I think the answer is Do it and count it!
  14. Ha haha, I am the crappiest speller around, and when spell checking " Well, my fast day was proper sh*te... after all the good work over the Christmas holidays, I've tumbled down and eaten like a total fool! I'v eaten proper rubbish all day, snacking monster has broken into my body and taken over! OH well... I will try another fast day, prob be Sunday now... then fit in two next week - *sighs* Feel bad when Skinny called me diligent, when clearly I haven't been today...lol! Thanks goodness for my sleeve mind... cos the damage I could of done!! Maître d'" (- a dining-room attendant) I spelled it "Mater Dei" which means "Mother of God"You can choose which one you want as a title." Mater Dei and the Hostess Cupcakes"... sounds like an awesome girl band!
  15. You little sinner! Isn't it nice to be little?
  16. I'm not a host but I love cupcakes! I'm sure your still the hostess with the mostest!
  17. I think we should call ourselves the "Hostess Cupcakes" everyone on this page is a "host" except Jane, and she no doubt is the maître d.
  18. Cafe du Monde......the powdered sugar runnith over!
  19. GO BACK TO THE TOP! I like it better with an exclamation mark! Makes it sound like the sharks are coming....or I have run out of breath....
  20. I lost quite a bit of weight after 2 years out! It can be done. The first 6 months are the easiest, but don't give up, the sleeve will still work for you later on. I still feel restriction if I do protein first and add a couple of 16 hour "fasts" a week. (eat a early dinner one day, and eat a late lunch the next day causing a 16 hour fast) this helps me to feel the restriction in my sleeve better.
  21. Do measure if you haven't already. I was a very slow loser too... Do you use MFP or something like that to really look at the composition of what your eating? I really need to, or I start to gain. I have had many stalls, non for 3 months*, have you actually lost none in three months, or only a little in three months... ? * Actually, that is not true, at a year and a half out I gained weight, and it took me around a year to get it all off and get to goal, so really, that was a stall-gain on a grand scale!
  22. There are tons of things people talk about taking to the hospital, and really Most of them you don't need. A robe and chapstick are nice to have. YOu get really chapped lips from the opperation. I like the idea of changing the sheets, fluffing the pillows, I found a sippy cup nice for Protein drink and Water by my bed/couch. Your taiste buds will change after surgery, and you may hate things you used to like. You might order some sample protein packs to try out after surgery, then you can order what you like. I found most things too sweet at first. Clear the hall, you will need to walk walk walk, get the mail, around the block, make sure you can get around a bit ever few hours... and don't lift anything! Not for weeks really... so lift what you need now, get down the crockpot or inlist the kids, hubby or whoever to do that for you.
  23. Ever heard of Rabbit starvation? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation I remember hearing about it when reading about the Donner party. ...It is similar to documented cases of “Rabbit Starvation” which is dying from eating only rabbit meat which has little fat. Thus the Donner Party, which was stuck in the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1846/47, resorted to cannibalism when it did little good, that is, after everyone had not eaten for a long time. (Though it should be mentioned some new research suggests they were not as cannibalistic as once thought.) (may be offensive to some) http://www.eattheweeds.com/cannibalism/
  24. I am a vegetarian, and my protein all has some carbs in it. Gluten has the most protein per ounce-104 cals-21 gms pro and 4 gms carbs, but you can't live on gluten alone! During the losing phase, I tried to stay under 100, and now in maintenance I am closer to 175 a day. The trick, I believe is using low glycemic index carbs rather than HGI carbs most of the time. It may or may not be why it has taken me so long to lose, but I did lose to goal and still eat a lot of carbs. If I get into pure sugar and highly processed "white" carbs, I will get the carb monster. Otherwise, not so much. For a long time I thought I might never lose weight because I was not willing to eat meat/fish/foul.... but LGI works as well for Vegetarians.... and protein drinks...
