My surgery was on Dec 21 and I can relate to everything u are saying. I'm struggling myself. Just remember in a week it'll be a new year. U are on the way to a healthier, happier, you! This time next year u are gonna look back on this and realize how strong u are!!! Very few people could do what u r doing, especially during the holidays. We are in this together!!! Hoping each day gets easier for you. I just keep telling myself in a couple weeks, things will be so much better! Plus, we'll be doing so good and all the people that overate at Christmas will be wishing they would've followed in our footsteps!

I don't have any strips either. Just glue like stuff on top. They are still pretty painful and range from about 1/2 inch to 3 1/2 inches. I have a total of 5.

When you can move from Clear Liquids you'll find your stomach much happier! When I was on clears, I was ready to eat my dog, he was just lucky he could move quicker than I.
The first week post-op is rough. You've been through a pretty big trauma (I know people say it is the least invasive WLS, but it IS still invasive surgery!). You are eating nothing with any nutritional value to help your body recover.
I don't know about you, but I was a mess!

Thanks all for the words of encouragement. I think everyday will be a little easier. I think one of the main reasons for my depression is that my Mom was with me! ha I know that sounds terrible. I love her with all my heart but she's a borderline anorexic so that should explain what life has been like with her. My hubby couldn't be with me because he's a cop and couldn't get off work. Her and my stepdad were with me. They came from out of state to go with me. I was glad they were here at first, but was also glad when they left. My dad hasn't been to our house and commented on how messy it was and that he could'nt believe I'd let it get this way. It just stirred a lot of emotions that I really don't need right now.
I'm so glad I've found this site. It's really nice to know there are others out there that are going through similar things. This is not something that started yesterday, and I know it won't be fixed by tomorrow.

that is a lot of pressure to put on yourself. instead of looking at such a big loss, break it down to 5 or 10 lb. increments. it will happen but, is easier to visualize!
you have already done so well, we did not gain all this weight overnight! it can't come off like biggest loser does on TV!!

I was too embarrased to list my only other NSV, but here goes: For the 1st time in a while - my boobs stick out further than my belly LOL

At the beginning of my journey my BMI was 47.4 - as of today, 3 weeks later - it is 44.5!! This is a great NSV for me!!!! I want to be healthy and live long enough to aggravate my children's children

Doing the 2 week liquid diet right now and it's not been bad because I've got a cold so don't feel like eating anyways. lucky me! Surgery scheduled Dec. 21st. So ready for the next chapter of life!!!

Well tomorrow is the day I meet with my surgeon one on one for the first time. I met him at the seminar I went to in September but only since have met with his team. I've seen the Nutritionist, Psychologist and Nurse Practitioner. I have reached their required 5% weight loss goal and continue to lose since I must complete a 6 month monitored diet. So far everyone on his staff that I met has offered me much encouragement and guidance. I just hope when we meet tomorrow my high BMI doesn't shy him away from taking the surgery on. I understand if he does shy away it just means he is looking out for me. But I just hope after all this wait I don't come out of there with bad news.
Monday after Thanksgiving I went in for upper GI, cardiac echo, chest xray, ekg, ultra sound of the liver and blood work. They already told me I was Vitamin D deficient and have given me a prescription to get those levels up. I guess tomorrow the Doctor will go over the rest of the tests. I also attended two nutritionist sessions/classes and had my psych session.

AT Violet 953, new surgeon is actually an hour a way, but was told by a friend about him. Worth driving an hour away vs. dealing with a complete jerk throughout the entirety of this journey.

At Hummingbird, you are right, The 21st is right around the corner! I'm very excited but also nervous! I'm excited for what is coming for 2012!!!

That's awesome! My date is the 21st. I'm very excited! This time next year we are gonna be two hot mommas!!! Congrats again!

I asked for Deloted (sp) 2mg...I take one pill every 2 hrs instead of 2 every four....it keeps me comfortable, not pain-free.
As for the Gasx strips...over priced gimmic....buy the generic pills or chews...they have 2x the active ingredient and cost much less...it will help some, but nothing will prepare you for or solve the post-op gas pain you will likely experience. Just going to have to suck it up I am afraid....
I found a watery cream of wheat day 3+ makes me feel better than Jello or any cold liquid....I will be thinking of you!

Let me guess, insurance paid your whole bill? I self-payed and it really made me value what I had spent the money on...good luck.

My will and advanced directive are done, the dishes are washed, the house is clean, my bag is packed, I had my last meal (waffle with butter)...I am ready.
I am no longer nervous...I am resolute. Tomorrow morning I begin my transformation back to...me.

The scheduler called me today and told me that I am scheduled for February 13, 2012!!!

Wow!!!! This guy sounds like a real jerk. I have been going through this process since July, and honestly it hasn't felt THAT long. 6 months is a drop in the bucket compares to having to deal with this guy for the rest of your life. I say, take the chance! No to mention, if you don't like your Dr or get a bad feeling from going there, you are much less likely to go if something is wrong or you need an adjustment. At my Dr office, they said there are some ppl that just get the bad and never come back, for ehatever reason, and those are the ppl that end up overweight again.

So I had wrote an earlier post about the 15% I was having to come up with to pay upfront so I was having to push my surgery all the way to March, well not anymore! I talked the hospital down to $725 upfront and the Dr. $635.89 so all in all $1370.89 which is much more doable than than the almost $3,000 before! Looks like I will be getting banded in January afterall.. so excited!

That is hysterical and a little creepy at the same time. But I say what ever works! I havent named my band an actual name but I borrowed the lyrics from a Jimmy Buffett song and call it my Permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.

Doctors can be total assholes sometimes. I went in for my feet, I crawled to the bathroom at times.. holding on walls collapsing from pain. Its called ( plantar faciaitis..bruised heels and tight tendons...=feels like death ) had it most of my life.. didnt notice it really until i hit my 250+ mark... 300.. it killed me...
The doctor said... " Your fat, quit making excuses, and get off your butt and your feet will feel better. Wont kill you to get off the couch."...
wow. I was speechless. RUDE...Well he was right, but rude. but its there, permanently, for one. The severity worsens with weight. So , ok whatever. But dont be so damn mean about it.
Sometimes it takes the harsh things in life to wake u up.
